Shreya entered the room only to be taken in by the whiff of the freshly baked goodies. Her eyes landed on the large white cake on the table and she ran towards it, only to be pulled back by the collar.
Gunia: You're not allowed to touch that!
Shreya stopped struggling to get out of Gunia's hold once she saw the latter glaring down at her. Shreya was BollyCurry's head, as was Gunia, but her intuition told her that throwing the weight around of being co-head wouldn't go down well right now. She nodded gingerly and Gunia let go of her.
Gunia: So where are the gifts that you were in-charge of?
Shreya: Rifah is getting them, she's unloading the car right now.
As if on cue, Gunia saw Rifah walk into the room, more like stumble with every step, hidden behind the large pile of multi-coloured boxes. She immediately ran to her and helped her bring the boxes to the table.
Meanwhile, Mohini came in from the opposite room.
Mohini: The gifts are finally here (she glanced at Rifah, who was attempting to catch her breath). The food is done - I decided to make lots of dishes instead of ordering from somewhere. I hope y'all like them!
Shreya: Relax Mohini, we know you're a good cook. If you weren't one of the heads of the editing team , you could easily run a successful restaurant.
A little color rose in Mohini's cheeks as she mumbled a thank you.
Rifah: So where are the rest of them?
That was the moment when they heard loud noises from the room Mohini had just come from. All of them rushed there only to stop in their tracks in suprise.
Jenifer and Jot stood next to a Christmas tree and not just any Christmas tree, but the most beautiful tree they'd ever set their eyes upon.
Jenifer: You see that? They all rushed in here thinking we were going to murder each other. And now I'm not sure whether they're stunned by the tree or by the fact that we're standing next to each other, alive.
Jenifer laughed and Jot followed suit. The duo stood next to the tree and Jot's arm rested on Jenifer's shoulder.
Jot: Relax you guys. We aren't going to kill each other - at least not until the New Year. It's just the...erm...
Jenifer: Christmas spirit?
Jot: Yeah! Christmas spirit.
Gunia: Guys, that's the most gorgeous tree I've ever seen. I expected this from Jot cuz she's the head of the graphics team. She's supposed to make things look good using her creativity, but Jenifer, you totally surprised me.
Rifah: Technically, Jenifer is the head of the editing team and editors also make articles more beautiful by polishing them up.
Everyone nodded in agreement.
Mohini: So Rifah, you're the other head of the graphics team, I'm assuming you helped add the visual appeal to something as well?
Rifah: Yeah...(she smiled shyly) I was responsible for the gifts, I made sure they were impeccably wrapped. A present that looks good on the outside definitely earns extra brownie points.
Gunia: That's true. But why isn't everybody here? We need to get this party started!!
Mohini: I'll call them to see where they...
Pooja and Ritchelle: SURPRISE!
The duo jumped into the room and burst a party popper, filling the place with lots of confetti.
Pooja: We're all set for the party, but we need you guys to see something first.
Ritchelle: Yeah. All of you close your eyes and hold each other's hands. We have something really good for y'all!
Everyone did as they were told knowing there was no point in arguing with the duo. They had been recently promoted to head the writers team and yet the extent of their craziness hadn't gone down even a notch. Jot and Jenifer tried to make a quick escape but they were the ones that Pooja and Ritchelle held onto tightly. They all exited the conference room and entered the huge room where each of the eight team heads had an individual cubicle to themselves.
They all opened their eyes together to see a three tier chocolate cake placed on a table in the center. Along with that, the whole room was decorated with Christmas trees, streamers, stars, ornaments, and other christmas bling. The same decorations seemed to dominate the reception area and the other office rooms as well. Everyone was dazzled with the amount of color and beauty that their eyes were taking in.
Pooja: We wanted to bring a little life to this place.
Ritchelle: And it will be way nicer way to welcome all the new recruits to join us with a little holiday sparkle.
Mohini: Honestly, I cannot wait for the new recruits. It's going to be so much fun to start afresh with them - brainstorming ideas for the article, writing or editing their first article, watching them grow, it's all so gonna be so much fun!
Rifah: We get to do all of this, with a splash of Bollywood in it. What else can we ask for?
Shreya: That's right, I love BollyCurry and the work that we do here.
