Love me do
Marriages are made in heaven. But there are some unions that don't need heavenly intervention.
"Don't love me for fun girl, let me be the one girl. Love me for a reason. Let the reason be love" -- Boyzone.
Most old memories fade but the one's associated with love linger on throughout life. For it's not everyday that you fall in love. When it happens, it charms you with its spell.
Romance blooms from the bud of friendship and many a times, it ends in wedlock. That's what happened with television actors Manav Gohil and Sweta Kwatra. "We became friends, then became a 'habit' with each other and finally after dating for three and a half years, I decided to pop the question." Ask him what made his heart tick and pat comes the reply, "The best thing about Shweta is that she keeps her integrity intact and when she does something she does not make it obvious."
For photographer Subi Samuel who married his longtime friend, things were easier. He says, "I was in London having dinner with Bina and her friends. After some time I got down on my knees, took out a rose hidden under the table and proposed. She was blushing with joy and acquiesced." Now that's romantic Subi!
With actor Rajiv Paul it was his wife who took the initiative. In a jovial mood he says, "Delnaz asked me first. I know this sounds weird. She knew I would take years to express my feelings. We were sitting in a cinema hall, watching a horror film when she just blurted it out. The words were hers but the feelings were mine."
So was the case with singer Babul Supriyo. He met his wife in Toronto when he had gone to perform at a show. He says, "After the show a girl came to me asking if I could help her get Shah Rukh Khan's autograph. I helped. She thanked me and asked if she could take me around the town." This very show laid the foundation for a life long union.
After ISD's for 10 months, they finally tied the knot. Supriyo says, "I asked her to ask her parents if they were fine with the idea. After initial problems, they finally agreed."
But not every one finds it as easy. Like actor Rahul Roy says, "I handled things in the worst way possible. I was drunk when I followed Rajlaxmi to an event. I caught her unaware, went down on my knees and said -- 'I know I have a bad reputation with girls but I want you to give me one chance.' Obviously she ran away. I tried calling her up but she just did not take my calls. Finally when she did, the only thing she asked me, was to quit drinking. After seven months she consented to get married."
Some things are destined to happen it seems!
