Thank you for your words, I love writing though at times I think I ramble too much, so reading your words makes me feel that what I write does make sense😳

Question to myself and the occasional reader who wanders by

So this is me thinking out aloud - I dabble in PS and well, let us not wonder on how they turn out to be. This question has been plaguing me from quite some time, especially when I needed some stock of warriors for preparing a siggy for one of my good friends (she is writing a FF on elves and magic and swords - fantasy - my favourite genre) and I typed -"Fantasy warrior" as keywords for searching.

Google gave me thousands of images - quick fast and most suitable - but what caught my attention was that most of them were female and ...how to put it so that IF does not ** the words..scantily clothed.

Now I am not a prude and I do not go all 'aaawww, what a shame' at them, instead I was wondering - now these women are warriors, right? So that means they would be engaged in battle and since swords / spears/ daggers are more suited to fantasy battles, it would be combat at close quarters (okay spears can be thrown from a distance but even then it would be closer than from the point at which a rifle can be aimed), right? With me so far...good. So here is the question:

"Why are all female warriors, as an rule and with negligible exceptions, dressed in clothes that resemble leather swimsuits or bikinis and leave their tresses open???"

Check it out - from Xena to Wonder woman - all female warriors wear leather swimsuits / bikinis and and are usually so well endowed that their breasts simply spill out of the top. I agree looks can kill, but unless they were planning to have the bad guys die from ogling at their assets (ample ones, which again defy the anatomy laws - a tiny waist, narrow hips - which would suggest an equally proportioned narrow rib cage - and gigantic bust line - guess silicon implants exist even in fantasy) And what protection does that dress provide - your chest, arms and legs exposed to elements and attack. On the other hand, the alternative - wearing an armour plate is even more preposterous, in some cases the armour plate is so sharply moulded over the bust line, the points could pierce the enemy if she happened to fall on them - or maybe that was the point (no pun intended).

And then the open tresses - agreed it makes a great picture(???)- the female warrior standing, facing the enemy, sword held high, hair flying in the wind --- and that is the problem - hair flying in the wind. Does it not get in the way? And would you not be giving your opponent a chance to catch hold of them and put you at a disadvantage?

Do not get me wrong - I love watching female warriors yet this questions keeps popping up, especially when the warrior has a male warrior companion - who is swathed in a skin tight leather suit and a hooded cape with a mask (at times). All that muscle and skin hidden from sight.

Answers, anyone???

@Nynaeve - If this is rambling, then please ramble on😆 Your posts not only make sense, they also have an inspirational quality. I'm quite lazy and rarely comment on any posts. So if I felt compelled to make an appearance on this thread, well...you have arrived 😎😆Haha just kidding😆😆

I liked your latest post too. I cannot express all of my thoughts on the subject because the post will turn into a long and vicious essay😆. But I'll give you my honest opinion in a nutshell.

Men dislike seeing women in the role of a warrior. They might accept it in divine entities, but not human ones. Bloodshed and violence are male domains, you see😛😆. So (I think) the 'scanty clothes' are the creator's way of 'compensating/rewarding' male viewers for accepting a woman as a warrior. The costumes may also be a way of making the male viewer feel the lady in question 'knows her place' in the scheme of things. Okay, the viciousness has begun seeping out, so I will put a full stop here😆.

You know, Kautilya (you really must let me know your name, otherwise I would have to call you by your UN), you are actually quite right. I was actually hoping (rather foolishly) that there could be another reason for this but sadly there appears to be none.

So as you mentioned, men "sexualise" / "objectify" women who play roles that could threaten their standing / roles. But the tragedy is that even women (as far as you can make out from their UN, especially on Deviantart) or even directors of films (Wonder Woman was directed by a woman - Patty Jenkins) or authors stick to this perverse patriarchal thinking. And that is saddening and maddening.

Also I have a slightly different take on men "deifying" women - they do not hesitate to show them their place there too - if the Greek / Roman mythologies are any proof - even in India, our mythological tales are not free from such role playing. And if you care to actually get the meanings for some of those 1008 names of goddess - they are about the physical attributes. I am sure you get the drift - I can get radical in my ramblings too.

Best,
Nyna

This is a classic example of having an eye for detail but no ear for music.

The CEO of a large multinational company fell ill on a day when he had tickets to see a grand concert.

As a gesture of kindness, he gave the tickets to the company's Efficiency Expert to enjoy the concert with his wife.

Next morning, the CEO was surprised to find a report on his table, written by their Efficiency Expert and this is what it said:

Dear Sir,

Thank you for sending me to the concert last evening with my wife. My observations are as follows:

The highlight of the evening was Schubert's unfinished symphony. Although personally I think unfinished works should be disqualified, I did watch the performance and here are some, but not all, of the malfunctions I found:

1. The most obvious problem was that they had 22 violinists playing the exact same tune. Such reckless waste! I believe that at least 21 of them should be fired.

2. The drummer was doing nothing for long stretches of time. I would suggest he be put on a different clock, so we can keep an eye on him and only pay him when he actually does any work.

3. Many of the musical segments kept repeating themselves, and I fail to understand the point of having the flutes play the same segment as the oboes. If we can cut down on these repetitions, we can finish the symphony in 20 minutes instead of 2 hours.

4. Regarding the equipment: I noticed a horrible lack of standardization when it comes to musical instruments, and especially when it comes to string instruments. I've seen small ones, big ones, one you hold under your chin and some you hold between your legs. I think that one size for all these instruments will save time, money and confusion, as well as make maintenance easier.

5. The conductor, the most senior employee, did not play as much as a single tune the entire concert, and showed a complete lack of respect to the customers, while standing with his back (his back!) to the audience. There were even a few times he was threatening his staff with a stick, which should never be allowed. I would suspend him with no pay until we can get to the bottom of this. Psychological counselling may be advised.

To summarize: I am quite sure that if Mr. Schubert had avoided these issues, he would have managed to finish his work, instead of leaving us with an unfinished symphony!

Kind regards,
Corporate Efficiency Enhance Expert
