"Sorry" he holds his left ear and grabs a drink from a waiter passing by. After having a sip, he gives her a look over from top to bottom. She knew she looked elegant in that white lace gown, almost every one had complimented her today but that one look from him is what she has been waiting for she thinks now. This was the closest he has come to compliment her and as she recalls now she couldn't complain about his particular ways of treating her. She was getting accustomed to it now, the looks, the taunts, the secret smiles. She was getting accustomed to the man in particular. When she looks at him again, he draws her attention by asking "what did you do to your hair?"
Add the questions to the aforementioned list too, she thinks to herself as she consciously raises her hand to fix her new haircut, although she had made sure the hairstylist doesn't chop her hair knowing well his preference for long hair and she was almost thankful to her constant nagging which only made the hairstylist irritated and her satisfied with just the bare minimum of trimming and no one until now had noticed the change, the tiniest but though it was. When she looked a little perplexed, he only shook his head and smiled "let it be. Its not that bad."
When she picked the tray of appetizer to serve the elders and turned, he halted her next move with his question "where is the little one?"
She turned around and pointed to the group of kids running around and exploring the farmhouse which he had chosen to start the celebrations of the forthcoming wedding. He could get used to this he thought as he looked around the peaceful ambiance of twinkling yellow lights on the trees surrounding the venue, the white balloons which defined the surface of the pool, the greenery which was throughly enjoyed by the elders along with the food and the soft misix in the background. But what made this meaningful for him was her presence. He smiled as he look her way again, across the garden, with another question in line " did you choose this tune?"
She only nodded not knowing the reason behind sudden change in the topic and his expressions. His different ways, she gathered. In that particular way that she was pondering over came the next reply " shall we dance?"
She was a little flustered at his request and was about to bump into mihika while serving the appetizer on her way when her little sister snapped her fingers in front of her eyes and asked "are you all right?" Keeping a hand over her arm and asked "have you seen your husband, mihir is having guilty pangs of leaving him in the office?"
It was then she found her voice and answered "he is over there" and pointed her fore finger towards his direction across the garden while balancing the tray in her left hand.
"Then why are you wasting your time, serving every one. Go serve him." She winked and pushed her in his direction. He came halfway to meet her with this daughter in his arms and asked her "I heard ishima has had her haircut today, is that so ishima?"
She smiled shyly at him first and then at their daughter " did you notice the pink nail polish papa?" When their daughter giggled, he faked a gasp and said " you two are going to get me bankrupt some day with your spa bills!" They family moment was interrupted by the request made by the bride-to-be to join her on the dance floor. As his little angel slided down to join her troop, he grabbed her wrist and directed her towards the dance floor to fulfill his wish.
The discourse between their eyes continued on the dance floor as they moved to the rythm of the music in the background.
