Viji actually very fitting trp @ the start of new adhyay...Let's see how the creative and talented CVS will maintain this...This is a challenge for them...As we know AV can deliver and KM is screechy and can't be equated to ishita and the new actress no idea..
So new gen Raman and Shagun are happening today and new gen Ishita marriage is broken...What similarities...Let's see how the story moves.
Again I will say this EK knows what she is doing and despite lot of protests she brought in surrogacy and made Shagun an important part of Raman and Ishita's life. If DT and KP are there she knows she gets 2.0 trps... So why worry...
So instead of cribbing let's welcome the new adhyay. As I mentioned in my earlier post this is the obvious choice when they are shown to have grown up kids. As per the show if the makers show college life and the teen troubles it's not going to be much drama as it would with the marriage and the sauten sagas appease to the trp viewers. We all need drama and this is entertainment industry. So, we should welcome it.
First, kudos to EK for showing some of the taboos in the society though in a very insensitive way but she attempted it.
EK wanted to show initially "to be a mother one doesn't need to give birth" and a sauteli ma is not necessarily a wicked one thus depicting the beautiful bond between Ishita and the kids with Ruhi first then Adi later. But she herself ruined that bond by making Ruhi and Raman repeatedly calling Ishita sauteli ma. Not just that she went ahead and made Shagun the surrogate mother as "asli ma" crowned by none other than Raman to highlight or rather negate the initial concept of "to be a mother one doesn't need to give birth" to "to be called asli ma one needs to give birth" and "blood relations are any time take preference and precedence over the heart relations". Total morphism.
EK wanted to show the women who are unhappy with their marital life and decided to step out of the marriage vows and boundaries and having an EMA is not to be looked down and wanted to create sympathy or wanted to show them in a better light. Though with Shagun it was more of a forced affair both with Bhallas and the viewers that it garnered no sympathy.
EK wanted to show how the infertility will be treated by the society by showing Mrs. Iyer in constant shame, Ishita in acceptance to her fate where as it was told by Mani in the earlier episodes due to her limitations no normal person would want to marry her except a divorcee and a single father like Raman is her only choice. And the constant insults that came along her way by many including her husband.
EK also wanted to show surrogacy even if it is through deception as it can be possible in the society if one wants to have a kid and going behind wife's back to achieve that.
EK also wanted to keep Raman more sympathetic towards his ex-wife who did more harm to show that the relationship between divorced couple is possible. But what she failed at is subtleties.
EK wanted to show women empowerment thru Ishita - as initially she is shown as educated, employed, independent, kind, empathetic and righteous person in 11P.M slot but once the slot moved to 7: 30P.M she made that empowerment into a very cheap affair by showing Ishita chasing Raman with a broom to appease to the one group of women who treat their husband with such discord.
EK also boldly addressed the male infertility through Romi where he and his wife decided to not chase a dream of having their own kid but treat their relation as sacred as possible.
EK tried to show adoption but she literally threw away that beautiful track.
EK also wanted to show that romance doesn't need to end when one becomes in-laws only if they show ishita not contradicting it *sigh*.
Now she is venturing on a new adventure showing the young in-laws. TBH this is not unheard of. If one have kids at a young age this is also possible. I know from my personal experience my in-laws became in-laws when they were in their mid-30s and 40s and my MIL became a Nani when she was a mere 39 years old.
I have tremendous respect for both DT and KP for their acting prowess and talent and commitment to deliver. Irrespective of the crappy story line they still delivered and will remain as one of the best Jodi in telly industry for years to come. The most beautiful thing as persons they are also encouraging the young talent. I salute that. They both are power house of a talent and I saw the younger lot learning a lot from these two; be it RD, Aly or AV.
What is even more appreciative of EK is that she making the second gen to take the center stage now whereas lot of PHs will hesitate to give opportunities to younger lot she is encouraging them. As we have witnessed AV as Adi grew on all of us and proved his mettle. He successfully filled the shoes that Gautam as Adi left behind and won our hearts. Kudos to both Gautam and AV for the beautiful portrayal of Adi and now he is a heart child for Ishita.
RD the words can't be enough to describe the talent of this child. As Ruhi she won our hearts and became a third pillar for the beautiful story called YHM competing with the experienced actors like KP and DT to deliver the magic. Though her role as Pihu is butchered to accommodate the story line she still delivered a totally different role as Pihu showing her hatred towards Ishita (which must be hard for the child as she was Roo to her Ishima and they are one others heart beat). She left such bigger shoes for AB to fill in that left unfulfilled IMO.
AB as Ruhi though initially she showed her agony, fear and anger so perfectly as a child abandoned by her parents she later failed to connect with viewers like me as the sweet Ruhi. She exhibited more of a Shagun than Ishita. Even though the tracks were built exclusively for her I feel that she failed to make a connect with viewers. Hence I feel that she failed to fill the shoes left by RD as Ruhi.
Rest KM as Alia remain as a character that unfortunately made comparisons with Ishita which she totally lacked in her diction.
Let's congratulate the team YHM and the younger gen a success in their new adhyay and new journey. Wishing Ishita and Raman good luck as in-laws and hoping that we only witness the love and respect between Raman and Ishita and not the callousness or abuse from Raman towards Ishita in this role.
This is not my usual rant on the episode but just what I felt about the current situation and wanted to put my two cents out.
Nice review Viji. Thank you.
