Blair Residence
Victoria Blair has always walked through life with determination and faith. When fate decided that she couldn't conceive she moved on by adopting three children and she couldn't be prouder of them. She and her late husband had done everything in their power to give their children the best of everything in the world. As his dying wish Mark Blair had only asked Victoria to take care of and raise their children well. For then he believed they would look after her. She had strived for nothing less.
But I failed you Mark. I failed you Victoria couldn't control the tears that ran down her aged but beautiful face.
"Mom" she heard her son's voice and felt his strong hand in a gentle grip on her shoulder. Brandon came around her recliner and kneeled on the floor. Gently he wiped her tears.
"You did not fail us or Dad" Brandon said knowing his mother very well "And Dad knows this. There is nothing anybody could have done to stop what happened that day"
"There is always something that could be done Brandon. I should have been more careful or perhaps more involved with Jessica's life or"
"Or what Mom? Mom you have always been our hero. You raised us the best way you could. There is no perfect way to do things Mom. Life is a stream of it's own and some things will happen no matter what"
"Your Dad would be so disappointed" Victoria said quietly
"No Dad would be proud that you were there for Jess when she needed you. You brought her back on her feet. I know that behind her wisecracks there is still a broken girl but she is definitely better Mom. Without you she would have been a mess. With you she will heal further Mom. She needs you, we need you, so don't lose hope Mom. Because if you do we fail as well" Brandon said with a reassuring smile. Reaching forward he enveloped his mother in a hug while Victoria tried to reign in her emotions.
Sinclair Residential Complex
Theodore swallowed nervously as he watched Mayi staring at her room in his house. She had been quiet throughout the journey from the hotel to his house. On entering his apartment she had at once questioned why everything in it looked so new. He replied that he did not live here much so he had furnished the place scarcely, but since he was married now and had to show it, he had the whole place furnished. Mayi had just muttered "great" with distaste and walked in.
Theo had then shown her to her room and for past five minutes she was standing silent.
"All this for a deal" Mayi finally said with a sigh.
"You don't like it?" Theodore asked.
Mayi turned around to face him. Slowly she walked towards a sofa in the living room and sat down.
"It's all very tastefully done Theo, I have nothing to complain about. My problem is that all this is for a deal" she replied while removing her heels.
Leaning back on the sofa she closed her eyes. Exhaustion began to wash over her but she did not want to sleep. She needed to find a solution to their new problem. She needed to protect her family.
Her eyes flew open when she felt a gentle massage on her feet. Theodore with all his attention on her feet was massaging it with slow soothing strokes. He had removed his suit jacket and tie. With his shirt sleeves rolled up to his elbow, he still looked extremely sexy.
"What are you doing?" Mayi asked, trying to yank her feet away.
"Just relax and enjoy it. I know how good this feels, I have been told many times" Theodore dismissed her question.
"That maybe so. But you don't need to do it" Mayi said, half-heartedly this time. She was enjoying it.
"Just relax" Theo replied.
Mayi relented and leaned back. She agreed with Theo's girlfriends, his hands did have soothing effect. This made her wonder of what all other things he might have done with it for them.
Whoa! Hold your horses' lady Mayi chided herself.
"Now I think I know another reason why women came so easily to you" she said to Theodore.
"Ah! This is one of the many reasons my darling wife" Theodore teased.
"What are the others my dear husband?" Mayi shot back.
"Are you sure you want to know?" Theodore asked in a husky voice making Mayi's pulse race.
Theodore saw the faint colour rising up her cheeks and knew his words had the desired effect. In a swift movement he sat down besides her. Mayi froze in her place and stared.
"One of the other reasons is" Theo paused while whispering in her ears to look at her.
Her pupils were dilated and he was sure her heart would be racing. He couldn't help smirking.
"That I am a good listener" he finished.
Mayi blinked once in surprise before smiling "Okay. What do you listen to? Their sob stories?"
"Anything from petty to pretty serious. So Mrs.Sinclair do you have anything that needs sharing?" Theo asked, already knowing her answer.
"No Mr.Sinclair. For now what I need is rest but next time I need some counselling I will come to you" Mayi said with a grin.
"Mayi I mean this. You can tell me if anything is bothering you and I mean this as a well-wisher" Theo said seriously.
"Thank you Theo but I am fine. Really there is no problem that requires your involvement" Mayi replied smiling.
Theo smiled back "Just remember that I will be here"
Mayi nodded "I will. Good night Theo"
As she walked towards her room, she wondered once again about the deal she was in. Was she inviting trouble with it?
