I don't think majority of TV viewers watch TV to "learn" something from it. TV is for entertainment, and producers show what sells, and in today's world, drama is what sells. So don't worry so much about the "social message" of television soaps. People know better than to take them seriously.
Be that as it may, sometimes I feel television also shows the reality of today's world. Instead of showing a social message, I think television conveys the reality of our society. Unfortunately, there are so many cases where doctors are bribed by rich people and accept the bribe. It happens so often in India and everyone knows it. In my opinion, if the content of television must change, first our society needs to change. There should be strict laws against bribes, laws which punish the offenders severely. If bribes are so commonly done in society, how can we expect television not to show them?
We can make a hue and cry about how television is showing wrong things, but we cannot forget that reality is not that far from what television shows. Unfortunately, in cases of rape and assault, women are often blamed, even if they are the victims. So the media blaming Mihika for what happened to her is not far from reality. Also, the doctor taking a bribe from Ashok is also not unrealistic. It happens almost everyday, not only in the medical field but also with the police. If a rich person assaults a poor person and the victim files a complaint against the assaulter, the rich can simply bribe the police to drop the charges. It happens everyday. Can anyone deny it?
First change the mentality of our society, and then expect television shows to change. Television is often just a mirror of society, so I'm not at all surprised with what YHM or any other TV show is showing.
