okay - I lied...ranting is not over. Even though I very much understand that this is a stupid TV show, I cannot get over how backwards this marriage drama has been.
-You want to get your daughter married quick b/c you are scared of the repercussions of your son's actions on her "marriageability" ---> okay fine
-Your daughter gets stood up and you worry about her future "marriageability" --> okay fine
-You blame your DIL even though your HUSBAND checked the guy out --> whatever, it's a TV show
-You now are okay with literally replacing a dulha just to get your daughter married ---> W*F
I get that in India (and even parts of the US) - people question a girl who gets stood up at the alter, but why in hells name is it the end of a girl's life?
Holy crap...in terms of sensitive issues shown on YHM - many issues have been raised and dealt with decently for a TV show, but today's nonsense regressive, anti-modern women drama has my blood literally boiling...
I can take the GKC rantings. I can even take Ishita/Raman not pressing charges against Ashok-Suraj-Param after the bachelor party. But I just can't handle how pathetic it looks for educated women to both force and willingly agree to a "dulha switch."
Yes the "Dulha switch" has happened in many TV shows before this, but never before have I seen an educated woman go and literally emotionally blackmail a man who has gone through hell to marry her sister-in-law. And similarly to see an educated woman so willing to "go with the flow" and marry whoever is shoved in front of her.
