Madhavi and Santoshi are alike in many ways.
1) They both are loud.
2) They both don't like anybody putting their words down.
3) They both are emotional.
4) They both love their kids unconditionally.
5) They both worry about the society talks and its effects on their kids.

But still there is a difference between them.

Madhavi Iyer's daughter, Ishita was termed barren and banished by the society but still Madhavi did not lose hope. Her daughter's insult at every function was like a thorn pricking her and making her more determined to marry her daughter off but still she always allowed Ishita to take the last decision. She made both her daughters independent, and even put this as a condition in front of the Bhallas that they would allow Ishita to work even after her marriage.

Mihika took a wrong step, married Ashok and is now back but instead of forcing her into a marriage, she nurtured her to get back her broken confidence and try and find a job and be independent.

Santoshi Bhalla's kids are all facing problems. Her youngest daughter wanted to study but Mrs. Bhalla got scared looking at the scenario and forced her to get married which in turn led to a deceit groom approaching them and then once again she led her daughter to get married to another man in that very mandap which led to Rinki coming back.

Simmi, her eldest daughter's husband turned out to be a scum bag but time and again Mrs. Bhallas talks made the audience realize that although she did not like Param now but still wanted Simmi to go back. Now when the girl had finally decided to stand on her own two feets and going through a bad phase of divorce, her mother instead of nurturing and supporting her like Madhavi once again forces Simmi to consider Subbu, who looks like a good prospect according to her and the consequences of it will be faced by Simmi very soon.

Though both Mrs. Bhalla and Mrs. Iyer are orthodox but still Mrs. Iyer is more sensible one when it comes in raising her kids as she tries to understand their problems and give them time to get back. She also understands the value of education and being independent. whereas Mrs. Bhalla gets easily swayed and scared by the society's word and since no one negates her words in the house, a hasty decision is taken from which stems up so many problems in her kids life.

Though India makes fun of education lust that South Indians have, that educated brain gives balance in life's big decisions

Another one similarity left.. Both do OTT acting.. Yesterday amma's reaction after seeing Raman and Mrs.bhallas actions when she dons modern costumes.. Aiyo aiyo 😆

Rest were correct.. Mrs.bhalla though shows affection.. She is always on the point of getting them married without supporting them in their decisions..

bt toshiji has spoilt the lives of her children although unintentionally. 😕

somewhere i feel this is also a difference in cultures too , just my pov no offence to any culture though

More than the culture, its the upbringing and education. Santoshi is not that educated as you can make out by her English spells. She has been raised up with the view that girls should get married and cook food for her husband. They should be in that relationship even If husbands are not good whereas Madhavi is educated, though she also feels that daughters should be married at an early age even when she is studying, but she makes it a point to clarify this point of education and working before getting her daughters married.
