I din't really like the snail paced execution of the episode but I don't quite find Sam's situation unrelatable. These are probably not thoughts that Dadi instilled in him. Deep within Sameer always had a thing that he isn't meant to be loved, or that he probably is unlucky with love. Dadi's words were more of a reminder! And in this case toh the subject was his most favourite person. When it comes to a sensitive topic like death, it's natural for people to stop accepting things as mere coincidences and start believing in superstitions too.
Again, I too am yearning for a separation track. Not the present kinda one where they're merely physically separated. A break up sort actually, main reason being avoiding story stagnation. Personally I'm someone who feels Sam's realisation of love at hospital ( not falling in love, but realisation) itself was kinda early. I would have loved it a lot more if he'd actually got the time to feel the difference that Naina's indifference at school was making to his life. That's a thing long gone anyway.
But like you said, what exactly have we got to look forward to if it's all fine between them at a personal level. Even if Naina and Sameer had joined two different cities for higher education, this would have been the scenario. Hence I don't find this long distance thing sad enough to make the ultimate reunion cherishable.
With a separation, we would get to see another lap of their love. The show has already had two in fact, and they were beautiful too- the one before bet revelation and the one post that. The story moves forward only if there is a dynamic equation between the protagonists. We've already seen how other challenges (like family, distance ) etc get boring over time.
When Sam was shown getting into bad company, I had thought that it was a move towards a separation. However they wrapped it up in no time, practically serving no purpose other than just dragging. I get a feeling they might do the same here too!
