Prologue
"I know you don't care
You don't care about me
I'm just something in the way
Something you don't wish to see.
You only speak to me under sufferance
You'd far rather pack me off somewhere else
You don't want to have anything to do with me
You make me feel like that myself."
Mist of memories gushing through Ishita's mind whilst, thinking about the last few words she uttered to Subbu, her first ever love.
Life is never easy, it is never beautiful, but certainly colourful. Ishita learnt that all the hard way. You can never rely on anyone. You can never let your guard down for anyone or anything. Love is a myth made by some insane and helplessly bored man. You need to learn to fend for yourself at a young age.
The feeling of love was like nothing - because it was nothing. Love is just a word someone uses to experience a high level of pleasure from another person; like manipulation. Ishita believed that if love really, truly existed in this world then why did Subbu leave her? He didn't even care about what she was being put through, the never-ending daily brutality.
Ishita's faith on love began to fade away, she felt utterly and infinitely alone despite being surrounded by family; Amma, Abba, Akka, Mihika and Bala Jiji.
For Ishita her job as a dentist and her contributions has a social worker with local charities, were her life. Amma's forceful wish for her to join therapy group after deciding that Ishita was depressed, presumably because she rarely spoke to anyone, spent quite a lot of time at work, ate infrequently, and devoted her free time being alone.
The therapy group was definitely not Ishita's thing, despite not being officially diagnosed depression- the group somehow made her feel depressed. The group featured various different characters that were going through a hard time in their lives. The weekly group meetings were held in their local community hall organised by their community leader Nikhil Patel.
"Amma, I refuse to attend a therapy group, it's not something I'm interested in and i'm NOT DEPRESSED" shouted Ishita as soon as she barged into the house.
"What happened Ishu?, How was your first group meeting?
"Not good Amma, I don't need some therapy...I'm absolutely fine"
"Ishu coming home from work, not talking to anyone, not eating much and unaware about what's happening around you is not normal. There are several people in this world that go through the same phase as you but, it doesn't mean that they stop living their lives. I just want you to make new friends and live your life. No more discussion about this now, its final you will ATTEND those group meetings"
"URGGHHH Amma"
"Ishu I'm definitely sure that in a few months time you will thank me for making you join that group, you will meet new people that will make you live again. Ishu you deserve a life just like any human being does" Amma walked away leaving Ishu in her own thoughts.
Ishita decided to continue to go to the therapy group meetings just for her Amma's happiness but, she didn't really believe that a therapy group will help her live a normal live again. Just then she remembered Amma's words "you will meet new people that will make you live again", her pessimistic views didn't really believe this judging by the people she met at the first meeting.
Questions to think about---- Will Ishita meeting someone that will support her and help her live again? What happened to Ishita? Why did Subbu leave her?
