You know I am of the belief that people aren't evil, they maybe selfish but they aren't evil. The writers of this show could have made Shagun a complex negative character acting out of selfishness but alas they made her into a very unidimensional and boring character.For me Raman's feelings towards Shagun are best explained in the conversation he had with Mihir about forgiving Shagun and I was so taken aback by the maturity of the scene. I was so happy to see such a scene played out on Indian tv, a protagonist saying 'everyone has the right to be happy, I have moved on in life, and my ex has the right to do the same' I was so happy to see such complex and mature thoughts on TV. But they ruined Shagun's character and now I feel difficult to sympathize her.@Malo: Yes of course Ruhaanika, she is brilliant and so is the rest of the supporting cast. YHM cast rocks!
@Bold-WORD! I think they did try keeping her grey- I remember her being a little maternal in the start. But somewhere along the way they completely converted her into a through and through Black character.(Of course- for the sake of TRP's). Now they have taken her so far along that forget sympathy- the mere fact that she is destroying her child completely so that she gets a lifetime supply of money and luxury is against the very nature of motherhood- and is more than enough to wish the worst for this character. Even if we forget the other stuff she has done.
I don't have a problem with her walking out of her marriage- yes, Raman was right- she deserved to be happy too- But what I do have a problem is with the WAY she went off- by proving your husband as an abusive father and dumping your 6 month old? She did every thing she could to hurt him- why? coz he could not give her a big enough house and a big enough Car? All their flashbacks actually increase my disgust- She always treated him like a piece of trash not worth her attention and now wants everything back coz she did him the favor of giving birth to his children. Somehow she thinks that makes her superior to Ishita. How shallow is that? It is also the reason I can maintain positivity in this shitty track- If they show her winning- what is the point of bringing in a whole show on nature vs Nurture anyways?
