Part 14
Raman picked her up in his arms and strolled around the room. "Ruhi, you are not going back there. You are coming with us, to our house. Okay? Me and Ishita will never let anything happen to you. And i promise, that uncle and aunty will be punished.", Raman assured her.
Meanwhile, at Bhalla house, Toshiji was worried. She had no clue where Raman and Ishita were and she hadn't seen them since morning. None of them were even picking up the phone. She called up Mihir. "Beta, i cant find Raman and Ishita since morning. Both of them are not even picking up their phone.", she said worried.
Mihir reached the house in sometime and tried tracking Raman. He had called everyone from Raman's driver to his secretary. That's when he entered the house with Ishita and Ruhi. "Bhai! Where were you guys? What is going on?", Mihir asked. "Beta we were so worried..", toshiji said. "Maa, i'll tell you'll. Ishita, just take Ru inside and put her to bed na.", Raman said. By then, Mihika reached as well.
At the end of the story, everyone was shocked. No one ever thought that Ashok could do such a thing. Raman and Mihir proceeded to the police station to file a case of child abuse, while Ishita and Mihika waited back to take care of Ruhi.
"Akak, have you thought about adoption?", Mihika asked her. "Yea Miku, i did think about it. But then, me and Raman have only been married for over a month. I think we need to understand each other. I would love a kid around. But Raman, what if he is not happy?", she said. "Have you tried talking to him?", Mihika asked. "No miku, not yet. I want to give him some time before we take that kind of responsibility.", Ishita replied. Mihika just nodded.
It was almost two weeks since the incident. Ruhi was recovering well. She was still at Bhalla house. Ishita just couldn't let her go to the NGO without making sure that her princess was alright. Raman and Ishita's love and care healed Ruhi and she started becoming the bubbly happy kid again. Ishita would spend all her day with her, taking care of her.
At the same time, the case on child abuse was going on in the court. Raman and Ishita had managed to prove the Khannas guilty. They had convinced Ruhi to say the truth in the court. They stood with her throughout and convinced her tgat no harm would come to her. The final hearing was due one week later and the court had given Ruhi's custody to the Bhalla's till then.
Raman kept busy these days. He would leave early for office and come back late. By the time he would reach home, he would find a sleeping Ishita and Ruhi cuddled on the bed. He would caress both their face and giving a kiss on their forehead, he would sleep next to them. In the morning, Ishita would wake up first. She would get ready and make breakfast for Raman. By then, he would get dressed too and come out. The only little time they got together was during breakfast. They would talk over the phone during the day, but that was different. Both did miss spending time with each other.
One fine night, Raman came back from work as usual. It was pretty late and he had skipped his dinner. Not wanting to disturb Ishita, he decided to go and check in the kitchen. As he opened the refrigerator, he felt a pair of arms wrapping around his torso. He turned around to see Ishita behind him.
"Go and freshen up Raman. I'll get your dinner ready.", she told him. "And how did you know im back?", he asked her. "I always know it when you come. I cant sleep without you snoring besides me.", she replied. "Oh really? And why do I see you sleeping when I come every night?", he asked her. "That's because I love it when you kiss me and the way you run your fingers on my face before you sleep. Makes me feel special. You come directly to the room everyday. Since you didn't come in today, i came to check." she said blushing. He laughed and hugged her. He started kissing her on the neck when she pushed him away.
"Ahaan, not now husband. Go freshen up and come back.", she said. He left her to go up to their room reluctantly as she turned around to make his dinner. He came back in sometime to see Ishita setting up the dining table. "Ishu where is Ruhi? She's not in the room.", Raman asked her. "She's at Mihir's place Raman.", Ishita replied. "Mihika took her this evening. They'll get her back in the morning."
Both Raman and Ishita knew this was a plan. They knew Mihir and Mihika would have taken her so that Raman and Ishita could get some time. They loved each other and understood each other. But that didn't mean they didn't want to spend time together.
Ishita laid down the dishes when the light went off suddenly. She turned around surprised and saw Raman lighting a candle. He came and placed it at the centre of the table.
Ishita served him as he relished his dinner. It was after really long that he had a proper meal. Ishita sat next to him and kept adoring him. As he finished, he looked up to see her staring at him.
Raman helped her in clearing the kitchen and together they walked out. They were walking towards their room when suddenly, he picked her up in his arms. "Raman let me down. What are you upto?", Ishita asked shocked. "What do you mean what are you upto? Isn't it evident? Carrying my wife upto the room", he replied with a smirk. "And why do you think i cant walk?", she asked. "I don't think you can't walk. Its just that i don't want to waste any time in having you in my arms." the reply made Ishita go red. She was blushing, hiding her face in his chest. That night, Raman and Ishita, indeed, decided not to let each other move away even for a second. They were glued to each other.
"Raman, wake up", Ishita called out the next morning. "Let me go please. We need to change. Ruhi will be here anytime now.", she pleaded as she tried to move his hand and leg wrapped around her possessively as he slept.
He lazily opened his eyes to see his wife struggling to get out of his arms. "Good Morning wife, what are you trying to do?", he asked her. "Raman let me go. Mihir and Mihika can be back anytime with Ru. And you get dressed too please.", Ishita pleaded. "On one condition. I want my morning kiss.", he said. She slowly came close to him as he loosened his grip on her. Giving a quick kiss on his cheeks, she ran off to change.
"Ishita, there are a few papers on the table. Sign them before you go down.", he told her. "What is it Raman?", she asked him. "Nothing much, just some investment that i want to make in your name.", he replied. As she went to the table to see what the papers were about, Ruhi entered the room.
"IIshita aunty.. See, im back.", she shouted in glee. "Aww mera baby", Ishita said picking her up, "How was your night? Did you enjoy?". "yes aunty. We enjoyed a lot.", Ruhi replied cheerfully. Mihika was still at the door, smiling, looking at the bond.
"Ishita sign the papers before you go please. Its urgent.", Raman said as she was about to go out with Ru and Mihika. "And you rockstar, come here to me. Looks like you have forgotten your Raman uncle. No one misses me.", he pouted. Ruhi quickly gave a kiss on his cheek and wrapped her tiny hand around his neck. "I missed you Raman uncle. But you don't have time only. You are in office all the time.", Ruhi complained. "Now, im done with my work and i will spend all my free time with my baby.", Raman promised her.
It was the hearing to the case. Ashok and his wife Shagun were put behind bars and the best lawyers in town couldn't save them. He vowed to come back and take some revenge but Raman and Ishita chose to ignore. They were happy that the culprits were behind bars.
Later that night, Raman and Ishita were in the bedroom. She sat at one end, with her back resting against the headboard. Raman lied down with his head on her lap. She ran her fingers through his hair, as they kept looking at each others eyes. Suddenly, tears welled up in Ishita's eyes. Raman got concerned and got up immediately. He cupped har face and asked, "What's wrong Ishu? Why are you crying?"
"Nothing. Its just that i have seen so much happiness in the last few months that i feel scared. Scared that it might all be taken away from me. Sad that i might lose people i love. Now see, Ru has to go back to the NGO tomorrow. She has given me so much happiness Raman. She has been the daughter i can never have.", she said crying on his shoulders. Raman just held her and let her cry out. "Ishita, listen to me. I know you have had the best time of your life in the last few months. But trust me, future is going to be better. And get this fear out of you. You are not going to lose anyone. I promise you that. And I love you. Nothing can ever hurt you Ishita when im with you. I wont let that happen.", he assured her. " i love you Raman.", she said kissing him on the cheek. Just then, there was a knock on the door.
He went to opened the door as Ishita wiped her tears. Ru ran in with Toshiji walking behind her. Raman followed them smiling. Ishita was confused at what was going on when Raman pointed to the clock. It was 12 am of 12th Feb. It was her birthday.
"Happy Birthday Ishita", Tishiji wished her. Ishita bent forward to take her blessings. Raman came to her and gave her a kiss on the cheek. "Happy Birthday!", he wished. Ishita blushed hard as she said thanks. She kneeled down before Ruhi. "Wont you wish me baby?", she asked her. "Of course. Happy Birthday Mumma", Ruhi said.
Ishita couldn't believe what she just heard. 'Mumma?' Is that the word Ruhi had used for her? She hugged Ruhi as tears found way down her cheeks. "Say that again baby", she said. "Mumma", Ruhi repeated. Ishita showered kisses on her face out of joy. She then looked at Raman for an explanation.
"The papers you signed the other day, for investments. The adoption papers were mixed with those. I registered the moment the case was filed. Formalities should be done jn another 5 days.", he explained. She just couldn't help hugging him that very instant.
People clearing their throats got her back. She saw the whole of Iyers, Mihir and Mihika with at the door. They had all come to wish her on her birthday. The party started with music, dance and cake. Ishita was dancing with Ruhi in her arms.
After some time, she came and stood next to him. "Thank you Raman. You have given me the best gift ever.", she whispered in his ears. "Its you both who have made my life beautiful. And that's why, i love you both.", he replied. They were smiling at each other when Ruhi came running to them and jumped into Raman's arms. He held her between both of them as they kissed her cheeks together. "I have the best mumma papa in the world.", she said to both of them. "And i love you both."
With that began Raman and Ishita's perfect happy family life!
