Plagiarism, Fake IDs and Bashing
Hello there. Before jumping into conclusions that this is another post to insult people, let me just clear - kindly do not generalize. This post solely belongs to me and I have invested my time in typing this out because I do want to state a few things. Last checked, this was a public forum where we have right to express our views. And even if you want to express your views on this thread, please make sure they are in descent manner because since I always prefer being in my limits while talking, unnecessary rudeness with use of foul words isn't acceptable for me.
So last time when I was active which was months back, I remember there had been created a thread referring to the fics in the forum are conceptually plagiarized, followed by the thread turning into warzone by the writer's friends and the rest, who believed the story to be a copy, later followed by creation of other threads of accused writer quitting and then bashing started again.
What I want to know is, if you really think some story is plagiarized, it is indeed your responsibility as a reader/writer to bring it to notice because plagiarism isn't something acceptable. It is a punishable, offence. Know that first, even if we here write for entertainment. Any thing has its ethics, rules which should be followed and using someone's ideas/concepts/dialogues/descriptive writing without their consent is NOT right.
But what is the point of creating new IDs just to bring in light that some fics are plagiarized? If you are sure enough, there shouldn't be any need to do that. I am not saying this in air. Almost an year before, I have done this as well, to point out at plagiarism but that was from my own account [ which I have only ] and not from any fake IDs.
Firstly let me tell if you aren't aware, making multiple IDs in IF isn't allowed. When mods will check, your accounts will get banned because you are using them from the same IP so it isn't any rocket science figuring out if you have multiple IDs.
What are you scared of? That you'll get bashed openly? But why would anyone do that if you are raising a valid point?
It has become so difficult to trust and listen to anybody because honestly whenever I am interacting and someone gets out of the line with me, I am forced to think from his/her continuous chattering of a particular member/writer that its none other but the person referred itself. Yeah, I am forced to think that way.
And a more thing, when you make multiple IDs you do not realize that just the name is different, the way you talk doesn't change, Absolutely not raising language issue here but there is a way, how everyone speaks so its so obvious to understand if you see similarity in that.
You may be inspired from something, that is often possible but then there is a difference between inspiration and plagiarism too. And if you are inspired from something, you are supposed to mention it in your post.
Dearest readers and writers, of course - I won't raise a point on your choices and writing but I do not disagree when I read that the fanfics of this forum need improvement. By the way, I am really no one to advise but I would like to share a few things, which I want you to read if it doesn't take much time of yours.
1. How to write fanfictions properly?
2. Legal Explanation on Plagiarism
3. Rules, regulations and Action that can be taken [/URL
Lastly there is something more again which I know many would not like but then, I have to share. Putting up a demand that you won't update a story unless you get particular amount of likes is again, against the rules of IF. I tried searching for it but couldn't remember where it is and now I gotta rush for work. I shall come back to edit this when I find it.
I understand that after writing, its natural to expect people to review your work and even to feel bad when you don't expected response - so yeah, it is your choice to restrict the access to whom you wanna allow reading or not, and even to update or not, or even to discontinue - but you cannot say - that you won't update if you don't get enough likes. If you don't want to update, please dont. Its your choice but you cannot write it down in your threads, Its not always about readers and not writers as well. A story is always about - readers and writers.
I am not blaming anybody. Back in the past, even I have restricted access to my stories here and it wasn't really because I wasn't getting 100 or 200 likes or anything or I wanted people to request me for updates... heck I strongly dislike if anyone does that. I have always considered my readers as my friends but after writing a lot, being considerate a lot, I just felt that there had been quite a lot of views but probably the story isn't upto the mark of many people's standards so I did not want to put my stories there publicly where they did not matter much. And I am not promoting my fics here😆 This is just a reference.
I really hope that you guys will check out IF rules and other things I have mentioned. Please do.
Keep healthy environment people.
