2010's Best And Worst Men's Magazine Cover Subjects

On Monday FishbowlNY reported that Lady Gaga was 2010's leading cover girl for monthly and biweekly magazines. Although Gaga was everywhere last year, there were some other celebs that held their own while gracing the covers of men's magazines. Top male titles GQ, Details, Esquire, Men's Journal, and Men's Health featured a smorgasbord of A-listers that went either boom or bust at newsstands in 2010. Here's the scorecard (all results are courtesy of the Audit Bureau of Circulations Rapid Report):

GQ's top-selling cover went to Rihanna who posed topless for the January issue. Funnymen Tracy Morgan, Paul Rudd, and Zach Galifianakis each had a separate GQ cover in August and sold the second most copies for the year. Apparently GQTaylor Lautner's July issue was the lowest seller of 2010. Readers are firmly on board with Team Edward because Twilight leading man Robert Pattinson was plastered on the cover of Details 10thMad Men's ... the year's bestseller. Reviews for GQ cover was also Positive not by the fans only but professional photographer.

Quote: "Great recap of the best and worst. Reason behind Taylor is that Taylor appeals to a younger audience so I am sure he has sold plenty of Tiger Beat Magazines with him on the cover but Robert appeals to a broader audience. Its not about Twilight, its simply Sex-appeal which is naturally given. Taylor is your typical, buff, chocolate boy who can easily pass as another Zac Efron He doesn't have sex appeal, he has an adorable, Teen look. Robert is mysterious, a musician, humble, and has a side of him that makes you want more. He exudes sex appeal like Johnny Depp and George Clooney do. It is no surprise that he can sell more magazines, which is also why he is on so many different covers."- Trish, Rolling stone Magazine

Jon Hamm was not as fortunate as his October cover was Details least successful issue through November. anniversary issue in March – the year's bestseller.

Gossip Girl star Blake Lively did not fare well as an Esquire cover girl — her February issue was the title's worst seller for the year. Javier Bardem also floundered at newsstands as his October cover sold the least copies of any Esquire that featured a man on the cover. Box office golden boys Leonardo DiCaprio and James Franco ranked first and second respectively in Esquire's bestsellers for 2010.

2010 was a year to forget for Mel Gibson in just about every way possible. Mad Mel appeared on the cover of Men's Journal's February edition – the year's biggest flop for the magazine. Robert Downey Jr. rode the momentum of Iron Man 2 to headline 2010's most successful Men's Journal issue back in May.

Relative unknown model/actor Sean Faris graced the cover of the year's highest selling Men's Health issue (there must be a ton of health conscious Never Back Down fans). The low seller for Men's Health was Ryan Kwanten.
