I woke up on my roof with my brothers
There's a whale in the pool with my mother
And my dad paints the house different colors
Where would we be, if we couldn't dream?
Matthew woke up with a start. His brother, Lee had just thrown a water balloon at him. He got up in a hurry and rushed at Lee, tackling him to the ground. Lee laughed helplessly as Matthew tickled him and then they both yelled in surprise as their brother, James squirted them with a water pistol. Matthew had fallen asleep on the roof and that's where they were now. The three brothers went to the edge of the roof and peered down to see what their parents were up to. Their mother was swimming laps in the pool and there was a huge, inflatable whale in there too. Their dad was painting the house in rainbow colors.

"Let's throw a paint ball at Dad!" James whispered excitedly.
"No way, man, he'll kill us," Matt whispered back.
"I have the perfect solution!" Lee said, his eyes shining. "Let's throw a water balloon at the whale in the pool. It will burst and Mom won't have a clue where it came from!"
"Yeah!" Matt agreed.
"Perfect!" James whooped.
"Shh!!" the other two boys hissed. James subsided and they hurriedly began to fill up balloons with water.
"Dang it, I'm out of water," Matt sighed.
"Take some from the water pistol," Lee suggested.
"Good idea!" Matt said. He filled his balloon up and they took their positions at the edge of the roof.
"Okay, on the count of three," James whispered. "One... two... three... GO!"
The three boys flung their balloons at the whale and then ducked. They quivered with silent laughter as they heard their mother's startled cry from below. These were the sort of moments that they lived for.
You got moves, I've got shoes, let's go dancing
Pop and lock, battle dance against Hanson
If we lose, all the girls, they'll be laughing
Where would we be, if we couldn't dream?
"I'm bored, man," Matt sighed, biting glumly into an apple.
"Me too," James muttered, scraping the bark off of a tree.
"Well, then let's do something," Lee said.
"What?" Matt and James said together.
"Something crazy," Lee said, his eyes glittering.
"I'm listening," Matt said, straightening up.
"Listen James, you've still got those dress shoes you got last winter right?" Lee asked.
"Yes?" James said, wondering where this was leading to.
"And Matthew is a pretty decent dancer," Lee said, a faraway expression in his clear blue eyes. "So we challenge that kid Hanson to a battle dance!"
"No way, dude," Matt said backing away. "If I lose all the girls are going to laugh their heads off at me. I won't be able to show my face in public!"
"Oh well... then we can just do the next best thing," James said shrugging.
"And what's that?" Matt asked.
"Dream," Lee answered for James.
James, Lee and Matt lay back on the ground, staring at the sky and daydreamed about all the things they wanted to do in life. And just like that, the time passed quickly and the day was over.

"Hey can you believe how bad that movie was?" James chortled as they walked out of the movie theater.
"The worst film I've seen in months," Matthew declared, tossing his popcorn basket into the trash.
"Absolutely," Lee agreed, biting into a doughnut.
"I hate to think of all those innocent people who have no idea what kind of rubbish they have to endure for the next hour and a half," James sighed, a wicked gleam in his eyes.
"I know that look," Matt said stopping. "That look means that you have a plan."
"Yeah," Lee said slowly. "You have an idea for a prank."
"Not a prank, brothers," James said putting his arms around them both. "I am merely going to enlighten these people about what a terrible film this is."
"And how are you going to achieve that goal?" Matt asked solemnly.
James simply winked at them both and pulled out a Magic Marker.
"Behold the wonders of this Magic Marker," he said, a grin lighting up his face. "You lot stand guard for me."
"On it," Matt and Lee said, staring off into opposite directions.
James took the marker and wrote something on the Black Attic movie poster. Once he was done, he laughed and told both his brothers to turn around. Matt and Lee sniggered when they saw the text on it.
"The Black Attic will swallow your money, regurgitate it and leave you sitting in the stench of the puke for an hour and a half," it read. "Don't waste your money on this junk."
"Awesome, man!" the boys chortled, slapping high fives.

"Hey guys?" Lee said.
"Hmmm?" the others grunted.
"We're not ever going to change the relationship we have between us are we? Like ever?" Lee asked seriously.
"Of course not," Matt said looking shocked. "I can't imagine not hanging out with you two all the time like we do now."
"Same here," James added. "All for one and one for all... just like the three musketeeters."
"Musketeers," Matt corrected.
"Whatever," James said.

"I can't believe you boys played a prank on the janitor again," the principal said. "You know what people are going to start saying about you? They're going to call you freaks who have no sense of responsibility at all."
"Excuse me...miss?" James said politely.
"What is it, James," the principal sighed, leaning back in her chair.
"With all due respect, miss," James started. "We don't care what other people say about us."
"Yeah," Matthew put in. "I know we get a little crazy sometimes."
"And a little loud too," Lee added.
"But miss, you have to understand that we're not going to fake it," James said. "We're wild, yes, but we're also free. We can't pretend to be something that we're not."
"No way," Lee agreed.
"That's just the way we roll," Matt shrugged. "We have good grades, we've never caused harm to anyone.... all we do is play harmless practical jokes...we never make fun of anyone either."
"It's all good clean fun," James added.
"So, miss please let us off the hook," Lee said. "We didn't mean any harm and if you insist we won't play any more jokes on the janitor."
The principal stared at the three earnest boys in front of her. She smiled at their open honesty and their inability to mince words.
"All right," she said. "I am going to let you off the hook this time. But please remember that playing jokes in school is frowned upon. It distracts the other students."
"We understand miss," James said quickly.
"Well then,' the principal said. "Off to class."
"Yeah! We got off!" Lee cheered as they started to leave the office.
"I know!" Matt said.
"As long as we stick together, we're invincible," James added, grinning widely.
"All for one and one for all, remember?" Matt said.
"Absolutely," Lee said and the three brothers made their way down the stairs and onto the playground to find someone else to pull a prank on.
