Taming the Shrew Take 18: Success is More Complex Than Failure

Confused by the title? Well it is supposed to indicate the complexity of VeePaa's success plan.

I have no clue what the CVs are intending. Perhaps there is a surprise planned for Girish-Rhea when they show up at the marriage registrar's office.

Either one of Rhea's parents is resurrected from the dead 😲, or, Lavanya šŸ’” falls on her knees and begs Girish to take her back.

Well whatever the plan is - it appears Veer is totally dejected and views himself to be a complete failure as a father.

Really!! What did Veer expect? He tells Rhea she is a kid and unable to understand.

What is Rhea's answer? 'I am an adult. I know what I am about and fully capable of making up my mind.'

Rhea's answer is that of a typical teen - she is demanding recognition for who she is. Rhea is fighting to change the dynamics of her relationship with Veer, the parent. She wants Veer to know that she is not the child that he thinks he knows. She wants to shake him into an awareness of the new, independent, exciting person she has become (or wants to be). She also wants to shake him into an awareness that she is troubled that her mother loved him over her dad (note how she fiercely defends her mom). She also wants to goad him into being angry and violent - like how her dad was with her mom. If Veer behaves like her dad then at some unconscious level she would be able to justify her dad's behavior and alcohol abuse.

If Veer had a quiet conversation with her (like Pakhi does), as opposed to quarrels, then Rhea would not be able to do all that drama. She tries the same tactics with Pakhi (example in Girish's house when she told Pakhi to stop making her feel guilty that she was breaking a marriage) but fails because Pakhi handles her differently. Pakhi quietly listens to Rhea and only speaks when she can make a point calmly. But Veer no matter what he does or says - precipitates the worst in Rhea. Rhea incites Veer with "a rawness of feeling, where he ends up saying more than he otherwise would".

Well, it looks like VeePaa-Girish's original plan has gone haywire - so now Pakhi and Girish have gone to plan B. I have no inkling what this plan is or whether it will result in success. Now you see why 'Success is more complex than failure'?

Such an insightful post. It is indeed a complex plan.
Unfortunaltely it is the hard road some parents need to walk when they have troubled teens, especially one like Riya.
Todays epidose was an emotional one as every one is fighting their own turmoil.
Lavanya is realizing that she is loosing her marriage and her kids.
Ria is realizing that she is becoming the person she hated. Ohh but she is fighting it tooth and nail by delbrately wearing blinders on saying Lavanya never loved Girish like her mother loved her father.
The three mature adults here are obviously trying very hard to get this girl on the right path.
Like you i am curious to see where the CV's are taking us
Veer is obviously at his wits end not sure where to turn. He did the best he knew to do , which is not good enough. Her hatred of him seems to outweigh the love and care he tried to provide for her. Now he is seeing himself as a failure. Only not only to her but to Pakkhi and AAyan as well.
The only one with any semblance to hold them together is Paakhi who is doing her duty as a wife and mother and giving her quite strength and encouragement where needed. Evnen though she is also facing the very real possibility of loosing her son... But that is the Pakkhi we know and love .. the selfless woman who gives of herself whole hardheartedly with no malice.
What will happen tomorrow we shall see. Will Ria fianlly see the light ? Will Lavanya kill her ego for the sake of her marriage? Will Anuja... she seems like a lost case in the whole pack!!!
And AAyan when he finds out the truth what will happen to this poor boy, who is finally getting over a major loss in his own life. ???

Vinnie that is one power-packed post. You have detailed the turmoil in each of the key players very nicely.

I agree Pakhi is one holding all together - perhaps her faith in God and in the fact that goodness will prevail is helping her be a source of strength.

It just struck me - it is possible that Rhea appointment with Girish at the marriage registrar's office may be conflicting time wise with her need to testify in Ayaan's custody case.
OR

In some way these two are connected.

Whereby doubt is cast on her judgement of issues and thereby weakening her statements about Veer.

I know this is a long shot but I thought I might as well mention it.
