CHAPTER 14 B H A A G E R E M A N N
P A R T B
Chapter Edited by Dhara (@dsgirl)
Mihika squealed as she watched Raman who observed Ishita. Nitya, who walked along with Mihika had looked at her weirdly. Mihika had just pointed towards Raman, who had just left his seat and then returned to it, he finally shook his head and had finally taken his seat as he observed his wife. Mihika and Nitya squealed at each other, held hands and ran towards Paati, Amma and everyone who was seated towards them.
"Peri Amma, Raman!" Mihika had screeched in a surprisingly low tone.
"Kya hua Raman ko? And Nitya, you are the bride... Why are you running around with this girl. Ishita ke wedding pe tum sab bechare Raman ke sar pe baithe the."
"Please. Jiju itna hot hai and then pehle baar aise couple se mile the jo shaadi karne ke liye court tak paunch gaye the - muhurat and all long forgotten. Par jab when it came to rituals, they had all kinds of problems with. Besabar but ziddi. And then that was Akka's happiest day. Kud Kud Kumar se jo shaadi karne wali thi. She couldn't last a second without smiling."
"Please. Woh Punjabi. Poore wedding ka satyanash kiya. Engagement mein prasadam ke nam pe vodka."
"Amma. Your fault also. Full Tamil wedding. With Punjabi folks. It's good that all they wanted was Ishita."
"Don't start. Uske dance. Tsk. Tsk. And engagement ke night se pehle full night party and puja mein talli. Thank god Raman and Senior Mr. Bhalla were the sane ones."
"It was so funny."
"What funny? Engagement ke night pe kaunsa dulha Byah Karke Pachtaya' pe dance karta hai. And not to forget other dances. Mere proper traditional Tamil wedding ka the end." Madhavi shook her head disapproving.
"Amma. Admit it. Raman is your perfect son-in-law. You consider him to be your son. Poor guy. Ishita ka kitna torture sehta hai. Maa beti hamesha tang karti hai."
"Seriously. Pehle ka Raman and this Raman. Kitna farq hai."
"Koi farq nahi hai. It's the same. Paati, you have to see them fight. Kitne cute hai. Ruhi and Shravan se bhi cute. Ishita mooh phulake baith thi hai and voh pehle ignore and phir Ruhi ke threats pe manana suru. Infact jab se Ruhi aayi hai, I don't think their fight even last for more than a few minutes of Ruhi's notice."
"I know, Akka. Sometimes I do wonder if Subbu was right when he said that kids bond their parents. Kabhi sochti hoon ki agar Ruhi nahi hoti toh kya Raman and Ishita yahaan poochte. They would have split up in such a short time."
"Forget breaking up, who would've thought that they would have ever married. As Raman taunts, 'Bina break ke sade hue lecturer se shadi ki hai,' and not to forget Ishita's free ka psychiatrist Bala. Infact, he's now the proud advisor to Raman too. Infact, recently.. Raman and Ishita argued as usual - both standing on either sides of Bala and Ruhi glaring at him as she stood before him. My poor petrified husband bent down to Ruhi and promised her that he'd punish her parents like the great teacher he was. And then he handed Raman a contraceptive pack and pushed him into a bedroom followed by Ishita, locking the room after them."
"Ishita?" Nitya giggled.
"Totally, I'm pretty sure Ruhi loves her parents antics way more than any cartoon out there. Get a bag of popcorn and observe them - pure entertainment." Mihika promised.
"You're kidding, right? Come on, stop pulling our legs." A cousin exclaimed.
"I second, Mihika." Nitya exclaimed, her hands raised in the air. "The first time I came across Ishita, I wanted to go to up to her and ask her so many questions. But there stood Raman Bhalla's security team guarding Ishita and Ruhi like blood hounds. No media person was allowed near them without proper certification. Raman Bhalla, the stoic business man had smiled when he watched them walk down the aisle. And then after being as Mihika puts it Khadus'that he is to all the media, the total no nonsense, dude, I managed to be locked into the security grid by mistake and then I saw them together. He had totally transformed into a gentleman when I came to Ishita. And he adored Ishita's daughter. Ruhi is just too adorable, so I thought that maybe, they were just acquaintances as the only official detail released about Ruhi's father was that he was a part of the corporate clan. And then I saw them. At the diner, Raman's security had checked the place out several times. And then they came in and you could notice his fierce protective nature when it comes to his family. It's hard to imagine that people of their status have never hired nannies when it comes to Ruhi. From what I've noticed Ruhi is never handed over to any of their staff."
"Ruhi is Akka's miracle child. Akka is fiercely protective of Ruhi. Even when it comes to Raman. Raman being Ruhi's father isn't spared too. And Ruhi and Raman, they merge forces when it comes to protecting or standing up for Ishita, because according to them Ishita is too good for her own liking. Too naive. And it's mostly Ruhi and Ishita against Raman. And Ruhi grows up cocooned by her parents, and despite that they are doing an amazing job when it comes to her upbringing," Mihika stage whispered, suddenly emotional.
"Look at them, and he comes to me for advice." Bala muttered, pointing towards Ishita and Raman.
"Tying her hair? He even brushed her teeth when she sprained or was it fractured her wrist. Forget that, fed her. Still does, along with Ruhi. They pamper Akka. Maybe that's mother hood. I just want to get married, do the dirty and have a kid just like Ruhi. Akka se hoga, then mein thodi kam hoon. Sirf uss Buddu ca cooperation chahiye, if he doesn't follow his Bhai all the time. Right, Buddu." Mihika exclaimed with a smile on her face, her palms locked into a fists as she turned to her fiance.
"Whatever you say, baby." Mihika's Buddu had replied.
The gang burst into laughter as they watched Ishita initiate the dance.

"Ishita's long fantasy. To dance on this song. Subbu remember, when the movie released, she would literally beg you to dance on song with her on you engagement. And he as usual, would refuse. And that man he won't even dance." Subbu's aunt reminisced. Subbu's aunt hadn't known what conspired between Subbu and Ishita or who the new guy was. All she knew was that Subbu was still in love with Ishita and that was unhealthy.
Subbu's aunt and all the other onlookers looked on as the good looking guy who sat along with Ishita this morning burst out into fits of laughter. They wondered what was so funny. Ishita looked great, and this was how Ishita was - the mischievous one. She would love to enact, get lost in her dreams and make sure that anyone and everyone near her would lose themselves in her fantasies along with her.
The boy in question, Subbu's aunt thought, was rude. Extremely rude.
Nitya's extended family members walked in along with Vishwa's family members and others who would be present in today's day of 'knowing each other'. Vishwa's family heads raised their hands to bring a stop to anyone greeting them, they had wanted to watch whatever was going on at the moment.
Two little girls and Shravan ran over towards them and in a moment had seated themselves right in front of Subbu and his family members, deciding that it was the best spot to watch Ruhi's parents.
"Ruhi, aaj tumhare papa pitne wale hai." Tamanna exclaimed.
"Vahi toh main kehti hoon. Papa toh pitne wale hai. Yeh papa bhi na," Ruhi whined totally worried for her father. Why did he have to be so Papa-ish?
"Wahi toh main kehta hoon, boss. Raman toh Ishita se sure pitne wale hai. Dekho. Ruhi, look."
"Papa toh aaj gaye." Ruhi placed her tiny head onto her tiny hands.
"Kya Anmol-ji, kyun meri best friend ko daayan banane mein lage ho. Ruhi, Ishita aisa kuch nahi karegi. Yeh Anmol-ji bhi na." Ragini reprimanded as she handed the four people in front their snacks, juice and popcorn (as they had right fully demanded). Trust Anmol to be a kid around kids.
"No, Mama. Papa is right, Ishita aunty today surely Ruhi ke papa ko pitwayegi. Ruhi, tum tension mat lena. Shravan and I will sort every thing out. We are siblings then best friends, right. We will."
"Best friends, women like them need to come together. The same kind. The first marries days into her husbands death and the second.. Don't even ask about Ishita." a lady at the back muttered.
"Papa toh gaaye, kaam se. Gone."
So that man was this kid's father, Swamini mused. So Ishita was dancing with the father of someone's kid, so uncultured unlike Sawmini's darling daughters Nalini and Nitya.
Subbu's and Vishwa's relatives looked on as Ishita fumed. She had snatched the dupatta off her face, huffed puffed and then walked infront of that man. She had even stamped on his foot. Such violence. This wasn't Ishita. Ishita wasn't violent. Ishita was dramatic, but to her limits. She lived in her fantasies. She had laughed and fooled around Subbu, that too to her limits. They had never seen get her riled up. Even when Subbu had refused to dance on the song that played now, she had just nodded and agreed to his decision. What had changed? Why was the guy dressed in white who had successfully personified perfection so important to her?
Why did his actions matter to her. They looked on the guy in question burst out into another fit of laughter. And looking on towards Ishita's parents, siblings, Nitya and another unknown stranger, they were laughing at the scene in front of them. Subbu and Vishwa's relatives wondered if they were missing out on the joke. The guy had ignored Ishita stamping his foot and had placed an arm around Ishita's shoulder as he whispered something to her to which she further glared at him.
"Is he going to kiss her? In public? Kiss a stranger? Another scandal that involves Ishita?"
She had then proceeded to bite into thin air as the guy in question smirked and carefully dodged her move. And she had continued dancing.
What had even happened to Ishita? What had changed in the last seven years. Now not only did she threaten a stranger but also danced around him. Sweetly torturing him. Never had she ever acted this way infront of their Subbu. Ishita wasn't a fan of affections in public. She once found it really tiresome and uncomfortable. What changed now?
The guy in question had danced to the song as Ishita looked at him in pure amazement. Was Ishita in love with a married man?
He had ended 'his dance' with her in his arms and in his arms she lay as she looked at him and then pointed towards the set of choreographers. The boy had his arm around Ishu's shoulder and she had placed her head of his as they took note of the instructions given to them.

"Ruhi,"
"Paati. Papa abhi pit te pit te bach gaye."
"Apne notice nahi kiya, Ishu ne tumhare papa ka dress pehna hua hai,"
"Haaawww, maine notice hi nahi kiya. That means Last night jo jagga," Ruhi giggled.
"Very right. What is this Ruhi, Mikku chitti ko no hug? Kitna miss kiya maine Ru ko."
"Pehla hug mama ka, then papa then you, okay?" Ruhi pouted as she placed forth her deal.
"Deal," Mihika giggled as she lifted Ruhi up.
"Shravu and Tammy kaha hai?"
"They just ran away,"
"Kyun?"
"I don't know,"
=_=_=_=_
"Madhavi, what is Ishita doing on-stage? That too with a stranger? Is she up to create another scandal? If Subbu,"
"Let's not talk about Subbu and I haven't brought my daughter along so that you'll can have a jolly good time dissing her. Subbu and Ishita is a ship that has long sailed and sunk. Let's not bring it up again. Especially not in front of Ishita's family or in-laws. We have come to attend Nitya and Vishwa's wedding, let's do that and leave. I have nothing more to say when it comes to my daughter."
Madhavi walked away. This is the reason she had shielded Ishita from their family. This self centred chauvinist patriarchal society.
"Appa, cut Ishita some slack. That guy is hot. Who wouldn't dance with him if asked to. I would. Let Akka enjoy her moments, too." a voice called out from the crowd.
Incomplete part. Feel free to blame a certain someone (not me) for it. This is officially the chapter broken into the most parts. Next part before midnight.
