AN: I had nearly left the forum. I don't know what happened. But enjoy!

Chapter 1

Her hands trembled and before she could beg her legs to turn away, her fingers reached to the cold metal and pressed it.

The chime of the doorbell echoed. And with it a hand seemed to snake around her lungs, squeezing the air out of them. It was time!

She stood there still and frozen, almost waiting for something dramatic to happen. Fire to turn her to ash or even frozen ice to stab into her. Nothing happened.

She waited.

Time seemed to move even more slowly. But Tejo had always been one of immense patience.

Her hands fisted, trying to root herself in front of the doors. There was no other option. She had to face him. Had to meet him.

But as minutes passed, her strength seeped back into her. Maybe he was not there. Maybe, she had gotten the address wrong. After all, no one had seen or even met him after he had left Moga three years ago. She was definitely at the wrong address.

She took in a deep breath and her body relaxed. Shaking her head, she grasped the strap of her sling bag and turned around when the sound of the door being unbolted stopped her. Embarrassment seeped into her. She had probably disturbed someone from their work. Without an option, she turned to face an old man staring at her curiously.

“I am sorry, Kaka,” Tejo smiled awkwardly, “I got the wrong address.”

The old man pursed his lips and then his eyes fixated on her feet. Her eyes followed his and she shuffled her feet, as she realized that he had seen her muddy pants.

“You can wash up here if you want,” the old man offered to her and when he looked back at her, there was none of the coolness she had seen before.

“N-No,” Tejo stammered out. “I don’t want to trouble you.”

“There is a tap in the backside of the house. Go through the right side. It is no trouble.” Saying so he shut the door at her face.

Tejo blinked in shock. For a moment she stood there in confusion and then sighed. It seemed that her bizarre luck of finding herself in weird circumstances seemed to follow her even there. Well, that was her life, wasn’t it?

Since it was offered, it was better to take the help, she decided and slowly went towards the right side of the large house. It was a beautiful White building with a jutted-out porch on the side. There were well-maintained lawns on both sides and through it, she found her way to the back. The back of the house was even more interesting. Unlike the well-shaped lawn in the front, it was as if the backside had been let to grow wild. Some portions of the grass and weeds were misshapenly hacked off, while the rest were allowed to grow wild. It was almost a disjointed type of backyard. A large banyan stood towards the left corner and she spied some wooden logs stacked near it.

Her eyes drifted around and finally, it fell on a tap that had a pipe tied to it. Relief spread in her. She could easily go to it, wash her feet and leave. She rushed towards it, taking care not to stumble on the brambles and finally opened the tap, allowing the cool gush of water to hit her feet.

A sigh left her. She had been on her feet for so long and the water was a relief to her sore feet. She dropped her bag to the side and inched closer. Dripping her hands into the cool water she gently splashed it on her face. Instantly her muscles relaxed and a moan left her mouth. This was heaven. The atrocious heat of the day had blazed through her energy and the cool water was the rejuvenation. She took some water and gently patted the nape of her neck that had grown clammy with sweat.

It was at that time that a thudding sound met her ears.

THUD!

THUD!

THUD!

She whirled around and her eyes followed the sound. Next to the banyan tree was a man chopping the wooden logs with an axe. With a mind of their own, her feet carried her towards him, a certain curiosity rising in her.

She stepped closer and closer. The hit of the axe grew louder and soon her eyes slowly began to register the details. His head was bowed as he struck another blow to the weakening wood. Inky black hair was cropped short and a pair of loose jeans slung around his hips. Her eyes drifted up to his torso and something that had not happened in ages happened to Tejo.

She blushed.

Heat rushed to her cheeks and she dropped her gaze but nothing could dismiss the image from her mind. His ridiculously broad shoulders flexed as he chopped with the axe. The thickly muscled arms rippled as he brought blow upon blow down with his axe. Muscles strained in his back, hinting at the power and strength of his form, oozing a certain sense of sensuality and darkness that should have made her wary.

But fate and bonds are curious things. When at times one would have never walked that path, a certain pull makes sure that they would ultimately be guided there. And that was what it was.

Her breath hitched and she unknowingly stepped on a branch.

The man froze for a second and then stiffened. Tejo flushed.

“I –” she began but he threw the axe next to the pile of wood. With a certain grace, he stepped across the pile and went towards the other side of the tree without a word to her. With his back to her, he cleanly stepped across the distance and crouched near the pipe to wash his hands and feet.

Tejo remained there feeling small and awkward with the feeling of being greatly unwelcome weighing on her. But decorum calls for it and since she had stepped there, she had to at least make herself clear. She had been there only to wash up and not to invade his privacy.

Decided, she turned back to him and walked near the gushing water. When she was absolutely near that he would not miss any word she said, she cleared her throat.

“Hello!” she whispered and swallowed. The man showed no sign of listening to her. “I just came to use the water. Nothing more. I am sorry if I disturbed you.”

He continued washing and Tejo slowly grew irritated.

“Excuse me,” she stepped forth and it was then that everything shifted in the blink of an eye.

The continued pouring of water had made the muddy ground slippery. Without warning her sandal slipped as she stepped forth and a shout left her mouth. Her hands flailed and she fell down on the ground hard, the mud sticking on her face and hands. A stinging throb announced the fact that she had hit her shoulder hard on the stone.

She lay there in shock for some time and slowly turned around, blindly reaching for the water to clear the mud from her eyes.

“P-Please,” her mouth shaped the word and there was silence for some time. The next second water splashed at her and before she could protest, the silent man had turned the jet of water onto her. It sprayed at her, wiping at her dirt but also stinging sharply as it hit her like pointed cold knives piercing her skin. The water filled her mouth and nose and she could barely open her eyes.

“He-y” she coughed out loud as water sprayed into her mouth and the next second the pipe was turned onto her body. She could feel the cold water seeping into her dress, and snaking around her flesh. It dripped down her neck to her chest and she could feel it travelling down her legs.

She was all wet as she lay there on the ground, barely able to fight off the sudden spray of water at her.

The spray stopped and she heaved, coughing loudly.

What had just happened?

A large hand gripped her waist and tugged her up, towards him. His hand felt hot on her wet skin and his large palm covered the entire span of her waist. Her body went forward limply and her head rested on his chest.

Confusion filled in her and her heart thundered. Slowly she raised her head to look at the man that held her; a man who had both helped and hurt her. She looked up at him and her eyes watered as the sun shone brightly behind him. His features were shrouded in darkness; she could not even manage to look at him.

“What! Who –”

He laid a finger on her lips and she froze at the gesture. Something about it raised the flags in her mind. For it was incredibly familiar.

Her eyes widened.

“I heard you were looking for me Shadayein!”

OMFG!!

Niki you won't believe, just a few days ago I was remembering you and your stories... i's just wishing that you'd write something with fatejo. You do them proper justice...

So, in the first part Fateh was left broken. And Tejo certainly shared a part in the deceit.

What brought her to him after so many years? Where is he? How is he? So many questions.

To this chapter, I almost fainted when you described the two. Oh God it's HOT!! And the way you write, one can picture the story vividly. Even the house, lawns, and then the wild backyard seems like a metaphor for Fateh.

Now niki, Please I'm begging you...take your time...It's a SS. so you have the entire story in your mind. Do write whenever you get time. Do not leave us hanging like this. And if you are planning to, then please just gimme the summary as to what happened, happens and will happen in the story. I won't be able to sleep otherwise....you've got me hooked.

There's just something so mindblowingly colourful about this scene. Everything from how Tejo went to the back and how the scene flowed, so perfectly orchestrated. I can imagine it so well but I can also feel it, like the sun in her eyes, the tiredness in her feet... I'm just awed.

Please, do continue when you can. This story has so much potential and it's gotten me so excited, so curious for the next part. Waiting with bated breath.

Thanks for sharing. ❤️
