Question to Moderators

Hi Moderators,
I just wanted to test whether the forum portal does any sort of Identity Management based on IP addresses. What i find is that one can create multiple user logins from the same IP.

Although I see a small statement saying IP logged I am not sure there is a IM module which actually checks this or allows moderators to have a look. A lot of portals allow moderators access to the web server's access logs.

As moderators are you allowed to access the server access logs or check the user IP? I suspect (and i may be wrong)that a lot of people may have created duplicate ids to enforce and re-enforce their point of view 😆 😆 😆.


There is a thin line between effective moderation and intrusion into privacy. I hope you as moderators devise some mechanism to detect (in case the framework allows) duplicate ids.

There are certain things which r kept private among the dev team people..but yes we can very well check who is an MID and who is not based on same IP address..and if a member creates more than one ID from the same IP address..we automatically get to see the number of IDs created from a particular IP..and then either those IDs r banned or we take further strict action for it..And this power is given to the mods for the benefit of other members only..or else this IF server will go haywire if everyone starts creating 100 MIDs from one IP address😆..noone will then able to access this IF or post these comments..there r many technical issues involved here which we r not suppose to discuss in open..So next time if u hv any queries regarding moderation..there is always the PM option available right ??😳...these r suppose to b dicussed through PM and not openly on public forum..And in case u want to know how many IDs u possess..u can PM me regarding that as well..
