Review:
Its the CM Day (bole toh, Court Marriage day) and everybody's ready and about to leave for the court...
Saw Toshi ji in a saree for the first time, I guess...or has she donned one earlier as well? She looked nice, and different for a change, except for the loud gaudy jewellery..
Simmi, as the bride, looked INFINITELY better than what she did during the engagement ceremony...Atleast she didnt have the headgear on (I call that appalling jewellery 'headgear' coz it looked OMINOUS).. Raman looked fultoo TOTA (Sorry, couldn't resist using this word)š in a pair of ash-grey trousers and a crisp white shirt..simple and understated and so so hot!!
But the BEST of all was Ishita who came down in a saree (Im sure its Kanjeevaram, coz its a marriage ceremony after all, and they wear these gorgeous nine yard samples on the best of occasions) ... off-white silk/Kanjeevaram saree with a thin blue border, blue blouse with puff sleeves, hair tied in a bun (with thin braids running parallel to each other swamped up) and earrings and a statement gold necklace. V V PRETTY!! DT just keeps looking more and more gorgeous day by day!!š
There are quite a few things that happened in the epi that were QUITE surprising...for starters, barely an hour was left before the marriage was to be registered in the court, when Ishu got a call from Bala n Subbu's mom...can you believe it?
Ishu made a bahana of getting the right varmalas from Malai Mandir and told Raman she would directly go to the court...
Subbu's mom called Ishu, not to taunt her or question her or anything...but apparently,when Ishu was talking to Vandu and Bala, she overheard their conversation..and she has the same worries as Ishu does... "mere aur tumhare beech kuch personal issues hain...par main jaanti hun ki tum kabhi kisika bura nai soch sakti" Really? Then why were you being a bitch all these years?š”
Anyway, she is stumped that her son lied about Lakshmi's miscarriage and her suicide and her depression and a host of other things...she is concerned as to why he didnt share the same with her or Bala or a close family member... "Main jaanna chahti hun ki woh yeh shaadi karne ko itna utavla kyun ho raha hai?"
WHY DIDNT YOU RAISE THESE VALID QS EARLIER WOMAN?? Exactly the same thought that Ishu asked... so anyway, Subbu's mom requested her to contact someone in London and find out about the whole deal...seems she is taken aback by the many things her son has hidden from her and wants Ishu to uncover the truth...but I dont think she thinks her son is a criminal YET...maybe she is just concerned as to why her son doesnt trust anyone with whatevr's happening in his life...I didnt exactly get the motivation behind her action actually...anyway, she gave her Subbu's office number and address...With a last word not to inform Bala/Subbu about this meeting, she leaves
I am STUMPED. Now am sure iss show mein KUCH BHI ho sakta hai...I mean, barely weeks ago Subbu's Mom still maintained her bitterness towards Ishu...and now she's made this weird U-turn, almost becoming a nun! She wants Ishita's help?? Wow!!
Bahut sochne ke baad Ishu calls Shaila Bua who lives in London...informing her of Simmi's marriage today...Bua is surprised, but gives her blessings...and then Ishu mentions the address she got from Subbu's Mom and Subbu;s full name...a sleeping lazy Shaila Bua gets up off her bed and urgently, vehemently asks Ishu to do everything possible and stop this marriage... "yeh ladka ek number ka fraud hai...yeh ladka Simmi ke liye bilkul theeek nai hai...bahut hi dangerous kism ka insaan hai...main emergency visa lagake kal hi aaungi...main tujhe baki baatein baad mein batati hun"
Ishu is shocked and relieved at the same time, thinking her hunch proved to be right...I was thinking, ACP aur Scotland Yard ki expertise ki kya zaroorat thi! Shaila Bua ko ek phone call kar lena tha naa!š And now that I think, its so strange...despite nearly scraping through a horrid experience during Rinky's marriage, the Bhallas STILL didnt try and get a background check on Subbu done...Just because he is Ishu's ex doesnt give him the impunity naa!š IT DIDNT EVEN STRIKE ANY OF THEIR THICK SKULLED BRAINSš”
I am not going into the intricacies of how Simmi blushed like a bride and how Rinky looked more like her younger sis waiting in line to be married next, than being a married woman herself...what's with her and Mihir baba? After that drawn-out jealousy track, they didnt even explore that bit...its like after THEIR confession, RiMi seemed to have aged 30 years!š
The Bhallas and Iyers and Subbu and his MIL reach the court...its so weird...Bala called his mom sometime back, and she said she was about to reach...and suddenly, coz of high BP she isnt a part of her son's marriage??? Socho bete ki asliyat ke baare mein jaanegi toh heart attack hi aa jana hai
As they approach the courtroom and Simmi gets engrossed in talking to Rinky, Subbu alternated between looking daggers at her, with pure spite and hatred (recalling his fights wth Lakshmi) and putting on a fake smile...what an idiot he looked like, I cannot even describeš¤
I dont get it, if he was pleading with his wife or watever (in the flashback), WHERE DID SIMMI OR THE BHALLAS FIGURE IN IT?
Ishita is on her way to the court...and somewhere in the middle, the car tyre punctures...She gets off and rushes to take an auto instead...in the meanwhile, Raman calls her, annoyed that she was making everyone wait...
"Aapko meri baat manni hogi...Agar aapko mujhpe bharosa hai toh yeh shaadi nai hone denge...jab tak main naa aaun tab tak aap yeh shaadi nai hone denge...main abhi nai bata sakti...but aapko mera intezaar karna hoga"
And it was at this juncture that I realised how FAR IshRa have come in this journey of their marriage...and a unique love... I mean, maybe, in a different time Raman might've shouted at her or not paid heed to her...but somethng n the way his wife spoke into the phone convinced him he needed to do what she asked of him...This little bit proved HOW much he trusts and LOVES her...kyunki use bhi pata hai ki bina kisi baat ke Ishu aisa kahegi nai...lovely!!š This is worth more than all the romantic confessions of the world put together...
And as the Bhallas wait for Subbu and Simmi's turn, Sujie gets a call...I dont understand...yeh log Tata Birla hain kya...Kitni pahunch hai inki bhai??? I mean, some informer from London called to inform Sujie that Shaila Bua (the Bhallas' relative in London) is inquiring about them... and SujUbbu realize need to speed up this court marriage process before Ishu ruins their plans...matlab kuch bhi haan?? Sujata knows Shaila bua??!! Maano London nai, koi chhoti si society ho gayi!
Subbu then thinks of something cheeky and bribes the peon...(taki unka number jaldi lagwa le) and breaking into the Bhallas' selfie fest, the peon informs ki agla number unhi ka hai...
Raman is hesitant to go in, since he wishes to stand by what Ishu said...poor Ishu, she was stuck in the traffic
Raman tries to delay the registration by pointing out that they possibly cant use these garlands they've got...and Ishu is coming with the varmalas, the proper south indian ones...Sujie says "yeh sab toh hum baad mein bhi kar sakte hain...court wourt ka chakkar bahut lamba lag jata hai, aaj number aaya hai...delay ho gaya toh bahut problem hogi"
"Abhi toh inke signatures chahiye...jab Iishu aa jayegi toh varmala bhi exchange kar lenge"
Simmi too doesnt want the process to start without Ishita's presence, and Toshi too wants her bahu to be there..Raman tries to stall it by assuring them Ishu wud be here in 5 mins, 10 mns...None of the Bhallas and Iyers noticed the DESPERATION Subbu and Sujata had in gettng the documents signed...I mean, 5 more minutes they COULD have waited no?? But nai, Bhallas pe toh shaadi ka bhoot sawaar hai...Subbu insists time is running out and they shud get down to signing the documents...Appa and Bhalla ji agreed...Raman looks on, helpless as Subbu bends down to sign the papers...
PRECAP - Ishita storms inside the court room and snatches the pen from Subbu's hand...she looks ANGRY...determined and ready to expose this scoundrel...Everyone looks shocked...Good going, Ishu! We need to get rid of ths moron jaldi jaldiš” What a useless villain he is, cant understand his acting, expressions, motive..NOTHING... Utter waste of screen space, he is...
P.S. Sr.Bhalla ji should be given more screen space, I feel...at the start of the episode, I ABS loved his warm convo with Simmiš Its wayy better than, "Koi ni Toshi ji" "thand rakho Toshi ji"
Missed seeing Amma and Mihika...and ACP wasnt invited, despite being Subbu's friend? Strange...
P.S. Just for the sake of drama, CVs please dont show that Shaila Bua flew in the very same day to rescue Simmi In fact, I suggest she SKYPE her findings and convey it to the Bhallasš
P.S. WHERE ARE THE KIDS?? HOW AND WHERE DO THEY GO MISSING DURING ALL IMP FAMILY FUNCTIONS??
P.S. And contrary to popular forum belief, I have no probs with Ishu being the "superwoman' here and unraveling the truth, since OBVIO she has all the reasons for suspecting Subbu (he was her EX dammit and she has come across more telltale signs(as regards Subbu) than Raman has)!! I mean, for Raman to be the Tashandaar hero here (just for the sake of not "glorfying the female lead) he would've chuck his office and do multiple rounds of Subbu's house and myriad chores around his own house, to get a chance to KNOW creepy stuff about the guy and then mull on it...kuch bhi
Oh, and also, Subbu made a fake show of solidarity and love for Anu baby...by saying Simmi had to first sign the adoption papers, only then the marriage will commence...
