Achint Kaur's amused that in recent times the focus has been on her lipstick shade in Viruddh!
Some have called it loud and garish. But Achint says, "There have also been women who've come up to me and asked me for the shade number because they liked my look in the show. In fact, initially when the serial started there were reports in the media that it was a fashion statement. Actually these things don't really matter because it's very subjective. Some like loud makeup, some prefer subtle.
For instance, somebody may like loud eye makeup, while I find that sluttish, rather C-grade. It's all a matter of individual opinion," says Achint, who planned her look for her Viruddh character Vedika.
"This is a woman who's very bold, speaks her mind and is fashion conscious. Dark shades are not something regular people wear but we felt it will go well for somebody like Vedika who is very
daring. There's no other colour on my face in this show except the lipstick," she says.
Achint started off playing a positive character in the show, but somewhere down the line, things changed. Vedika is now negative, plotting and planning against the lead protagonist in the show. "On television things change all the time. It's knee jerk reactions. The channel felt my character should turn negative," she says,
admitting that initially it did pinch her, but she took it her stride. "Fortunately, there's always a justification for Vedika's actions," she adds.
Achint, who's known to speak her mind, minces no words when she says, "TV is pathetically boring. But that's how it is. Such is life," she sighs. But there is hope, she says revealing a rather uncanny incident that took place recently. "Somebody came up to me and said I look disgruntled with the television scenario, but it's all going to change in two years! The person was a face reader. Let's see if that happens," she laughs.
