Raman wanted to surprise Ishita with a baby and hence the surrogacy track. However does it really achieve what he wants to achieve?
1. Will Ishita feel like a complete woman if she has a baby through surrogacy?
2. Will the world stop calling her a bhanj if she has a child through surrogacy
3. Is all the tension, miss-understanding and confusion worth it?
Ishita was very clear that she didn't want a baby through surrogacy. She already got to experience MOTHERHOOD the moment Ruhi entered her life. Adi's acceptance of Ishita came as a true bonus and there was nothing more she wanted. She felt her family was complete. There was still some hurt left in her - thanks to Bala's mother and other insensitive people who have been taunting her through her entire life. SHE wanted to experience the process of giving birth to a baby like every other normal woman does. Given pregnancy is what she wants, surrogacy is not the answer here.
I am not even questioning Shagun being the surrogate mother. I am questioning the surrogacy idea itself. Let me clarify - I am NOT against the idea of surogacy itself. In real life, surrogacy is a blessing to all those parents who don't have a child of their own or cannot become parents due to many reasons. Raman and Ishta's situation is DIFFERENT.
Ishita wanted to experience being pregnant. The baby itself in some sense is immaterial as she already had Adi and Ruhi. It is the pregnancy part that she missed out on.
There have been times when I have asked my husband to surprise me with a new house or new car as they show in our TV ads :). Surprising with a baby is certainly not something that any woman would expect. It will be more of a shock and not a surprise!!!
