Chapter 7
"I dont' know why she is calling us urgently when she clearly knows we're busy with our marriage prepartions?" Swathi said to Munna as she sat on his bike.
"She has turned mad coz of her pregnancy" Munna said and Swathi hit him.
"Really, on that day, she kicked Pandit in the middle of the night waking him up and asked him to make Maggi." He said laughing and Swathi laughed along with him.
They reached their home and the sight that welcomed them was hilarious.
"Pandit, you didn't sweep properly here" Preeti shouted at him pointing at some place.
"Yeah, yeah pandit sweep properly" Munna said laughing.
"Don't laugh too much, you'll also have to face these days" Pandit said huffing.
"Yeah but then before that few other things has to happen right?" He said winking at Swathi and she hit him hard blushing.
"I meant Marriage yaar" Munna said laughing at her blushing face. And everyone laughed with him.
"Now tell me why you called us here?" Munna asked Preeti.
"Read this" Preeti said handing over the magazine.
"You called us to read the magazine here. I would have anyways read it this weekend" Swathi said huffing getting the book from her.
"Munna was right.. you have gone mad" Swathi said and Pandit agreed immediately. A glare from Preeti made his shut up.
"First can you look at the book" Preeti said to her.
As soon as her eyes landed on the cover, she looked shocked at Preeti.
"Now ll you read or not?" Preeti asked them and both Munna and Swathi started to read the article.
"Naina Bhabhi has written this article?" Munna asked shocked.
"If you read properly, Sameer is the new MD of the company" Pandit said showing the line.
"And Naina didn't tell us?" Swathi asked shocked.
Naina's pov :
I was resting on my home reading a book when Preeti and Swati came inside snatching the book from me. I was surprised to see them but one look on their faces and I know I have to answer them.
"You didn't tell me" Preeti asked angrily.
"Even she didn't tell me too" Swathi joined her.
"Girls I don't want you to worry for me" I said looking at them.
"When did he buy the company?" Preeti asked me.
"The day when the newspaper article came" I said looking down and Preeti was so furious.
"I spoke to you that evening still you hide from me" she said angrily.
"What article?" Swathi asked confused.
"I told na, the best business man article" Preeti said and she nodded understandingly.
"Is he still not satisfied hurting you?" Preeti said angrily.
"It's not like that" I tried to explain her.
"Swati, take the weapons.. We'll teach him a lesson in my style" Preeti said going inside kitchen and I looked at them shocked and confused.
"Swati, calm her down" I said pleading to Swati.
"It's always difficult to calm her down and now on top of that she is pregnant and her mood swings added to it" Swati said looking sadly.
I ran behind Preeti and saw her looking into her kitchen searching for weapons (according to her). I pulled her hand and dragged her to the room. I locked it and turned back to face her.
"Listen to me for few minutes. Then you can decide" I said looking at her. Though she was not still angry, she waited patiently for me to speak.
I explained them the real reason behind him leaving me. Swati felt bad for Sameer also. Preeti was still not convinced but she calmed down. I also told them that he asked for a chance.
"So, what have you thought about him" Swati asked me.
"I don't know" I said them.
"What do you mean by that?" Swathi asked confused.
"I'm scared. Though the truth is I haven't moved on, I'm also afraid that What if he leaves me again. I can't bear it." I said tears making its way out of my eyes. They came and hugged me.
"You have to tell him your fears Naina" Swathi said holding my hands and Preeti nodded.
Sameer's pov :
I was lying on the bed looking at her photo.
"You can live for one day without seeing her" Munna said.
"Munna Pandit" I said placing the photo near the bed table and went to hug them.
"I'm sorry yaar" I said to them.
"Dosti mein no sorry no thank you" Munna said and I hugged them tightly.
"You came to my marriage?" Pandit asked shocked.
"Yeah.." I said scratching my head.
"At least you could have meet us before leaving? Pandit said visibly upset.
"Forgive me yaar. I didn't want to give you guys hope" I said hunging my head low.
"Ponga pandit, let It go. Be happy that he attended your marriage." Munna said side hugging Pandit and he smiled lightly.
"But then you didn't even bother to come back to us." Munna said faking angry.
"I know you guys won't forgive me for hurting Naina. So I thought convincing her first so that you guys ll also forgive me" I said looking down.
"But I missed you guys in every moment of my life" I said tears pooling in my eyes and they both hugged me.
Slowly we came out of our hug and They looked at my bedside table which has Nana ji's photo along with me where he said something on my birthday , I was laughing and he blessed me to stay happy. It was a perfect moment where he had kept his hands on my head and I was all smiles. Beside that one was my photo with Naina where we both were laughing and another photo where me , Munna and Pandit were holding each other smiling in your usual way.
After a very long time, I felt happy. Firstly Naina melted down a little and then Munna , Pandit back in my life. Munna had planned a meeting for all of us to invite for his wedding. We spoke about all the things that we missed in the past 2 years. I told Munna Pandit the reason behind leaving them and Naina. They have all the rights to know about it. They were angry at Mr.Somani for hurting my mom. But was glad that Rohan stood my side and was happy that my mom is fine now.
"What did Bhabhi say?" Munna asked after sometime.
"She said she needed time" I said.
"It's quite obvious" Munna said nodding and I looked at him sadly.
She was so broken after your break up. Preeti would tell how she would scream in her sleep and would not eat anything. In fact she didn't do anything other than crying in her room. We were worried if she ll go into depression or do something that might hurt her. Preeti and Swathi would never leave her side. Finally we somehow convinced her to get a job. But still things didn't change much.
I still remember that one day when everyone in her home left to Surat for some function, Preeti called me to her home.
"Pandit, come to my home fast" Preeti said tensed.
"Arey, Preeti.. Missing me badly? Do you want me to come home since your parents are not there?" Pandit asked teasing her.
"Please come soon." she said with teary voice and the line went dead. Pandit rushed towards her home and Preeti hugged him tightly crying.
"Naina fainted. She is not waking up" she said crying. Pandit tried patting her cheeks, sprinkling water on her and all other tricks but Naina was no where near to conscious.
"I tried everything" Preeti said and Pandit immediately dialed ambulance number. In the mean time Swati came running inside along with Munna.
"What happened?" Swati asked seeing a fainted Naina and Preeti told her everything. They took Naina to hospital. The doctor told that she is very weak and is not taking proper care of health coz of which she fainted. When Naina opened her eyes, Preeti couldn't control her anger.
"What are you thinking of yourself? What ll I answer to mom and dad? You know they love you more than me. Do you want to hurt all of us?" Preeti shouted and tears started to roll down Naina's eyes. She lowered her head sobbing and Swati went and hugged her.
"Thank god mom and dad are not here. Do you know how worried they are for you the recent days" Preeti said and Naina looked at her with teary eyes
"I'm Sorry" she said crying.
"Next time think of us too before spoiling yourself" Preeti said and hugged Naina crying.
No one in her family knew about this. Post few days of that incident, they started to search alliance for Naina. She would cry every night to sleep unable to forget you. When Preeti's alliance topic came, she immediately wanted us to get married and I know the reason. She wanted to relieve Naina of the pain for few months.
Tears started to roll down my eyes and In no time I was crying. I cried so hard.
"God, I don't know if I deserve to be in her life. I hurted her a lot." I said crying and they hugged me.
"Bhai, if you really feel bad for her, keep her happy always. Show her all your love. Don't let her go. She won't survive this time" Munna said patting my back and I nodded.
I knew she was hurted but didn't expect that she was so badly hurted. I remember the day when we was admitted in hospital after our Bet revelation.
That night I couldn't even close my eyes for a second. Whenever I close my eyes Naina's tear stained face flashed before my eyes.
Naina's pov :
While leaving, Swathi informed about the restaurant plan and that Sameer will also be coming. I nodded. While writing the article, I made sure I highlight his friendship with his friends. Though Mr.Mehta suggested that it is not needed I convinced him and added them.
I knew Preeti and Swati read the book regularly just for my article. If they read this one, they'll inform Munna and Pandit. On that day I noticed how much he need everyone back in his life. Atleast when we broke up I had everyone by side but he had none. Though I'm not sure about us, I made sure that he got his friends back.
As planned, we all meet for the dinner where we spoke about our college and school days. It was like old days are back. Swathi and Munna invited us for our wedding.
"You guys have to attend every function" Munna said to us and "You have to stay with me during the entire wedding as a punishment for not meeting us for 2 years he said pointing towards Sameer and he nodded smiling.
"Anyways Preeti is not going let you move away from her even for a second" he whispered slowly near Pandit's ear but Preeti heard it and shot daggers at him.
Swati told me to be her side during the entire wedding to support her.
"Now no-one wants me and my husband" Preeti said faking angry.
"Arey baba, we don't want you to strain with your work and we have appointed your hubby to take care of you" Swati said hugging Preeti and Preeti smiled back.
"But I ll dance during Sangeet" Preeti said grinning at Pandit.
"What?" Pandit asked shocked and we all laughed at their nok-jokes. When my eyes drifted towards him , I noticed he was already looking at me with so much of love. I smiled at him and looked away. Soon it was time for us to leave. Sameer offered to give me lift and I accepted it politely.
"Where are we going?" I asked him as I noticed him going in some other direction.
"Naina, I need few minutes with you alone" he said looking at the road and I nodded. Finally we reached a park.
Sameer's pov :
I was scared to face her. I could still feel that she is a broken. Though she is visibly fine, I know she is also scared. But I have to lead from here. I have to make her trust me again. We both went inside the park and sat a bench. I noticed her fiddling with her fingers. I wanted to hold her hand and entwine with mine but I held myself. All of a sudden, everything felt new. All these days, I teased her, irritated her, made her angry on her so that at some point, she ll vent out her anger on me and will be back to me. But now after Pandit and Munna's words, I understood her actions. I wanted to assure her, make her feel comfortable and fall in love with me once again.
"Naina" I called out and she looked me innocently.
"I know it's hard for you to accept me back and love me again but I think you can accept me as your friend.. I promise the rest will be taken care by me" I said pinching my throat.
She looked at me confused.
"I don't expect anything from you. Neither forgive nor chance" I said hoping for some reaction from her. But she was looking at me waiting for me to continue.
"Just let me be near you as a friend" I said.
"Sameer, what are you speaking?" She asked confused.
"Please let me be your friend" he said stopping her from talking.
"But" she started again.
"No but, Friends?" I asked extending my hands and she shook her hands with me still confused about my behaviour.
"This calls for a celebration" I said looking around for a shop and my eyes landed on a pani puri stall.
"Pain puri" I asked showing her a nearby panipuri stall and pulled her along with me as we were walking, a small child suddenly held her leg.
Naina's pov :
I was in my own world processing what he meant and was walking when a small child grabbed my legs and shouted "Out".
I looked down and found that the child was blindfolded and was playing games with her friends. She removed her blindfold and shouted "Didi out. Her friends blamed her that I'm not a part of their game and she has to blindfold again when Sameer suddenly told that he ll blindfold and play with them.
"Can we play with them?" He asked me his eyes twinking with joy. I couldn't bring myself to tell No. So I nodded lightly.
"This time It was me who was blindfolded all these days" he said asking me to tie the cloth covering his eyes.
I remembered the time when I told him the same after Mt.Abu trip. I stood looking at him when the kids urged me to tie the cloth. We started to play and he caught a boy and everyone else shouted "Out". The game continued for sometime and I found myself enjoying it. After playing for sometime, we had panipuri along with the children.
"Do you remember the time, when we both had pani puri competition" he asked smiling and I recalled the days of our first fight.
"It was so chilli. But then I can't let you win. So I ate quietly. Once you left, I rushed for water and ate lots of ice creams" he said laughing thinking of those days. Thinking of those days made me smile. We both spoke how childish our behaviour was and how our friends supported us without even knowing the reason.
We left back for our home. That night, I recalled his sudden friend request. He wanted me to forgive him and give him a chance before, but now he wanted me to just be friends with him. Would MunDit told him anything? Does he feel that it's better for us to be friends alone? Does he also feels that I'm unlucky? All the these were running in my mind and I slept when my brain got finally tired.
