I really loved this piece you've written dear...such a thoughtful analysis...I think Sameer n Naina had the spark since day 1- the first bump, n somehow Sameer started having a bad opinion about Naina when Munna n Pandit fed him the teacher's pet n all lines...baad me misunderstandings aayi...but instances like the first bump, the way he was looking at her on his birthday n when she dressed up as a sipahi...I'm sure many of us ignored these instances along with Sameer...the gaze probably meant nothing...but then at sunset point, when Sameer recollects each of these incidents, they certainly meant something, he did feel something...that's why he remembers them...I even noticed in the episode when Sameer is trying to hide Naina's new shoes again, n falls ending up giving them back to Naina...again there was an eyelock there...
N I agree, despite everything, he tried to help her...cycle chain came off, shoe stuck, she fell down in mud, he gave her his hanky once too...n even after the paper stealing scene, he attempts to talk to Naina n explain honestly, but then she ignores him n Rakesh lies that Naina got him punished...n that is how the bet came about...
Sameer started feeling close to Naina as he became friends with her n did many things, convincing himself that he was doing them for the bet, while infact he had started to genuinely care for her
