I wrote dis poem on independence day few years back...

WHY ONLY TODAY??
The Flag is held high, it's a colourful day
All Indians are happy today
I can hear everyone say
Happy Freedom, Happy Independence Day
But WHY ONLY TODAY??

I am an Indian and I am proud
This cry is heard loud and loud
To celebrate this is the only way
But WHY ONLY TODAY??

We share quotes that show our patriotism
To get rid of all sorts of criticism
We upload pictures to exhibit our love
And believe we are true Indians now
The pictures disappear the very next day
But WHY ONLY TODAY??

We remember those who shed their blood
In their memory our eyes flood
Tribute to their sacrifice we pay
But WHY ONLY TODAY??

We leave our differences and unite
We pledge we will never fight
We will strive together for the progress we say
But WHY ONLY TODAY??

Our hearts are full of ambitions high
To the dreams the limit is sky
Assuming to climb the ladder of success we may
But WHY ONLY TODAY??

We are only bothered about our right
For this cause we always fight
But we fail to realize the beauty
Lies in performing our duty
The meaning of freedom we never understood
We never did what we actually should

We need to know and bear in mind
These emotions and feelings we should always find
In every manner, in every kind
And towards the evil never be blind

Let us practice and not just say
Whether it be Sept, Feb or May
No matter whichever day
Let's make it our Independence day
But NOT ONLY TODAY!!
