Chapter-39
ITNA PYAR..."Mihika..."
It was a mere whisper from Raman. Romi and Mihir turned back in shock to see Mihika standing in the doorway shell shocked. She took some minutes to compose herself and pick up her mobile which fell on the floor along with a tiffin box hearing their coversation. However, Raman was yet to be back in to senses.
"jiju...voh...akka ne apkeliye pasta...Hmm...I need to go..." She found herself running behind words.
(That...akka...for you...)
"Miku...I know ki tune sab kuch sunliya. Phir kuch kyun nahin bolti...Why are you acting as if nothing happened?" Mihir asked frustrated over the fact that Mihika is not reacting to whatever just happened. It was unlike her.
(You heard everything. Then why are you not speaking anything?)
"Sorry Mihir...I'm not in a mood to talk now..." She said not even looking at anyone. Her eyes welled up and voice throbbing like she is withered.
"Mihika...kuch...bolo...mujhse gussa karo...I deserve it..."
(Say something. Get angry on me)
There came the most invinsible voice of a broken man. That undid her courage to dam her tears. Clutching on to the door knob she tried to drink in the pain she was feeling. "I'm sorry jiju...My heart is not that big like my akka's...I can't help hate you...I can't help curse you for whatever you've done because of your carelessness. I can't help it...I just can't..." She cried out before exiting the cabin.
Raman fell on the chair lifelessly. Mihir and Romi ran to him. Shook him vigorously to get him to consciousness. After a few horrible minutes he opened his eyes to gauge what is going on around him. "Are you alright bhai...?" Romi patted his cheek while Mihir tried to make him drink some water.
"I'm stressed out. I can't hold on. See what Mihika...what if...Ishita...voh bhi mujhse aise kahega toh..." He pulled his hair crying.
(What if she also tells the same?)
Romi and Mihir looked on helplessly when Raman kept on blabbering and crying his heart out. He could not take in the fact that Mihika said it out. He could not believe that his sister-in-law hates him now. He couldn't breathe hearing her words. All that he could do was imagine the same words from Ishita.
A call from Ishita was not expected. He felt his heart breaking his chest and coming out when he saw her smiling picture on the mobile screen. "Bhai...talk to bhabhi..." Mihir tried to make him hold the mobile but he shook his head in negative all the while saying "Hmm-mm...no...I can't...mujhse nahin hoga...no...voh...Mihika...sab kuch boldiya hoga abi tak...She will hate me...I don't want to hear that from her...Just...cut the call..."
(I can't...Mihika would have told her everything)
What followed was an angry Raman Bhalla ruling the staffs...giving deadlines as if it is his last day in his office. He even made some of his staffs cry. All that he wanted was just vent out his frustration and tension over someone in the form of anger. And he did it so well! Mihir and Romi could do nothing but pray. Pray God to stop Mihika. They feared that the way in which Mihika would let Ishita know about the problems in her pregnancy would create a rift between Raman and Ishita. They wanted to handle it very carefully other than in rush.
Raman reached home late night. He sighed a relief watching everyone asleep. He had drunk to strengthen himself to face Ishita. He could not see anything clearly ensuing to the darkness and his blurry vision. Walking upstairs using his mobile flashlight he reached his bedroom.
Ishita opened her eyes hearing him locking the door. Turning on the light she walked to him in anger. He gulped in a lumb closing his eyes. Determined to face anything but never let her go. "How could you do this Raman...?" She asked softly. Tears flowing down from her beautiful eyes ceaselessly. He tried to wipe them off only to be shrugged off by her. "You rejected my call? Maine apkeliye pasta banaya and you didn't even taste it...! Mihika told me that you didn't eat. Uparse mera call...how could you do this?" She asked holding his collars.
(I've made pasta for you)
A sigh of relief found its way out of his lungs. He smiled in his tears and took her in a tight hug. She tried to move out of his hands but he kept her captive. "I wasn't hungry...I'm sorry...but...I'll eat anything you make from the next time even if I'm full...I promise..." He said cupping her face and thought about the incident happened in the office.
FLASHBACKThe tiffin box from Mihika's hand along with her mobile touched the floor with a 'bang'. What followed was an emotional encounter between the four souls. After Mihir and Romi had left the cabin, Raman locked it behind him making sure that no one can barge in anymore.
"Kitne pyarse banaya hoga mere liye..."
(She might have made it with so much love)
He said kneeling down to pick up the tiffin box which is open and some of the pasta inside was laying on the floor. Waste. But he could not have the heart to make her efforts a waste.
He didn't mind eating the food which no one else could eat in his place. Love makes people go mad! Yes. he didn't mind how horrible that tasted. He didn't mind anything other than the love he could feel from it. He could only feel the love which he fears to be no more after this day. He was relishing it. Though his tears did make it taste worst!

"It's okay...zyada khana healthy nahin hai...but...you should not reject my call...ever..." She made a puppy face. Kissing her forehead he walked towards the bathroom to get freshened up.
(Eating a lot is not healthy)
"You're drunk?" Her voice raised making him halt on his steps. It was when he kissed her that she smelled it, but took some more time to collect herself to inquire him.
"It was...a party..." He tried to cover it up.
"Don't lie Raman..." She warned standing in front of him. "Kyun...?" (Why?) She poked his cheek making him chuckle.
"Voh...maine ek bura sapna dekha...when I was slipped in to sleep in my cabin...So...thought of drinking..." He said caressing her cheek.
(I saw a bad dream)
"Apko bahana banana bhi nahin aatha Raman...You better go fresh up." She giggledpushing him inside the bathroom.
(You don't even know how to make excuses)
MORNING AT IYER'SMrs Iyer was serving breakfast for Mihika and Mr Iyer when Ishita came there with Ruhi in tow. After greeting everyone she sat beside her appa. He made her have food from his hand when Mrs Iyer was feeding Ruhi. Meantime Mihika looked on in worry. The smile on her akka's face made her tensed the way Raman was feeling.
"Miku...jaldi karna...humein shopping jaana hai nah...!" Ishita exclaimed like a kid while Ruhi hummed in agreement eying Mihika.
(Do fast. We need to go for shopping)
"No akka...ap mere saath nahin aa sakta." Mihika shouted fearing that the travel may cause something wrong.
(you can't come with me)
However, her voice was too loud that Ishita clutched her head in pain. Still, she fought it and opened her eyes. "Tumhe kya hua Miku...? I even asked the doctor...she is okay with it..." Ishita let her know wondering what made her little siater gothis louder.
(what happened to you Miku?)
"Oh...you asked...! I was just concerned for you akka.." She smiled and went to wash.
Raman came there fearing Mihika's eyes. Yet he cannot stop check on Ishita once before he goes for office. Ishita smiled at him when he greeted her parents and picked up Ruhi in her arms. Mihika was just staring at him angrily or maybe expressionless! "Take care of her..." He said in a low voice looking at Mihika who managed to nod her head in affirmative.
