Part 4
He knew that he was under serious problem, and if didn't distract her, or himself right now, who knew he'd lose it.
He looked away instantly and tried to concentrate on the dark shadows, and then something caught his attention, something, or rather someone emerging from the darkness of the corner.
He tried to concentrate, but the proximity of certain woman was continuously distracting him, making him look back and forth, he knew, just that moment that best thing now would be too move back.
He took few steps towards his left and came out of her captivity, while she looked at him, her eyes boring into his, and smiled softly or rather knowingly and shook her head and said, "Bohot pyaar karte hain aap apni Biwi se?", he didn't know if it was a question or just an statement, so he just nodded affirming.
While her smile broadened and looked at him with an unusual glint, that he understood as respect, which took him in the world of amazement yet again! Who knew women like her carried such an emotion. And then again looked over his shoulder, to find a man, standing in the corner, while his eyes fixed on them, and then he averted his gaze at her and said pointed behind her back through his eyes, "Tumhara customer."
She, for a while looked at him for a moment, and then turned abruptly around, and sighed and walked towards the man in shadows, she held his elbow and took him in further into darkness and pushed him against one of the pillar, while Raman just looked at her, with a certain feeling of anguish bubbling inside, he averted his gaze when he found their shadows mingling and walked further away with an alien feeling in his heart.
But the next second he heard the man screaming, "WHAT DO YOU THINK OF YOURSELF, I KNOW THAT YOU ARE LYING! I KNOW SHE IS ALSO LYING! I SHOULD HAVE TRUSTED YOU... I EVEN STOLE FOR HER,FROM MY FATHER SAFE! IT WAS ALL A WASTE... SHE DOESN'T LOVE ME... I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN!!!" and with that he pushed the woman away, while she burst into peels of giggles, as if the man or rather what it seemed to him a boy burst into tears.
"Why are you laughing? I am not cracking a joke here... I'll kill myself, only then you and she would believe me, you think it's a lie... you think my love is a lie?" he continued crying.
Raman by know was alert, he didn't know what was going on, but knew one thing and that was, he was not her customer, and the mere fact was like an ointment for his... no he didn't know that!
The boy suddenly took out a paper-cutter and pointed towards her, "You think I am joking, don't you?"
Raman came forward, in jiffy, while she looked at the boy smiling, or rather mocking and said to Raman, "Aap mat padiye iss chakkar mein... janti hoon mai isse, ye bachha hai kuch nahi karega."
But Raman stood there in case, while turning away from the boy, she asked Raman, "Aap hi kuch samjhaiye isse, ab ye pyaar-vyaar ki baatein mere samajh ke toh bahar hain... marne ke liye taiyyar hai ye... bataiyye na ke marne se kahin zada jeena achha hai..."
She looked at him expectantly to make the boy understand, while Raman turned away, with slumped shoulders and shook his head in negative and said, "Mujhe nahi pata..."
While she looked at him and said angrily for not getting comely response, "Ab aapko kya ho gaya hai..." and then turned towards the boy with same anger and said, with blazing eyes, " aur tum... dhoka nahi de rathi hai woh... dargah pe gayi thi... bearish mein phaas gayi hogi..."
"Mujhe pata hai ke vo kahan hai... maine use khud dekha badi car mein baithte hue... vo gayi hai kisi aur ke saath... dekha tha maine use..." he said, still crying.
"Arre... sachh mein... aisa kuch nahi Ankit, who bhi tumse pyaar karti hai... chalo, mere saath mere kamre mein chalo..." she said dragging him away.
"Nahi! Mai yehi intezaar karunga Chand ka..." the boy said adamantly.
"achha... ek toh tumne paise churaye... aur tumhara baap aa gaya toh... na tum bachoge aur na Chand... Isiliye kehti hoon mere kamre mein wait karlo..." and then making him understand, she took him with herself.
While Raman still stood there, he had seen many women, but none who really thought about others, while being all of high society and of respectable families, all of them were too engrossed in attaining their personal benefits that seldom they thought about others, and other's happiness. While here she was, one who was not even considered a human, just a flesh, and she was helping so many... do all of them think alike, or was she really different? He wondered.
He was alone for a while, his phone battery was long gone, while all he was left with was loneliness, once again he plunged into the long lost memories, that often haunted him, if only he could do something about it, he felt so lost in them, that he didn't knew when someone stood behind him and he came out of his reverie startled when that someone whispered in his ears, "Yaha kyun khade hain aap..." Raman stumbled as he turned towards the source and was shocked to see a him standing there, and looked at him with vacant expression.
"Kya hua? Yahan akele kyu khade hain aap... chaliye aap mere saath chaliye... Mujhe pata hai aap ko kya chahiye..." he put his arm over Raman's shoulder and pulled him towards self.
While Raman's eyes became soccer big with horror and he shrugged off his arm that was comfortable wrapped around his shoulder and stumbled back, and said faltering, "Excuse me, you are wasting your time here, I am not what you think I am..." and started to walk away, when he felt a tug on his court sleeve, only to be held back by him, making Raman sigh with embarrassment.
"Toh Rasta badal ke dekho na... try karne mein kya jata hai... vaise bhi mai first time charge free rakhne wali thi, aapke saath..." he looked at Raman and smiled naughtily, and moved forward, capturing him between his arms and was just inches apart from him, while Raman stood there too astonished to move, when he, to his relief heard her musical laughter.
"Chand! Kya kar rahi hai?" she said giggling.
"Kya! Tu yahan... ye tere saath hain kya?" he asked.
While she said nothing, only smiled while looking at Raman, who now looked surprised and asked, "Chand!" pointing towards him.
She just smiled and then walked towards Chand and said in a serious tone, "Woh ankit bohot gussa tha, keh raha tha ke usne tumhe car mein kisi ke saath jaate hue dekha... Chand, usne apne baap ki safe se rupay churaye hain... who tumhare saath bhagne aaya tha... maine usko station pahucha diya hai... tum jao vahan... agar uske ghar valo ne pakad liya toh bohot badi musibat ho jayegi... tum toh janti hi ho..."
"Mai ye sab uske liye hi toh kar rahi hoon... paise juta kar uske saath bhaag jana chahti thi iss narak se..." Chand said, her eyes glistened.
"Tum jao uske saath, mai yaha sab sambhal loongi... woh tumhara intezaar kar raha hai..." She said, looking at him affectionately.
"Theek hai... mai chalti hoon..." chand sighed, and walked a few steps away and then turned towards her and smiled and said, "Tum bohot achhi ho Ish..." and then looked at Raman and stopped without completing and said wiping her tears, "Mai tumhe waha se phone karungi..." and then walked away sniffing into her dupatta.
While she looked at his retreating figure, that seemed to blur and blend in the darkness.
Raman, all through continued looking at her in silence and awe, he didn't knew what other facets of this woman he was going to witness this night, he was surprised, would be an understatement. How can a woman of her category be so selfless? Weren't they supposed to be the nastiest of the clan? The most selfish of the lot, whom he detested till now, and so much that he claimed those high society girls to be the same, who used to threw themselves at him, for his wealth and fame!
Can he be that wrong?
They stood in silence for a moment or two when few men entered, among them was one man, aged, approximately between fifty or so, he was short and was wearing a kurta and paijama, while other men were young and stout, and there expression told him that they meant business, and seemed to be on some serious quest!
"Kaha hai vo nalayak!" the old man said, his voice told that he was extremely tensed, while the other boys searched in all around the darkness.
"Aap use poochiye na... usse zaroor pata hoga...aur Zafar bhai ne yehi ke liye toh kaha tha." Said one man wearing, work shirt and pant, as he looked here and there.
The old man, walked across the place, and stood infront of the bench where she was sitting and smoking and asked, "Mera beta kahan hai? Mai janta hoon ke tumhe pata hai... please mujhe bata do ke woh kaha hai..."
While she just kept smoking, and looking in other direction.
"Bata do na... bhagwan ke liye bata do... Dekh mai janta hoon ke tumhari use bohot achhi dosti hai..." the old man said, and then turned towards Raman and requested, "Kya aapne dekha use? 20 saal ka hai bass..."
While he kept silence, but she spoke, "uske ghar walon se pooch na... mujhe kya pata... aur vaise bhi itni bearish mein yahan kyu aayega?"
"Mai aaya na? ye bhaisaab aaye na?"the old man said looking at Raman, who was standing there mute till then, and looked at the old man and clarified.
"Meri Car ka accident ho gaya hai... mai apne friend ka wait kar raha hoon..." he said while pointing at his Suv, standing at the midst of rain.
While she glared at him but kept quite. When one of the younger man said, "Taauji, shayad Vo station gaye ho... wahan chal ke dekh sate hain..."
"Toh phir yahan time kyu waste kiya? Chalo..." the old man said angrily.
The old man and young men left, while she walked up to the road to see them walk away, and let out a chuckle, while Raman just smiled.
"Kya saab... aap bhi chup rahe? Mujhe laga tha ke aap bata denge..." she said and shook her head and looked at him naughtily, "Kahin aap Chand se toh nahi darr gaye?... agar mai nahi aati toh woh aapko kachha chaba jati " and she let out fresh giggles.
While he looked at her wide eyed and then smiled and shook his head.
"Mai toh bass yehi mannat mangti hoon ke Chand ki life theek honi chahiye, vo jahan bhi rahe... Ankit bohot pyaar karta hai usse..." and looked somewhere in infinity as if in deep thought, and then turned and looked at him with a smile, who returned it to her.
And then again she spoke, as she sat down on the bench, once again, "Aapko ajeeb lagta hoga na... Do aadmi ek saath...?" with a smile.
"Nahi aisa kuch nahi... mere bhi kuch dost..." And left it incomplete.
While she smiled, at his hesitance and averted her gaze to somewhere far and said, "Jo bhi ho, jaisa bhi ho... bass pyaar hona chahiye..." and then looked at him with a smile and asked, "Haina?"
While he looked at her in silence, like he was measuring the depth of her words, mentally and finally said, "Haan". And then looked away, towards the pouring rain, and dark clouds, like he was deep in thought.
She had finally made him admit one thing that he had been denying from six years, he didn't know why, but every word she spoke seemed to be really meaningful. But he hated himself of agreeing with her, with that particular thought, or was he anguished of finally finding it right!
He didn't know, but he knew, just that instance, that, that night was going to be longest night of his life, that, that night would stay with him longer than any other moment of his life.
