I'm a Telugu girl and I asked my mom regarding this. She said that seemantham ( v call it like that) is done only for the first to be born. For 2nd child parents just take the pregnant lady to home and presents her saree bangles and sweets. Its not done in a grand way.

I am from Andhra Pradesh and for us, Godh Bharai (or seemantham as we call it) is done only for the first pregnancy, but if the family chooses to do it for other pregnancies, they can. It's just based on the family's choice, so maybe the Iyers chose to do it again for Vandu.
