Got to Agree with you, I felt the same way. & somehow when I saw that scene, this is what came to my mind: As the sky grew darker and the rain got wilder, without either of them being conscious of it, they slowly began to regain the Bond of Familiarity, that they thought never existed between them. While he was glad that these bouts of anxiety no longer overwhelmed him, it also meant he was getting comfortable here, and that scared him. Because being comfortable meant he might lower his guard and he could never let that happen.
