G, firstly I completely understand your opinion of the episode... it was a bit disheartening to say the least. I hate that Raman has been reduced to this- when he didn't need to be, when he doesn't deserve to be. And of course there are much better ways to go about this kind of track, but it is what it is I suppose. The most we can do is hope that the torture is quick , if not painless.
His reason for taking the job seems flimsy and the shots of his reflections regarding the family not well thought out- especially the Adhi scene, Raman wasn't even there to see that scene when Adhi came home from playing football on ISHRAnniversary. But hey, considering the amount of thought that's been put into this track , I suppose we couldn't expect anything more.š¤¢
Despite his job related scenes there were things to love as well... mostly ISHRA. I loved the scene by the car , more than the flirting in the car I adored the scene outside of it. All logic about the need for the job and money aside- the one thing I appreciated about the scene with Ashok is KP's brilliant acting, he shrunk himself, his body and shoulders to make himself look even smaller, and it made the whole atmosphere of the scene so much more effective. Ashok looked more menacing, Raman, more helpless and hapless... wonderfully done. ššš
And then he comes back out knowing that he has failed himself with this decision, he consoles himself with the thought that it is for the family. And for Raman, as for Ishita- family comes first, even before themselves as we have seen countless times. But he sees Ishita with her worry and the ever present light that surrounds her and he knows that he must put on an act because she knows him so well. I loved how he visibly pulled himself together and approached her- I loved her anxiousness and relief. That's the reason he made that choice, to see her relief.. and at least he got that.
And then the moment in the car, for me putting aside the flirting it was about him wanting some semblance of normalcy back, to remind himself of what he has in his life that can never be taken away. He craves her and her positivity and love in a way that is so endearing and I loved that scene for that. Because the flirting, it comes natural to Raman, especially now that he's in love, but with this woman it's like a kind of obsession for him, to get close to her energy and get the innocent, sweet, sexy reaction- she's a different kind of woman then he has known in the past and being in her presence energizes him a way that is so visible...
And the the aarthi scene... gawd how precious was that? I loved seeing Ishita like that, so reminiscent of that infamous 'button popping' scene we all discussed yesterday- so fresh and beautiful and Raman in his whites ... *sigh*. Such a beautiful, typical, moment- the kind of moments that make you forget, if for a second, that the great RKB is once more at the bottom rung of corporate ladder.
What I loved most about the scene was not the speech, or the trophy but the look on his face when he came and did the aatrthi- such awe, like he couldn't believe she was real, that she was his... Being a kind of a typical moment , all I could think was how much this man needs his Ishita- more then her grand gestures it's the little things that shake him and made him adore her. In that most vulnerable of moments while he stood there knowing that he is walking into the lions den and battling with the guilt of being untruthful to the woman that has proven to be his biggest strength since she entered his life... she came and calmed him in an unexpected and much needed way. His self references 'your Raman', without any prompt and with the utmost certainty and warmth just added another level of beauty to that scene. It brought me back to the first time she acknowledged him as such as she watched him tell Mihir to forgive Shagun because he (Raman) has moved on in his life with Ishita. As far as I can recall, this is thefirst time that Raman has referred to himself as such to Ishita, and that it comes on this day is undoubtedly significant . Beautiful.š
One thing about thing about this train wreck of a track- it truly allows for KP to show his full acting abilities and really impresses on the ISHRA connection and understanding. Atleast that's something to look forward to I suppose. š¤¢
I just hope this job track continues in this bullet train speed and RKB 2.0 makes his glorious entry as thing come out in their volcanic explosion at Rinki's wedding... and continues on his coming out party ... until then...
