Raman was introduced as a person who stood by right and wrong.
This is the reason why he slapped Romi for peeping in Mihika's changing room, or threatening to send him to jail for making MMS or getting Bala sacked out or exposing Param.
Slowly his character changed into someone who stood by his blood be it even against Mihir.
On the other hand Ishita was introduced as a person who stood by her family but slowly she became the person who started standing with right and wrong.
One common trait of human which both Raman and Ishita have shown is that everybody has a different set of rules for oneself and others in the same situation.
Thank you Mam for your reflections!!! I truly concur with your statement to an extent that IshRa have different set of playing conditions at times...
Your assertion that Raman always stood by right and wrong but Ishita has only stood for her family during the initial days caught my attention...
I love IshRa and DivAn equally and please do not take my views as contradictions/rebuttals but only as observations from a different perspective...My opinion on Raman is confined to this post only and the scope of this post encompasses the first few seasons of YHM...
If Raman had stood by right and wrong, firstly, he wouldn't have bribed the police to get out of Mayur Vihar during the time of night long Jagarta where Mrs Iyer lodged a complaint against Bhallas for the unending cauldron in the society...
Secondly, Raman never treated Mihir as an outsider, he nurtured Mihir, stood as a guiding force for Mihir and he treated him on par with Romi..So it is not a surprise when Raman castigated and chastised Romi for his luscious act of spying Mihika... Raman knew that Romi was no saint and he believed that Mihir would never make false accusations on Romi.. It's all within the family and there is no outlander here and yes Raman is absolutely right..
Thirdly, in case of Mihika MMS scandal , as you have rightly proclaimed, Ishita did take sides ...She was against Mihir and so was Raman who was against Ishita.. As explained earlier, Raman knew in his bones that Mihir would never indulge in such an act of voyeurism...At the same time, Ishita has to be given the benefit of doubt too as Mihika wasn't convinced about Mihir's innocence and infact she accused him during their confrontation...So it's natural for Ishita to support her grieving sister when the evidences were against Mihir... However, Raman did digress from the principle of egalitarianism by using his name and fame to cease the arrest of Mihir.. If not for Raman's intervention, Mihir would have been arrested..If his interests were aligned with the judiciary and not with his dear ones why did he interfere with the course of law.. Wasn't he the same Raman who trashed Romi for exploiting the modesty of Mihika.. Yes, it was a case of nepotism from the side of Ishita and Raman as well...
Fourthly, wasn't Raman wrong in requesting Ishita, an adversary and a bachelorette to play along as his wife just for the sake of a contract from Mr. Tandon.. He should have outwardly rejected Tandon's claim and should rest the case.. If Ishita only thought of her family then why did she acquiesce to his proposal, that too for a man who was responsible for the humiliation of her parents... She not for once but twice staged a drama, going against the wishes of her family...
Fifthly, wasn't Raman wrong in offering lumpsum compensation to Ishita on the pretext of her marriage for Ruhi's custody, which was a matter of sub judice ...My moral science teacher would have definitely called it as a foul game..
Sixthly, can Raman be justified for bringing Subbu's mother to the fore, knowing that she would defame and malign Ishita in front of the judge.. If he only treaded the path of rectitude why would he involve a third person that too who holds a prejudice and bile against Ishita... Wasn't it hitting below the belt, politics of convenience.. Raman wasn't right, right..
Seventhly, if Ishita only stood for her family and not for virtues why didn't she testify against Bhallas in the court... Her parents were besmirched, mortified and debased in front of the society, her sister was reduced into a laughing stock and her engagement was abrogated, even after such horrendous incidents ( though out of misunderstanding) Ishita chose to be on the path which she felt equitable for Ruhi, none but a stranger to her... It's hard to find a woman who hold no grudges post such gruelling incidents but Ishita being Ishita was not on the lookout for vendetta...She is called Jagat Mata for a reason...
Eighthly, was Raman right in making Ishita apologize to Adi for no mistake of hers.. If he stood by so called righteousness why would he make her wife to bow down in front of a spoiled brat, just to corroborate his challenged fatherhood... Though, he made Adi to apologise at a later instance making up to an extent for his misdeed..
Ninthly, why did Raman try to push Sarika out of Romi's life when Sarika was not at fault during their courting period in spite of Ishita's demur. Didn't he chose his family over Sarika and contrastingly, he coerced Ishita into convincing Sarika for marrying Romi, when neither Ishita nor Sarika were willing.. So who was fighting for the family and who was standing for the interests of a stranger...
Finally, in Param fiasco it was HIS wife , whom he fought for and in case of Bala's farce, he was extremely confident about Romi's insidious mind coupled with the stature of Bala.. Yes, I appreciate and love him for the fact that he stood against Romi , when he was initially assumed to be the culprit, defying his mother too 👏
The following observations are in not reference to the post but in general..
In case of Adi - Aliya marriage catastrophe, it was Ishima who stood undeterred for truth when the entire clan were hurling abuses and suspecting her maternal instincts...
It was Ishita who stood for Roshni when Adi deserted her in the middle of the road..In fact, she strived to bolster her even after knowing that she was Adi's first wife, going against the majority...Furthermore, not to forget the fact that she shot Adi just to safeguard Roshni, a sacrifice which proved costly for her and to the show too 😆.. However, I am no way endorsing her for supporting Roshni after knowing her infidelity, a debate for another day 😉
It turned out as a garrulous rant but by no means I am against the author of the post or cynosure of the show, Raman Kumar Bhalla.. I would also like to apologise if this post has rubbed anyone on the wrong side or ruffled the feathers of the fans in the forum...
Forever IshRa...
