Hey Nikki
I am going to give you a 'hatke' reply to your post. I will not comment anything specific about the episode, because you have done that wonderfully and I agree with all of it (including the dialogue... ek baar maine committment 😉 )
My comment is more about the 'pre-post' that you wrote. We (all posters in IF) have usually discussed about the speed of progress of Ishita Raman's relationship. At ONE point or another each of us has even become a bit impatient. Thinking 'Yeh Kya Ho Raha hai'... yeh Dhakkan kab samjhenge... Yeh Suraj ka track kyon aa gaya beech mein.
Now, as I analyse each episode of the week, in line with the posts you made for each one of them, and my replies to them, I cannot help but say it. We have our answers now. This week is a proof of how 'normal' relationships deal with everything, as normal as they could show on a daily soap at least. This week had everything going for YHM:
- we saw a couple go through a real challenge which affects the woman's career. I am so glad that Ishita's job was given as much importance as Raman's. Both of them understand and respect the hard work they have put into their respective professions. Both of them give the appropriate amount of importance to each other's careers, without any mention of ego, pride, selfishness, self-importance
- we saw a couple look at each other in a completely different angle in the 'intimate' waala scene. Although we have seen evidence of physical attraction, and affection towards each other, we hadnt seen that 'moment' when the lightning hits both of them at the same time. As wild and crazy as our predictions were (when we saw segments about the bathrobe gift), i am so proud of this show for handling intimacy in such a delicate manner. It may sound very 'boring' of me to say this, but I was reminded of the old classic movies, where couples didnt have to hold hands/kiss/completely undress to experience that spark. In this scene, the man and woman were completely clothed, but the act and the moment was not just a spark, but lit a scorching fire!!!
- We saw a woman realise that she had finally found a man who would be with her always. And he didnt say anything to prove it. He DID things. He quietly sacrificed what he had to, to get her back the missing piece in her life. He would never be someone who'd run when the going got tough. He wouldnt dismiss her passion for her job, no matter how many times he'd taunted her that she was just a dentist, not a doctor.
- The man on the other hand was the epitome of self-sacrifice: He didn't boast, he didnt advertise, he didnt think twice about it. He did it, because, in his mind, it was a simple decision to make. His post in a superficial organization versus his wife's most important identity as a dentist. He could have put Pathak to the task. He could have fought the case in court, but when he said "I can sacrifice many more posts like this for my wife", he made a statement. He was saying that to the 3 idiots (Shagun, Ashok n Suraj), but he was accepting that to himself
- We saw the angry man taking his anger out on the people who had caused his wife grief. We saw the man not even thinking about his son being present when he did that. We saw the man who did not care what the whole world thought of his actions (not just the press, or the association people, but his own father) when he was doing what he thought was right for his wife
- We finally saw the strong woman who would be ready to go to war with the people who had humbled her husband into giving up something that was so important to him. Even earlier in the week when she cried in front of him, we saw one layer off her personality peel, and we got a glimpse into a woman who is passionate enough when provoked. Ishita has lost control before, but that was when circumstances were completely out of her hands (when her Amma was hospitalised). But this time, she lost control and how. She first poured her heart out to Raman giving him a peek into her life before him, by telling him how hard she'd worked for everything. She then poured out her heart in front of Romi, albeit a bit more angrily. She finally re-directed that anger at the right person, Suraj. She did not sit and sob thinking her husband had lost because of her, but in her own way she found a purpose in her life now. TO make sure Raman's reputation remains untarnished!
- We saw the fond relationship between Toshiji and Ishita grow a notch higher. When Ishita mentioned in front of both her mothers that she would fast for Raman, I remembered that scene where she had confided in her Amma that maybe Raman still loved Shagun. This time, she was openly declaring in front of her family that she wanted to do something for Raman as his wife. Not because thats what her mother in law asked her to do, or because thats what is the right thing to do, but because she WANTED to do something for him, his prosperity.
- And a special mention to that saree scene where Raman wants to gift her something because she is fasting for him. I honestly thought he was doing that because his mother told him to. YEs, he was worried that she was fasting, yes he also told her she could cheat and offered to help her. In his mind, there was not much importance to that fasting, but his gesture was perfect nonetheless. He didnt do that as duty, he didnt do that because his daughter told him to, he just wanted to! The thought of that gift alone surpasses every thing he's tried gifting her in the past... the dosa, the toothbrush, the bathrobe, and yes, in my eyes, its even more meaningful than his thought for the picnic.
So, long story short 😃 this week had trouble, sacrifice, gratitude, realisation, acknowledgement, prioritisation, affection, intimacy, conversation... EVERY building block of a relationship (i didnt mention trust, because by now, its already established... the foundation has been there for long)... The evidence of all these has also been in the variety in titles of the topics you made for this week!!!
and so ends my post, with a special song for the whole week ( not blue or green, imagine its both😆)
Tu Is Tarah Se Meri Zindagi Mein Shamil Hai
Jahan Bhi Jaun Yeh Lagta Hai Teri Mehfil Hai
Tu Is Tarah Se Meri Zindagi Mein Shamil Hai
Yeh Aasman Yeh Badal Ye Raastey Yeh Hawa
Har Ek Cheez Hai Apni Jagat Thikane Pe
Kahin Dino Se Shikayat Nahin Zamane Se
Yeh Zindagi Hai Safar Tu Safar Ki Manzil Hai
Jahan Bhi Jaun Yeh Lagta Hai Teri Mehfil Hai
Tere Bagair Jahan Mein Koi Kami Si Thi
Bhatak Rahi Thee Jawani Andheri Rahon Mein
Sukhoon Dil Ko Mila Aahke Teri Bahon Mein
Main Ek Khoyi Hui Mauj Hoon Tu Saahil Hai
Jahan Bhi Jaun Yeh Lagta Hai Teri Mehfil Hai
Tu Is Tarah Se Meri Zindagi Main Shamil Hai
P.S: dont kill me because I digressed from your epi-waala comments, I couldnt resist
