Before commenting on the broader aspects this touched upon... I would like to strictly comment on what struck me while watching the scene...irrespective of what the writer intended to convey thru the scene.
I remembered a confident Naina in the past when her pride and her sense of self was put to the ultimate test... after the bet saga... she then gave a befitting reply to Sameer but today steeped in love, she found it difficult to question Sameer for his irrational response to a very innocent gesture...it's a reminder of what love can do..as someone wrote in a post here sometime back... as much as love liberates it can be controlling too...

It would make little sense to evaluate a young Sam's action when the conditioned response of most is that a woman's freedom must be curtailed so as to "protect" them from lumpen elements...Frankly, if one
reflects deeply on the matter, it would strike many that such a response only tends to increase the sense of gender discrimination we witness around us. One can't limit movement to ensure safe spaces but perhaps it's a debate for another time. Suffice to say that Sameer acted in a manner that showed his immaturity. Let's see where this goes from here...If it was a result of misplaced anger... which it well maybe.. let's see how he realises it..

As usual wonderful post Nivi.

First thing first, I can understand from where Sam is coming and he reacted as per his char trait and peculiar thinking of a teenager.Boys know how and what other boys talk about girls.

When I was 17, my sister was 15. I used to always warn her not to be seen on terrace, though other girls of our area used to be on their respective terraces and I knew what other boys discuss abt those girls. My sister used to be always confused.

Seriously that pose was not a decent one. Sam could imagine tapori boys making comments on Naina's heroine wala pose. Also most of the photographers use it as an advertisement on their walls, which Naina type girls don't know, who go there once in a blue moon, that maybe another reason for Sam's anger. This possessive Sam wants to protect her girl from every evil eye and from the cruelty of real world which innocent girl don't know actually exists.

Second one is Sam, the possessive loverboy, who can't see his lady love in such pose is clicked by any random guy. He thinks that one was private pose and only he should watch it, not even a photographer.

I guess, the emotional torture at Delhi is making Sam more angry, he is not in a position to pause and think. Maybe that's why he went back in anger!

Hope,Ms.Chipko aka Amrita doesn't use this misunderstanding thing for her own benefit to go close to Sam and hiding letters from Naina. If this happens toh samajh lena someone from CV team is badly ill-treated by Delhi ppl, remember Kauwa Biryani type...Aisa hi kuchh hua hoga jiska badla woh Dilli ke saare logon ko Bura bata ke le rahe hain.

Liked Samaina scenes very much today, aesthetically shot and very good sense of creativity.

I wish kuchh to dialogues hotey. Naina asking abt his udaasi as per his letter and reason for hair cut then maybe he would have told everything about KeDi and his condition in mad house.

But the type of jhatka we were expecting, Naina didn't get that shock of her life, don't know when she will get reality check, if not this one toh isse bada aur kya?

@rose...Like the VO had said, whatever changes made in me bcoz of shaant parchhai of Naina, that were going backward with double speed, hence we can't compare this Sam with earlier one who had started behaving maturely.

@ canopoem...timeline ka Funda to ande ke funde se bhi hai.I once tried to figure out when they explicitly mentioned May 1991 Delhi but then again they messed up by calling it anniversary. Maybe they have parallel timelines in diagonal universes that switch one after the other.

Okay, for my own sanity, I am going to write a Time line of events right from the beginning of this serial.

I am taking some creative liberties and doing it. That is the only way I can look beyond this loop hole.

Will be back in a few minutes and will update the time line I am imagining.

Things I liked:
1. Munna-Pandit tensed for Naina's marks, waiting for Sam, Munna talking to Preeti on phone calling her Munni was hilarious...😆...
2. Sameer's entry past the water tap playing the mouth organ...somehow my eyes never fail to notice miss the water tap...😳...And Naina though sad in the corner of her mind (as you said) runs to see him...
3. Their collision just like always...but this time with the special touch of hand-holding...that to firmly...
4. The pain and happiness in their eyes was beautifully shown, and the icing on the cake was Sam's VO talking about Paani mein kuchh second rehkar...that was infact some brilliant symbolism there by the dialogue writer...👏
5. The DTPH style 'Are re Are' where they imagine enjoying each other's company to the fullest...I wish CVs had given us atleast few more such type scenes before Nanu's death...(puppy face asking for more😳)...Their ishaaro ishaaro mein baatein...Ashi looked damn cute with those flicks on her face...
6. Sam's anger- The scene was nicely done by both the actors...He was so raged that Naina actually feared to utter a word...That was done properly...Possessiveness was kind of justified after her pose and nasty talks by tapori boys...And I specially loved his interrogation part- Kahan khichwayi? Kiske saath gayi thi? ...😆😆
7. M n P and Swa-Pree difference of opinion...women finding it difficult to understand and men understanding other men and their mentality...nicely shown...😆
8. Your lovely post...

Things I didn't like:
1. Rohan ko aaj bhi dialogue nahi mila...bechara monosyllables mein hi bolta reh jayega...😆...Kachru ke paas zyada dialogues the un 2 dino mein than this guy has in 4 weeks...
2. Pace of the show...my God it was like a Bullet train...So many things suddenly happened in 21 mins...I thought the fight might happen tomorrow...but no...Sam toh almost Delhi pohoch gaya...Why such imbalance of pace these days I fail to understand...😕

Things I question:
1. I said this in LU also pasting it here- One thing that irks me to the core...If he has gone to Delhi because of this fight then...Sam has lost Nanu just few days back...say it's just 10-15 days...even if he is angry on Naina, still isn't he supposed to visit Nanu's house once before directly leaving for Delhi...Just go to the house...stay there for some time...He has lost someone just few days back...I mean did CVs forget Nanu's death in Dadi-Keshav track...
2. I wished atleast 2 mins of some conversation between Samaina today...before the fight...atleast asking each other's khair-khariyat...

But as you said...hopefully things will unveil logically tomorrow and we will get to see a strong reason for him to go to Delhi...

Anyway lovely post...Sorry for the rant.ab toh aadat si hai mujhko aapke thread pe badbadane ki...😆

I saw the water tap also, water dripping from them also. Was that to show some realism in that most water taps are never turned off completely especially the ones in the public areas. Badi loopholes ko chodke I am asking for water taps to be shut down properly 😆

Rohan was observing as usual in that scene also, so the money was not from him like many were assuming, now him even hearing all Sameer's conversation also I doubt will it ever happen Hope there is some bonding between brother after Sameer comes back to Delhi.

So, Daadi was happy that Sameer was not to be found anywhere. Her tricks finally paid off ? 😡

It was all about Sameer Baba getting angry for perspective 'bhavras' buzzing around his Naina..Boy really went in flames.😈

Also saw a bit of 'ego' thing..All he wanted to pick up the photo and take away but ego took over and left..

Bechari Naina,Preethi,Swati left confused how Naina failed and why Sameer was furious..Like charges repel each other but also understand each other..😳

But one thing is clear..They mostly Sameer has realised that chains do not keep a relationship together..rather its hundreds of threads made up of love,control,patience and understanding sewed together that keeps a relationship alive for years.

In recent classes we were doing Lolita by Nabokov.One line that came in there and perfectly sums up today's epi encompassing Sameer and then Munna's reaction and a bit of Pandit's--

''I would fight of course. Oh, I would fight. Better destroy everything than surrender her.''

And our Professor said a beautiful thing-- Bright Minds!(He calls us this) Remember possesiveness and jealousy is for babies..Maturity is knowing and understanding none owns anyone.😳

And on a side note,I am happy they played that 'Jaaye tum jaaye jahan' song..That movie is my Dad's favourite and also Urmila's characters name is 'Minu'.😆

Timeline in "Yeh Un Dino Ki Baat Hain"

Feb 1990 : Serial begins. Viewers are introduced to Naina and Sameer joins PVKM

Naina, Sameer, Swathi, Preeti, Munna and Pandit are studying in 10th grade.

Arjun and bet boys are studying in 11th grade

March 1990 : Final exams and Naina tops the exams

(Miraculously Sameer also passes the exams)

May 1990 : Naina gets a seat in Vanasthali and she does not go

Head Boy competition is announced and Naina offers to coach Sameer in academics

So technically they became friends in May 1990

July/August - Exams probably first term. Arjun steals the paper and scores well in the exams and becomes Head Boy

Bet boys taunt Sameer and thus a bet is started where Sameer will make Naina fall in love with him.

October 1990 : Mt. Abu trip and all the drama that happened there

November/December : Forgiveness seeking of Sameer and him realising that he loves Naina

January 1991 : Pooja's wedding and Naina forgiving Sameer

February 1991 : Cricket match and Arjun winning the Maruti car

March 1991: Final exams. Naina and gang including Sameer pass the exams (which is a miracle again) and are promoted to 12th grade

Paper chor passes 12th grade and starts looking out for colleges.

April 1991: Farewell party, Nanaji's death and Naina's village trip and finally Sameer moving to Delhi
