Aaap sabko pranaam,
I am Benjamin Phillips, lekin aap sabh mujhe Ben bula sakthe hain. I have seen that my girlfriend Chloe Boro has already mentioned me in her first post on the Yeh Hai Mohabbatein' forum.
I have recently begun watching this show upon my friend's mother's recommendation and I really am not disappointed. In fact, Chloe and I love it!
I love Ruhi's character - such a well-behaved kid and her relationship with her parents and the way she understands her Ishima is heart-warming to see.
I love the Punjabi-Madrasi conflict - every conflict leaves me laughing: fabulous comedy!
I love the relationship between Ishita and Raman: so unconventional- always fighting but so incomplete without one another. You may have heard of them - IshRa's relationship reminds me a lot of Benedick and Beatrice from Much Ado about Nothing.'
I love the ambience in the Punjabi househould. Toshi Ji's dialect and her bubbly, loud nature is a treat to watch and I am thoroughly enjoying watching her performances.
I am British-German. (Mum is British and Dad is German) I have no Indian roots at all but my bestfriend from childhood- Ram, is Indian and he was born and brought up here- so he fully spoke English. His mother wanted him to know his mother tongue too and so began teaching him Hindi and along with him, I learnt too. I am a huge fan of Bollywood films, the music but most importantly, I love India. I have visited multiple times along with my family.
I have a pretty good understanding of the Hindustani culture and have many Indian friends. Hence, I can definitely say that I love the representation of the Iyers in the show. So close to reality. Really nice way to explore two different cultures in India itself. Last but not least- the social issues discussed in the show also catch my eye. I look forward to the upcoming episodes and following the development of our favourite characters in YHM.
Phir se aap sabh ko namashkar, jaldi milthe hain...😊
