I was watching yesterday's episode. I understand that there was sathyanarayana pooja in ishita's aunts house. They had served idly and vada. As per southindian customs that vada is only prepared at death ceremony and for good occasion especially not sathyanarayana pooja. The cvs should research before showing such things. Also sathyanarayana pooja prasad is sooji ka halwa and not mothichoor laddu

I would say lack of knowledge... I have noticed the same in Raman ishita wedding too...in their wedding mihaka was saying about garlic rasam. As per Brahmin's traditions they won't use onion and garlic for any such occasion including pooja...and vada are made only for death ceremony.. But different kind of vada is prepared for pooja and wedding... This is same for all the south Indian Brahmins ..I am not sure about Kerala though
I feel they should research a bit before the start of the serial if they want to show other traditions else they should just stick to culture they know.

No doubt this is an awesome show ...

I am a kannada brahmin and in our custom we do not prepare this vada on festivals and good occasions. I thought this was how it was in South india. Now looks like I may be wrong

As I mentioned in a few posts, CVs are exercising their creative license fully when it comes to the Iyers.😆. They got some customs and traditions right along the way.👏

The convo is about Vada so let me add my two cents here.

Vada is a standard dish at poojas, weddings, festivals etc. Brahmins make Aama (turtle) vadai (made with legumes (paruppu), particularly on special occasions like special poojas, homams (havan), weddings and festivals. Urud dhal vadai (donut style) is made in some homes on occasions esp. when guests are invited for lunch/dinner. Rava (sooji) vada is also made for tiffin or snacks.😆

Vada can be prepared in every occasion... there is no such rule in tamilnadu or Andhra... In every south indian functions... vada is a very commonly served dish
