While Mr. Bhalla is behaving out of character, I wouldn't call Romi Laxman exactly, he may love his family but has never been a role model of sorts, when the purpose suited him he fooled Raman earlier into believing he was studying seriously for his MBA exams and even framed Bala for leaking the papers, this despite the fact that Bala is Ishita' BIL. When IshRa asked him earlier to accept Sarika and his child, he retailated and said he isnt in love with her and doesnt wish to marry her, his change is thanks to his infertility now where Sarika and his child are concerned - so Romi is no Laxman, as Laxman never was a conceited, selfish brat.
Also Suraj didnt leave Ashok because he got bankrupt he cheated on his brother, hoodwinked him and LEFT him bankrupt in the first place but since now he too is in debt and incurring losses he tied up with his foolish brother again because he knows he can always bleed a fool again, and frankly this does happen too, no matter how many times you find yourself stabbed in the back by family, which as brothers they are to each other, probably they are all they have got, you keep on giving them chances, not out of obligation but because thats what you do, you can break every tie but that of blood alas.
For once, Ekta and her team are not straying from reality or showing something crazy because at the end of the day - money is a factor that can break up the strongest of ties, even those of blood, The war of Mahabharata may have been fought due to Draupadi' dishonor which contributed as one reason but the seeds of it were sown long back, when power and throne were seeked and lusted for by Dhritarashtra who got jealous of his own brother and later, being biased towards his son cheated his nephews out of their rightful share...so safe to say, if hundreds of years agi, in what is considered the golden age of mankind where gods were said to exist and walk among humans in their mortal form; fortune and power could cause wars, in this time and era if a Bhalla family fights over it its really not that big a deal nor that out of the blue.
