IshRa Os: Lets give our children the gift of Trust
"You're not even a mother let alone a good mother!" he said in a haste.
Within in seconds he realized his wrong choice of words and he knew he needed to rectify quickly. But he was late, the damage was done. As he looked toward her, he saw the tears that quickly welled up in her eyes. He had hurt her once again. "Ishita..." He tried to speak up.
She raised her hand asking him to stop his explanation. "you are right I'm not their mother, stupid me to think that I was." She said as tears rolled down her cheeks and a visible hurt in her voice "Ishita You know I didn't mean like that" he said nearing her.
She moved back "Bas Raman I heard enough from you...I'm sorry for coming into the matters of you and YOUR kids, from now on you can handle them on your own, " she said wiping the tears. And in a jiffy she walked out the doors of his house against Mummy-ji who was trying to stop her.
"Raman Puthar, how could you say that to her? After all she does for the kids, no mother in the world can care like her."
"Ma...you know I didn't mean that, don't you? It was just she was going overboard with Adi's case and..." He said helplessly.
"Tell her sorry and bring her back" His mom ordered
Raman nodded his head. He felt terrible, she was the last person he wanted to hurt and he should be the last person trying to hurt her, but something always happen and she always end up feeling hurt and he always end up regretting his actions. He was now angry on himself but he was also upset with Ishita, why was his Madarasan acting so adamant, can't she see she is hurting Adi in the name of love. Well that is something only she can answer, but now he had to make sure she knew he didn't meant those words to her. With that on mind he walked next door.
Raman walked into seeing Mrs.Iyer setting the table for dinner. Raman was bit hesitant, wondering if Ishita had said anything.
" Amma...I need to talk to Ishita...where is she?"
Mrs. Iyer looked dumbfounded. "Raman...Ishita didn't come here"
That surprised Raman, if his madarasan wasn't here then where was she. " she's not here come here..." He trailed off trying to figure her whereabouts.
"Raman is everything okay?" Mrs. Iyer asked worriedly
"Haan Haan Amma... I got her upset a bit and...I'll just call her up, you don't worry, I'll find her." He said as he left.
He dialed her number but no use she wasn't answering. The only other place she would go to is her Clinic. So he made his way down to his car. He was pleasantly surprised to Ishita sitting down on the bench. Her head tilted back, her eyes closed and arms crossed and tears still rolling down her cheeks. A sight that pierced his heart.
He walked over to sit next her, he wiped the tears from her cheeks and that caused Ishita to open her eyes.
She wasn't angry, she wasn't upset with him. She was just hurt by him. But as she looked at him, she noticed the pain in his eyes, his eyes were also welled up...his face had turned gloomy. She couldn't get up to walk away after seeing him such state, so she sat still.
"Ishita..." He began, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean those words."
She knew he was sincere, she can hear it his voice, but she couldn't forget those words, that too it coming from his mouth. " It's okay Raman, you were only stating the fact...I'm not a mother, no matter how much I feel like I am." She said with a serenity. Ouch.
"Come on Ishita...you know me, my anger blinds me sometimes. I can say the most stupidest things. Forget what I say the world can see how great of a mother you are"
"I don't care about the world see." she said
"So it's me that concerns you" he asked with a slight tease.
She just looked him.
"Well first of all I don't like seeing you like this at all. I like you in your JKR mode, always fighting for the goodness of the world" he said putting his arm around her shoulders.
A smile finally crept her face as she tilted her head on his shoulder. He was the reason for her tears but he was always the reason behind her smiles too. How he was able to do that, she had no idea. "Raman.." she called
"Hmm.."
"what I did..., with the camera thing, you think it's wrong?" she asked.
Raman went quite. Not able to understand what her husband was thinking she got out of the embrace to look at him.
"Ishita, I know you care for Adi and you are only looking out for best for him. But Adi is growing up and he needs his own space..."
"but Raman he has bad friends, if we don't set him right now..." she raised her concern
"I know I know...but we can't get too strict with him to the point he does things behind our back, can we?"
"No..." she slugged
"Adi is a teenager yaar...don't you remember how it was? We need to be cool with him in order for him to open up, only then we can know what's happening.."
Ishita let out heavy sigh. She wasn't getting convinced.
"By the way...did you ever bring Subbu home to study, did Amma ever set a cctv cam in your room? Frankly I won't be surprised...you Iyers are crazy, especially the woman I tell you! Sadly I got stuck with most crazy one" he said again his teasing tone.
Ishita slapped gently him on his chest.
" Come on Raman I'm being serious here, He's going to take advantage of us if we get too friendly with him you know...you heard what Abishek said when he brought him home...then Vinni's father coming home..." she said still with same concern.
"I know " he said holding her hands " but Adi was sensible enough to know it was wrong, he did apologize didn't he?"
"yeah..."
" Then let it be Ishita, what's important is him knowing what he did was wrong. Trust me he was sincere in his apology. We have to take it slow. We have to have him listening to us in order for us to teach him what's right"
" I suppose so..."she said, still not fully convinced.
" Ishita, I too have responsibilities toward Adi, I won't just standby if I know he's wrong... you do believe that I'm a good father don't you?"
She smiled "with all my heart Raman"
"We have to believe in him, lets give him the gift of our trust and see what he does with it, we have to give him a chance to get responsible on his own. "
Ishita gave a nod "I understand...I'm sorry...I got a little carried away with this. I'll apologize to Adi too"
"hmmm But I don't forgive you" he said letting her go of her hand.
Ishita was stunned. " Raman ?..."
" You totally spoiled my mood. First you avoided my plan to spend the day together for setting up the camera, and then when I came home early to spend time with you... & this fight!"
"sorry sorry sorry !" she said snuggling closer to him and wrapping her hand around him. " Is it late to redeem my self ?"
"stay close like this and I'm sure I can forget just about everything else." He said wrapping his hand around her. A smile was playing on both their lips.
It was the sound of Raman's phone that brought them back to reality.
"haan ma, she's with me we're coming home now" he said as he finished the call.
" lets go before they coming looking for us" he said extending his hand. And together Hand in hand they both made their way back home.
