Shouldn't 'I WANT MORE', suffice?
LOLL.
If you want to know something... when Nitya toasts Armaan & me (haii), you say something about may God bless you... you type Gob instead of God. :)

PART ONE A

"Nikita... Nikita! Will you stop mumbling and get the bloody hell up please!" It was 8am, and Nikita was still sleeping... Sabiha wasn't happy about this. They both had classes at 9, but the 'princess' just couldn't get enough sleep.
"What... please, five more minutes mum..."Nikita mumbled sleepily. She was awake, but loved taunting Sabiha, who acted like her mum most of the time.
"Kasam Niks, if you're not out of this bed in 30 seconds, I'm so making you do the laundry today..." Sabiha knew how much Nikki hated washing clothes, and threats like this normally worked. Today was no exception. Nikita jumped out of bed instantly grumbling that she never got to sleep these days. Sabiha sighed, and walked into the kitchen, only to be greeted by her favourite person - Nitya.
"Diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. I'm hungry! What's for breakfast? Why isn't Niks up yet? Why are you looking at me like that?" Nitya laughed knowing Sabiha wasn't in the best of moods, and yet she just never lost an opportunity to tease her best friend.
"Nitzie, I swear, the amount of food I cook for you three is unbelievable. Sometimes I wonder if I'm your best friend, or your mother. I feel like I run after everyone, trying to get things done. And finally, the princess is up... let's hope I'm not late to class this time." Sabiha sighed, and got to making French toast for Nitya, who gobbled it all up before Nikki had a chance to walk into the kitchen. Sabiha shook her head, and smiled. Nothing changed around here... she wondered where the fourth crazy was.
"In answer to that silent question you have sitting on your face, as you look towards the door, is that she's still getting dressed last I checked. I wonder who it's for this time..." Nitya started laughing, knowing very well that she only ever got dressed for one person...
Sabiha rolled her eyes, used to Nitya's taunts about everyone's love life. Thankfully Nitya could never tease her about it - Sabiha didn't have a love life. In fact, she'd never had one. She'd spent most of her life running away from all that, although she possessed an uncanny ability to guide everyone else onto the path of love.
Just then, Nikita walked into the kitchen, wearing what could only be described as "Asian chic".
"What the hell are you wearing? I thought Nitzie was the eccentric one. Niks, please, don't scare me!" Sabiha closed her eyes for patience, and Nitya almost fell off her seat laughing.
"What? It's the latest rage, printed leggings. And by the way, 'mum', at least I'm wearing leggings for once."
"You are serious Nikki, right? I don't think I'd be able to stop laughing if you walked into college wearing that." Nitya gasped for breath, while Nikita stood there defiant in her short black dress and flowered leggings. Thankfully her cardigan wasn't so offensive - just a dash of silver embroidery.
"You two need to start taking notice of the fashion pages. I'm 25; I need to make the most of my youth." And then even Nikita began laughing at how absurd she sounded. The trio almost collapsed into laughter, when suddenly Madhuri walked in wearing the exact same leggings, only this was paired with a white top and a long black thin cardi.
"How do I... NIKKI? Oh come on Niks, you promised not to wear yours until next week! Don't make me come and take them off!" Madhuri's mood went from cloud nine to the ground in less than thirty seconds. Sabiha sighed, and walked into the kitchen to grab some fruit, and Nitya followed, wanting to avoid the first argument of the day.
"Maddy, I didn't promise not to wear them this week. All I said was that I might not wear them this week... and besides they look so much better with my dress than that... that... fake rock look you have going on there!" Nikita stood there, arms crossed, expecting Madhuri to quietly accept Nikita's decision, and change. But Nikita was unpleasantly surprised when Madhuri answered that it would take forever to find something else, and besides they were in Nikita's apartment, there Nikita could change into something else.
"Arrey, Nikki, samjha karo... Maddy's trying to impress..." Nitya quietly mentioned this to Nikita, who finally realised why Maddy looked like a train wreck waiting to be discovered. She sighed, grumbled, and went to change into plain white leggings instead.
"Oh my God, can we get going now? Please you three, I'd like to make it on time!" Sabiha was practically begging for them to leave the apartment... if she didn't get to class on time, there went her job.
The girls picked up their lunches (all prepared by Sabiha the night before), and set out to college... Excel College.
- - -
It was proving to be a sunny day when the foursome arrived. And, for the first time, they were actually early. Nikita parked that car, and stepped out, straightening her dress and sauntering off to the ladies' to check herself out once more. It could be said about Nikita that she was a vain girl, but that wasn't true. Yes, it was true that Nikita spent a lot of time getting dressed, but that was because she believed in being properly dressed all the time, no matter where she was going.
"Watch her go, it's as if a Bollywood hero was making an appearance today." Madhuri loved watching Nikita, and was just as protective of her as Nikita was of Madhuri. She loved Nikita with a crazy sisterly passion, and would lay her life on the line for her - which she had done awhile ago (that's what happens with drunken nights).
"Maddy, be thankful that she didn't wear the flowered leggings... now that would have caused a commotion." Nitya giggled, loving the arguments between her friends. She played the devil's advocate in every 'debate' they had, and had immense fun all the time. Although she was the eccentric one, she was also the little princess, and generally got her way, all thanks to her 'mother', Sabiha.
Sabiha shared a special relationship with Nitya - as it was Nitya who supported her through her bout of depression when her parents cut off all emotional and financial ties with her, all because she refused to get married. Nitya proved to be her 'devilish' angel in disguise, and Sabiha never relied on anyone more; but it didn't stop her grumblings about Nitya all the same - after all, since when did sisters get along all the time?
"Alright, cut it out you two. Give me a bit of peace for an hour... and do NOT send me silly messages during the lecture about Manav, he is a nice boy and he does NOT want me. Thank you... love you!" Sabiha smiled and shook her head as she walked to her lecture room to get everything ready. She laughed at her friends' antics, and then she remembered...
"Sabs, I knew you wouldn't forget. Thanks Di, I'll see you at home? Love you too." Nitya took Sabiha's car keys and found her cute vintage Alfa Romeo gleaming in the sunshine. Nitya loved taking Sabiha's car to work, and was currently persuading her to give Nitya the Alfa, and for her to get that Porsche 911 Carrera she'd been frothing over for the past six months. Nitya parked "Mickey" (as they'd affectionately called it) and hummed as she walked to her office, shared with one of the coolest people around, Aisha Bannerjee.
Aisha was the senior executive assistant to the boss, and Nitya was the junior. That didn't mean they didn't work on projects; in fact they worked longer hours than everyone else in the office - they were the ones who gave everything final approvals. It was common knowledge that Aisha was going to get the top job - the boss spent more time playing golf than focusing his attention on meetings.
Nitya personally couldn't wait for Aisha to become boss - Nitya would be given the senior assistant position, and only she knew how to deal with Aisha's mood swings, which ranged from crazy happy to crazy scary when she was stressing about a deadline. Maddy and Aisha are quite similar, Nitya thought. Best not to have them alone together...
"Nitya, you're here. Brilliant. I thought today was your day off? Anyhow, doesn't matter... I need your help. Now, we both know that it's happening soon, and I need to delegate a lot of tasks to everyone, especially you. Now, when I become boss, you're taking charge of the major clients - which you shouldn't be too worried about, and you know them so well... but I'm also putting you in charge of a new client, who could potentially become one of our biggest if things work out. You'll be meeting them tomorrow with me, so Nits, please no t-shirts honey. Wear a dress shirt or something to go with those fabulous dark skinnys of yours. Heels would be nice as well.
"Now, where was I? Ah right, so it's a lunch meeting, and it's a father-son team; I have the file here somewhere. It's just a brief meeting, and then if they like what we're offering - which is guaranteed - it'll be full steam ahead. But we'll deal with that later. Let's clean this office to make it yours-" Nitya almost stopped breathing.
"-because I forgot to tell you... I signed the power of attorney last night! But no one's finding out till Friday. I've got a lot to get out of the way, so let's get started!" As Aisha spoke, she'd poured two flutes of champagne, and toasted to their now former boss - "May God make him a brilliant golf player!"
The girls giggle and got to work; Nitya had great plans for her office, and couldn't wait to re-decorate this place... it was too cluttered for her liking. As she worked, she dropped a file... she picked it up, and found it labelled 'Khandewal'. Hmmm, this must be the new client; I'll look at it after lunch... I can't wait to tell the girls!
- - -
Thank God, I'm here early... it means I get to notice what everyone else wears today. I wonder how many are going to wear last week's off-the-shoulder-with-shorts combo. So blah! Instead of focusing on her lecture, Nikita was more worried that someone was going to copy her look... which really wasn't possible, as Nikita had her own style, but all the same... if only her parents hadn't been so damn conservative and made their daughter pursue a degree in IT management - it was such a tedious job, even if it did pay well, and thankfully her workplace were footing the bill for Nikita to gain her PhD.
But it didn't stop her wishing that she could have pursued a career she wanted; and since childhood, she wanted to be either a fashion designer or a flight attendant. She had managed to study design as an elective during her bachelor's degree... but flying was something she only experienced when she travelling to see her family. If only...
"Nikki! You're here... you're early! Did my second favourite person drag you out of the apartment while you were kicking and screaming?" Rohit Patel was Nikita's fellow PhD student, and close friend. He never lost a chance to tease Nikita about her sleeping habits, and today was no exception.
"Rohit... shut up. So, hows... I forgot her name... was it Sunday? No, I think I'm referring to Wednesday. How's Wednesday?" If Rohit spent his time ribbing Nikita about her sleep, Nikita never let Rohit off about his numerous 'girlfriends'. She knew that they were meaningless, but it gave her good opportunity to shut her friend up.
"You know-" Just then, Professor Shukla walked in. He walked to the front of the class, and noticed that his favourite student was already here. "Wah, Miss Nikita, you made it on time today. Very good, maybe you can assist me today, no?" Nikita gulped wondering what Shukla would make her do today. Damn, this guy won't leave me alone! Ab kya karoon... think Nikita. But it was of no use, today she was a goner, and she noticed Rohit looking away from her, assuming the look of an innocent bystander.
"Jee sir, of course I'll help you. It's just one of my... favourite things to do. Ahem." Nikita wondered if Shukla just liked picking on her. It wouldn't be the first time; something about Nikita seemed to scream 'lazy' to the lecturers.
"Arrey, not right now Nikita. Right now, I have a quick announcement regarding our special guest speaker. As you all may know, Excel College works very closely with the Indian government to make sure that all students get the best quality education. Over the next few days, a number of people will come through Excel to talk to you about any issues you may have, any career choices you might be interested in. In regards to our guest speaker... well, he's not just anyone. I know how many students have met previous officers, and thoroughly enjoyed the talks they've given. This year, a veteran Indian Air Force officer will be coming in, and I expect all of you to attend. He has since retired, and now owns a major corporation along with his uncle. He shall be here in two days, and I have requested that you all take part in this conference. Therefore, today and tomorrow, you all shall be working on mini projects that will be looked at, and assessed by the guest, and other members.
"But more of that later. Let's get back to the task on hand. Today, we'll be discussing ethics in management..." Shukla began lecturing, and the students began sleeping. Nikita, on the other hand, was excitedly writing notes to Rohit.

Oh my God Rohit. OMG. An Indian Air Force officer, here, at Excel! I know, I know, I'm acting all crazy happy here. But an air force officer, do you know how cool it is? Reckon I'd get advice on flying? Stuff Shukla, I'm off to be in the clouds...
Niks! Stop it dude. He was an IAF officer... now he's a hotshot business owner. Calm down, no advice. If you really wanna fly, seek classes you bimbo.
Rohit, stop trampling my dream you freak. If I wanna talk to the IAF officer, I'll talk to him. I wonder how old he is... seems middle aged, I mean, he does own the business with his uncle. Maybe he had to take over the business, and leave his passion.
Ah, passion. And here we go again. Niks, get it through your fashionista brain - not everything is about passion. Look at you and me - we're not doing this because we have a passion for it. We're doing this to a) keep our 'rents happy, and b) bring in the green. Stop dreaming, start listening. And you know Shukla's gonna call on you after class. As usual.

Rohit proved to be right. Shukla asked Nikita to stay behind for a few minutes. "Nikita, I know you have other things going on at the moment, but I was wondering if you could do something for me. It's a big task, but I think with your maturity, and initiative, you're the best person for the job. I need someone to look after the guest we're having. It's going to be hectic, but I'm confident you can handle this..."
"You want me to stay with the IAF officer while he's at Excel? OF course I'll do it sir! I'm stoked... this is so cool. You can count on me sir." And with that Nikita walked briskly out of the lecture theatre with a big grin on her face. Speaking to an IAF officer about flying would be the coolest thing. She couldn't wait to tell the girls and Rohit about the responsibility she was given. One thing was for sure, she wasn't going to stuff this up.

PART 1B

"So anyway, he was telling me that I had to change for the pooja, something about black not being an auspicious colour... like dude, get over yourself. It's the 21st century! I swear my family just don't get me... so what if I'm into black, so what if I'm into rock?" Madhuri sighed listening to Kanchan's bakwaas. The girl was an absolute bore; and who cared if she liked black or not - a pooja was something religious, not something to be taunted about. She wondered again why she was sitting here, when her favourite man arrived... Avinash.
"Kanchan, it's your fault for agreeing to go to the pooja. You should have told them you had a project to complete. Ah look, it's my favourite girl!" He sat down next to Madhuri, and took in her scent and outfit... she sure knew how to impress a guy.
"Hey there Avi, it's about time you came, at least Madhuri will contribute to the convo now, she's been posing as a rock!" Kanchan couldn't stand Madhuri, and it was all because Avinash was with her and not Kanchan. So Kanchan had a personal vendetta against Madhuri, and never failed to taunt her where possible. She watched as her friends laughed, and Madhuri turned a soft red. Kanchan smiled in satisfaction, and sat back, enjoying her day.
Avinash looked at Kanchan, and knew instantly what his friend was up to. He looked at Madhuri, who had looked away, quietly contemplating when it would be acceptable to leave. She looked at her watch, and sighed. As usual, much time hadn't passed, and she knew she'd have to listen to another set of taunts if she left. Damn that Kanchan... always making my life miserable. And it was worse when Avinash wouldn't support her. He'd sit there like a statue, and pretend he didn't know what was going on.
Madhuri decided to just sit back and let them talk; it wasn't as if she was really into what they talked about. In fact, the only reason she sat with them was so she could spend more time with Avinash.
Avinash and Madhuri had met at a protest - Madhuri couldn't even remember what it was about; it was that trivial. Madhuri hadn't gone to the protest because she believed in it; Nitya had dared her to become an active participant in the protest, knowing how much Madhuri destested protests, because she believed they were nothing more than a cry for attention.
So Madhuri had gone to the protest, braving up for the numerous slogans, the yelling, and the marches she'd get forced into. And it was at that moment that she had met him... the suavest and most self-assured guy she'd ever seen in her life. His eyes were intense, as if they noticed and knew everything. Madhuri suddenly possessed the desire to join the protest - hot guys and protests? Bring it on!
From that day on, Avinash and Madhuri had become inseperable - they had nothing in common and argued like crazy, but she loved the feeling he ignited in her... but there was always a nagging feeling in the back of her mind - it had been six months, and she had always suspected he wanted something more...
Madhuri suddenly got up, and walked to the cafeteria; what the hell had she been drifting off towards? It's Avi you idiot, he's the sweetest guy you know, he'd never treat you like that. He adores you, stop worrying about it! She almost went walking back, when a hand clapped on her shoulder... it was Avinash.
"Madhuri, aap teek toh ho na? Aap itne pale kyun lagrahe ho? Babe, kya maine kuch kaha tha?" "Avi? No, no, of course not. I just drifted off with my thoughts, and suddenly got thirsty." "Babe, are you sure? Look, if the rave bothers you that much, you don't have to come. I can go with Kanchan. I just thought it'd be cool if you exprienced a rave..." "Rave? Huh? Wait, you mean the rave on the weekend? You actually plan to go? I thought you were coming to dinner at my place this weekend - the girls wanted to catch up with you." "Babe, I can meet them anytime, come on, come with me. I'll show you a real good time..." "Avi! I am not coming, whatsoever. You're welcome to do whatever... but keep me out of it."
With that Madhuri stomped off. How dare he even THINK I'd even go to something as stupid as that? She passed everyone, refusing to stop and talk. She made her way to the library to collect her thoughts, and was so preoccupied that she didn't even notice bumping into someone holding a massive amount of books...
- - -
That night the girls were bursting with gossip and stories. They all came to Nikita and Sabiha's apartment for dinner; however Sabiha still wasn't home.
"Sabzi is never home this late, it's already seven pm, and she hasn't even left a note saying we need to make dinner. Hell, I'm starving. Niks, why don't you start dinner, and then we can all help until Sabs comes home?" Nitya knew Nikita wasn't fond of cooking, but when it was needed, she was right there to help. But Nikita got saved when Sabiha came rushing through the door, carrying an armful of groceries.
"I am soo sorry girlies... I completely forgot we had no proper food in the house that I could cook, and y'all know I can't eat paneer... so I had to rush to the supermarket. What do you reckon, lamb vindaloo?" Sabiha smiled at looks of relief on her friends' faces. It always warmed her heart when her friends relied on her - it made her feel wanted. The girls got to work assisting Sabiha in the kitchen, and half an hour later, the foursome were sitting around the dining table enjoying their cooking.
"Alright girls, I've got a lot to tell you... and it starts with a little promotion." Nitya smiled in satisfaction looking at her friends' shocked faces. "Yes, I got promoted! Aisha has taken over as the new CEO - we all knew that was coming. And now I've taken over her old position, with possibilities of further promotion down the track. And yeah, I've got a lunch meeting tomorrow with potentially new clients. I was looking at the file just before. I'm sure you've heard of the Khandewals? You remember seeing their designs at that conference Maddy, don't you? Well, they're looking for a new advertising company and event planner - and you know I have experience in both. So Aisha's volunteered me to handle their account."
The girls were amazed, and Nikita quickly grabbed a bottle of champagne to toast Nitya's success. "Here's to the new senior assistant... manager!" The girls clinked their glasses and giggled at the thought of their 'baby' becoming manager.
"Oh, that reminds me. It's not as exciting as Nitya's news, but I think it's awesome nonetheless. There's a conference in two days regarding post-grad careers and all, and there's going to be a former IAF officer, now business empire owner speaking... and I'll be looking after him!" "Wait, so you're going to wash his clothes, cook his dinner, and put him to sleep? That is soo cute Niks!" Madhuri smirked knowing what Nikita meant, but wanting to tease her all the same.
"Ahaa, very funny. I'll be making sure he gets to the conference on time, that he has everything he needs while he's here... sort of like a PA. Sounds really cool, right?" "Nikki, I have one word for you - overenthusiastic. Do you remember what happened when you met my cousin Chandni's boyfriend?" Sabiha grimaced remembering how Nikita, in her overenthusiasm to meet Maan Singh Khurana, almost tripped him over trying to get him a drink.
Nikita blushed at the memory, but resolutely said, "Nothing of the sort will happen Sabs, I'm going to be on my best behaviour." Nitya, Madhuri and Sabiha all exchanged looks knowing only too well what Nikita's best behaviour turned into.

The girls finished dinner, cleaned up the kitchen, and decided to go into their room, as the next day was going to be quite busy for them. Sabiha was just getting into bed, when she heard a knock at the door - it was Madhuri.
"Maddy? Kya hua sweets?" Sabiha was amazed that Madhuri had come to her; normally she was always in Nikita's room, or sitting with Nitya on their balcony. Madhuri sat on Sabiha's bed, tearing up. " Di, I don't know what to do. I can't talk to Nikki because she'll tell me to do what I feel like, and Nitya won't understand my problem... only you'll get me." "Slow down Maddy, what's up? Has Avinash said something to you?" Madhuri gasped at Sabiha's quick analysis of her anguish. Madhuri knew then and there Sabiha would understand.
"Di, it's not what he said, but what he does. Sometimes I just don't understand him. He comes off as being arrogant, and then he surprises me with poems and all sorts of romantic gestures. And then when I think I've finally figured him out, he decides to go to this stupid rave, and wants to drag me along! Sometimes I wonder what he wants from me. I don't know what to do... I told him to keep me out of the rave, and then he taunts me by saying he'll take Kanchan instead. He knows how much I hate her... arghh, I've never felt this way about a guy, but seriously? It's starting to affect me.. I couldn't even concentrate on my Chemistry." Sabiha looked at Madhuri, realising instantly what the problem was.
" You think that by not giving into what Avinash wants, you're ruining the relationship. You've stopped knowing how to communicate with him, and that worries you. But, what you're most afraid of is losing him to Kanchan because you won't give into what he wants. And we both know what that is. Maddy, if you really like him, you'll do everything in your power to work it out. But if you're doubting any aspect of it, you know you need to let it go. I'll say this once - not one of us ever liked him. There's a word for that type of guy: toxic. You know what you need to do... and don't be scared; you've got three sisters who will castrate him for you." Sabiha smiled and enveloped Madhuri into a hug.
"Sometimes the only things you need in life are what's in front of you, and not what you go chasing after," she whispered. Madhuri tightened the hug realising what she would do. She got up, walked to the door, and smiled - she knew her friends would always be there for her, no matter what happened.
Sabiha stood at her doorway, watching Madhuri walk to her apartment. The girl has a lot of demons, and if experience has taught me anything, it's that you'll always need the ones you love around you. I'll never let you stay alone Maddy, never.
She sighed, and got back into bed, and drifted off to sleep, optimistic about the future.

Mine mine mine!! 😆 I'll come read ASAP!

I would like to say one thing. AWWWWWW!!!!! *squeals* That was really sweet. First things, I don't even like the name Avinash so I'm all for leaving him!! 😆 I loved the part with all the girls. That's what i like best about us writing about us four. How we picture our interactions together. Which reminds me, i haven't talked to DD in a while.... 🤔 I'm guessing she's busy in the Sangini forum. I know how much she loves Iqbal. 😊

Anyways, this was a very cute part and I loved it! 😃 I can't wait to see yours and your docs first interaction (who seems to be going to Brazil for some time!!). And of course, mine and Mayank's as well. 😆 I bet I knocked over Mayank and now he thinks i'm some rude brat!! 😆 That should be interesting!! Can't wait for your next update! Love you! *hug*

PART TWO

The next morning was a hectic one. None of the girls had time to eat breakfast, let alone talk. Nikita was the first one out - a massive surprise to the girls, who all knew how much she loved her sleep. Nitya dropped off Madhuri to uni (in Maddy's Chevrolet Malibu) before rushing to work to update herself on the lunch meeting she had.
This left Sabiha at home, trying to start marking essays that had been due the previous week. She knew she had to get these done before working on her thesis - but she couldn't bring herself to open an essay. She sat there thinking back to her lecture the previous day…
"So let's look at the Allies' involvement in World War II…" Sabiha's aim to her lectures was to make sure everyone was engaged in the lecture. She made a point to remember each student's name - which was no easy feat as she had 150 students in her lecture to begin with. Everyone always made sure to read her prescribed texts and notes, because there was no knowing when she would call on someone to answer a question.
The girls, who had all been to at least on of her lectures, all noticed that there was one student who paid her especial attention - Manav Deshmukh. He was a first year student, but it was obvious to everyone except Sabiha that he had a crush on her. Sabiha always dismissed this… snap out of it Sabs! Manav is nothing more than an eager student, stop reading into this!
But Sabiha couldn't shake the feeling out of her head. She sat back and thought about it. Manav Deshmukh - Sabiha logged onto her staff portal, and started skimming through student profiles to find his. She finally found it, and clicked onto it, only to be pleasantly shocked when she realised he was older than her. Well, this definitely puts things into perspective. Why would an older guy be in my class? Surely he'd be at least a 4th or 5th year student?
She scrolled down the file, and found his other subjects - just as she suspected, he was in his last year of uni. Which led to the question: what was he doing in her class? Unfortunately for her, the phone rang. Sabiha looked at the time - it was 3pm. Who calls at this time? She answered the phone, and quickly hung up, grabbed her bag (and a pair of shoes), and rushed out the door.

A couple of hours earlier.
Nitya was at Neil Perry's restaurant, Cosmo, waiting for her clients. So she walked to the bar to get herself a drink - nothing like a glass of wine to relax her mind. As she sat there, she thought about her life… she had a loving family, all very close knit. Her sister and two brothers were all older, so she had always been treated as the baby - a bit like how her best friends treated her.
She sighed, remembering her family's shock at Nitya wanting to live in India - her father had been outraged at the thought of his precious one studying anywhere else except at an Ivy League school. But Nitya had caused further shock when she told them she wasn't studying, but working at an advertising agency, specialising in promotions - ie. alcohol fuelled nights. Her mum had almost fainted, but eventually they'd all relented, knowing that Nitya was stubborn. It wasn't so much that Nitya was eccentric; it was more that once she had made a decision, she refused to change her mind, no matter how bad the outcome became.
Nitya had been so lost in her reverie that she didn't notice the Greek god standing next to her. It wasn't until she turned around and started walking to her table that she noticed him - and the drink he had spilled on her. She looked up in shock, and noticed the most expressive eyes she had ever seen, along with the chiselled face - he sure looked like a Greek god. She almost forgot what had happened until she felt the coldness of drink on her only dress shirt.
"Oh my God, dekh ke chal nahin sakta? I'm a complete mess! And on top of that, red wine? Arghh, what are you, clumsy or just plain stupid?" Whenever Nitya became angry, the amount that came out of her mouth was uncontrollable. But she quickly shut up realising she was in a public place. Without a second glance at the hot, but clumsy guy, she quickly rushed to the ladies' bathroom, surveying the extent of the damage. There was no possible way she could sit at the meeting now - the grey shirt looked horrible. She sighed and took out her substitute shirt: a t-shirt with "Make Love not War" emblazoned. She knew it looked quite casual for an important business meeting, but she couldn't shop now. They were meant to be sitting at the table by now.
Quickly putting on her jacket (which was thankfully untainted), she quietly made her way back to her table, where (thankfully) there was no sign of Mr. Hot and Clumsy.
She calmly sat there and waited for her potential clients, and while doing so, became quite hot in her jacket, and subsequently took it off, completely forgetting about the t-shirt she was wearing.
It was around this time that Nitya's client made their way to the table - Sunil and Akshay Khandelwal; the dynamic father-son team featured on Business Today last month. They were lost in conversation ("And as usual dad, sabzade apne bewakoof doston ke saath hain...") which immediately ceased the minute they laid eyes on Nitya.
Akshay cleared his throat, and quietly asked his dad if they were at the right table. Sunil looked just as confused. By this time, Nitya had stood up realising they had arrived, and plastered a big smile on her face, and extended her hand. Sunil looked at Nitya apprehensively, taking in the casual t-shirt, and echoed his son's question. It was at this point that Nitya had started getting confused, why were they looking at her so weirdly?
She opened her mouth, and then realised what they were looking at - her t-shirt! She silently cursed herself for taking off her jacket, but calmly spoke: "Mr Khandelwal, and Mr. Akshay Khandelwal, hello. I'm Nitya from Gupta-Bannerjee Advertising. Please do sit down." She waited for them to take their seats, and silently called the waiter over. Once taking their order, the waiter disappeared, leaving the Khandelwals' wondering what this little girl in a t-shirt had to offer them.
Nitya smiled knowing they were a bit offended at her casual attire, but she used it to her advantage… "I understand the two of you have been staring at my t-shirt for quite some time… and it's quite natural. Any business person would look at me with disdain - I mean, what self-respecting person would arrive to a meeting in a t-shirt? That would be me, and many of the staff at Gupta-Bannerjee Advertising. We're a dynamic company, and much of our staff are of the 'new generation'; the t-shirt loving, PS3 playing, slacking off generation." (Here Sunil and Akshay exchanged smiles, thinking of their 'sabzade'.)
"We take a different approach to life where we believe our work should speak volumes before introducing ourselves as the t-shirt gen. And here we go; an example of one of our recent projects…" Once Nitya got started, the ideas kept coming, and the Khandelwals were quite impressed with her initiatives.
Once finished the meeting, Sunil smiled and told Nitya that they would love to work with Gupta-Bannerjee Advertising, and more specifically her. Sunil promised to have that contract signed and couriered tonight. Nitya grinned, and politely shook their hands, and stood as they walked out. Nitya watched them leave, and excitedly called Aisha.
"Aisha… Aisha. Expect a file signed tonight… by Sunil Khandelwal! Yes, I scored the deal. They loved the presentation. I'll come back soon… I'm so excited for us Aish. Alright, I'll see you soon." Nitya quickly packed her bag, put her jacket on, and walked towards the entrance, where someone bumped into her… Mr.Hot-and-Clumsy.
He gazed at her, she at him… it was as if time had stopped… he couldn't get enough of her eyes, and those luscious lips… gosh, he wanted to kiss her right there and then… and then he realised she was "Miss Outburst", and let her go.
Nitya didn't even realise she'd fallen until a waiter came up to her and helped her up. She felt a weird pain in her ankle, and realised she'd sprained it. Damn these stupid high heels, and damn that Mr. Clumsy! Knowing she couldn't move, she made a call…

Present time.
"I don't believe it. Why would you wear heels to begin with? And why stilettos? Why not simple low heeled wedges? Don't look at me like that Nitya. And trust you to bump into a guy." "Di! You're blaming me? It was that stupid idiot… pehle drink mere upar giradiya, aur abhi muhjse takraiya. And it's my fault I wore heels? This is so unfair." Nitya slumped back into her seat as Sabiha drove her to the nearest hospital – Sanjeevani.
Sabiha could only laugh at Nitya's story – only she would be lucky enough to be accosted by the same person twice… "Mr. Hot-and-Clumsy". Sabiha chuckled at Nitya's prompt nickname, and pulled into a vacant parking lot just outside Sanjeevani.
"Gosh Nitz, I can't even take the heels off for you… just put your weight on me, alright? I'm sure I can get a wheelchair for you." As Nitya hobbled, and Sabiha supported her, a motorbike zoomed past them, and almost collided with them.
"Uff yeh motorcycles! And damn these drivers for not noticing pedestrians!" Sabiha called out loudly (and angrily) knowing the driver would have heard, as he'd parked startlingly close to her Alfa Romeo.
"Di, save the argument for later. I need to sit down… this is really getting to me now." Sabiha immediately softened, and helped Nitya sit down before explaining her situation to the nurse at reception, who immediately got Nitya a wheelchair, and led them into a check-up room. Sabiha asked the nurse how long the wait would be, and was assured that a doctor would be there in less than ten minutes. Sabiha hoped her good friend, and GP, Shilpa Malhotra would looks after Nitya – she knew of no one better.
Sabiha and Nitya waited and waited… and waited. Sabiha had tried calling Shilpa, but it seemed she was extremely busy. Finally fed up with the waiting, and watching Nitya silently bear the pain, Sabiha went back to reception to enquire if a doctor was available to look over her friend's ankle. The nurse offered her apologies, and accompanied Sabiha back to the check-up room… at which time, a doctor finally appeared.
He stared at her… saw her worry for her friend, saw the relief that a doctor was there, saw the soft smile on her face; he had no idea why, but something about her drew him to her… what the hell was wrong with him?
Sabiha walked up to Nitya, and smiled, trying to show her friend that there was nothing to worry about. And then she finally noticed the doctor… and went into shock. She couldn't believe how gorgeous the guy was… was he really a doctor? He belonged as a pin-up boy for Cosmopolitan magazine, not a doctor in Sanjeevani. She finally stopped staring, and paid attention to what he was saying…
"So anyway gorgeous, there's no need for worry… especially when Armaan Malik's around. So, what's a pretty young thing doing stumbling around in ridiculously high heels? You don't need heels to show the world how absolutely hot you are…" Sabiha raised an eyebrow, was he treating Nitya, or flirting with her?
Nitya opened her mouth in shock, and Sabiha clapped a hand over her mouth - she hadn't meant to voice her thoughts out loud.
Dr. Armaan Malik turned to look at this beautiful (did he just call her beautiful?) person - and couldn't contain his smirk. No girl had ever said anything like that to him ever and got away with it… this was definitely going to be a lot of fun.
"You know, there's nothing wrong with complimenting a gorgeous woman. Or are you feeling insecure that you're not as gorgeous as her?" Armaan smiled inwardly watching the young woman's face turn from embarrassment to anger.
"Insecure? Why would I be insecure that a jock like you is telling my best friend something she already knows?" "Only because no one seems to tell you you're gorgeous." "I'd rather no one said anything to me, than to listen to a jerk like you pay women feeble compliments while he's supposedly treating them." "Oh, so now it's feeble. So you really are jealous." "And once again, Mr. Jock, why would I be jealous of something you said?"
By now the two of them had forgotten that Nitya was in the room watching them argue. She sighed, and was about to say something when Armaan replied, "Only because I'm the one saying it Teacher." "Teacher? Look Mr. Jock, if you're done playing around, maybe you should do some actual work? Like treating patients for once? Or do you revel in standing at the nurses' desk, flirting with anyone that even remotely resembles a female?" "That would be precisely why I'm not flirting with you." Sabiha opened her mouth, seething with anger. How dare he imply that she wasn't feminine!
"If you two are done arguing, maybe we could go now? Thanks so much Dr. Malik, my foot feels a lot more secure now that it's bandaged." Nitya quickly cut Sabiha off before she really insulted the cute doctor. She was quite surprised that Sabiha had started arguing with him - she was generally so quiet around guys, preferring to take the back seat around them.
"Anytime gorgeous, now make sure you come back and see me in about two weeks... gotta make sure your ankle's not getting any worse. And I'm sure you can come see me alone, no need to annoy your Di." Sabiha glared at Armaan's insinuation, but said nothing. She knew Nitya would go mental at her if she said anything more.
Armaan helped Nitya up, and handed her a pair of crutches. She gingerly held them, and tried them out. Sabiha, realising Nitya wasn't wearing any shoes, took out a pair of ballet flats, and made Nitya wear one of them. Armaan looked on, surprised at Sabiha's thoughfulness, and softly smiled. Teacher.
Sabiha walked out slowly after Nitya, and turned to look at Armaan. She saw his smile, and turned back. What a weird guy… what a flirt! But instead of getting angry, she smiled instead. & then realised Nitya was looking at her.
"What? Nitzie, chal. Nikita and Maddy will be wondering what happened. And it's your turn to cook, but I'll do it. What do you feel like eating?" Nitya sighed, and let Sabiha change the conversation. She was sure she had seen something pass between the doctor and her best friend, but let it slide. They walked (and hobbled) out of the hospital, thinking about the day's events. They wondered how their friends' days had gone…
