Going by Anita's insinuation, it's gonna be a sequel or prequel (highly unlikely) but NOT a spin off.

If it was a spin off, there would have been new actors, new characters and different story.

Custody was more of Shagun and the kids story. She just cud not fulfill her dreams and she gets into Ashok's manipulative words and she wants to get rid of him and come back but she cudn't.
