Hi to all dear forumwasis,
I am early to college, and before I scoot off to take theory class for young budding docs (of whom many probably are struggling with love and academics), I want to share my views on yesterday's episode quickly.
"Writers of the show, please DO NOT make this amazing show OTT. I am feeling it is getting borderline towards getting into that irritating OTT zone. Let me point out instances:
(Please note the observations are based only on yesterday episode and precap)
1) The primary point of yesterday's episode was to make Sameer further realize that no one cares for him as much as Naina does. He might have had a special friend in Nainital or many girls swooning over his looks (like Kamya), but no one has ever cared or valued him beyond that. And this is where Naina is breaking the barrier.
Being a loner (cut off and neglected from parents affections except for the money), the only emotions Sameer had are loyalty to friends (however wrong they may be), anger/hate/rebuke (against his detractors) and arrogance (on his looks).
His emotional link with Naina started with rebuke/Anger and ultimately hatred for her. Anger & Hate is a powerful feeling. In the course of some time, this powerful sense is turning in to even the more powerful emotion of LOVE and FEELING CARED / APPRECIATED / LOVED unconditionally at the most profound emotional level.
Sameer is falling in LOVE with the same intensity with which he had Anger for Naina.
That was depicted beautifully in yesterday's episode. Sameer getting tears in his eyes are the testimonial that he is genuinely in AWE of Naina. He cannot believe that he can mean so much to anyone other than his Nanu. He has fallen for her as thick as he possibly can. He may be in denial, but subconsciously he needs her.
(Interestingly, it is the same for most of the boys, including me and many others. I am still in AWE that I mean the World to someone other than my parents)
It was perfectly depicted yesterday.
2) It also showed, to what extent Naina loves/cares/adores Sameer. Letting a boy into the room at night, (during a school trip) is a big issue. It can have severe repercussions in our society (even today). In short, Naina took of the risk of her CHARACTER ASSASSINATION.
Sameer echoes this concern, but Naina says" Mujhe Apni Badnami se Jayada Tumhare Health/Tabiyat ki Phikar Hai).
In short, nothing is more important than Sameer. Even the potential risk of her "Badnami."
This point was also correctly depicted.
(In all these, the background song of MPK was the perfect blend and Mood Enhancer.)
Both points 1 & 2, were amazing and sweet in showing the Love of Naina for Sameer and How Sameer is finally in unconditional love with Naina.
My next points are based on the PRECAP.
Ideally, the writers could have wrapped the show with Sameer leaving in the morning, maybe further having a glimpse at Naina and reminiscing his emotions/love for her and Naina's love/respect/affection/dedication for him.
However, the PRECAP just went OVER THE TOP.
Rakesh arriving, seeing Sameer in Naina's room and then creating a public ruckus, Sameer taking the blame ... blah blah blah.
If the entire sequence is dream (ok I can let it go)
If the sequence is true but downplayed and handled sensitively (ok I can let it go)
However, in most probabilities, it is not a dream sequence. So, whatever Sameer may say or do, this will directly lead to character assassination of Naina and Sameer. (Indian society is very judgemental these matters even in 2017. You can just imagine the seriousness of it in the 90s)
For two teenagers - such instances are very stressful and over the top. They do not have the maturity to handle it. Even if there such a scenario, it was always handled silently so that there is no public spectacle. For a girl, it is an extremely serious issue with serious adverse effects on her life & dignity.
The beauty of the show is the genuineness and closer to reality approach with just adequate does of romance and drama. Even the sequence of Tauji boycotting the family of Meghaben is close to the truth and it happens.
But the potential public spectacle that might be shown today is entirely not required as it is definitely OTT.
A 17-year-old boy and 16-Year-old girl going through the public explanation or humiliation of answering why they were together in the night in the same room. It is humiliating. How will the writers downplay this situation?
Even if, as some says, this is being done to show Naina that Sameer can also sacrifice for her and do anything to save her dignity. (this will be one of the flashbacks she will have later when Sameer is trying to get her back post bet revelation)
However, this could have been done in privately also within Rakesh, Sameer and Naina.
But for the OVER THE TOP DRAMA purpose this scenario was made into a public spectacle.
And the writers just expect us to accept that everyone forgot the issue or maybe they have some additional severe OTT in mind.
Well. Let us see how it plays today. I hope it does not go OTT. It can be a big turn off for many viewers.
