Newcomer Pallavi Subhash was intimidated by the mere presence of Iqbal Khan, while shooting the first few episodes of Star Plus's new soap Karam Apnaa Apnaa in Kolkata. The debutante who has garnered great feedback for her simple yet elegant look in the serial had a tough time facing the camera.
The unit members of the show say: "She is a good actor and is very quick with her dialogues." But on the day when Pallavi met her on-screen love interest Shiv, played by Iqbal Khan, she started fumbling with her lines. Everyone on the sets thought Pallavi was unwell but she confessed losing her focus completely. "Actually, she was very nervous to act before Iqbal. It was the third episode and Iqbal was present on the sets. They didn't have any scene together before this. It was just his presence that made her a little conscious," says a unit member.
Apparently, Pallavi's dilemma did not end there. It took eight retakes before her shot was okayed. "But the director understood her plight and was very patient." We spoke to Iqbal Khan who is all praise for Pallavi. "She is a good looking girl. And from what I saw of her in front of the camera, she is a decent actor as well," says Khan.
The hunk also said that he tried to make her feel comfortable during the shooting. "Everyone is a newcomer at some point of time. I had no scenes with her during the Kolkata outdoor. Yes, I was around when she was giving her shot. I don't know if she was intimidated by me," he says. After playing a good Samaritan and a rock star in Kavyanjali and Kaisa Yeh Pyaar Hai respectively, this time Iqbal is playing an affluent brat in Karam Apnaa Apnaa.
"Shiv is a man of few words. He is arrogant and extremely reserved." Probably it was his character that unnerved his co-star. Being a workaholic Iqbal says that he isn't the kind who likes to throw his weight around. "I'm a simple guy yaar," he laughs. "Its because of my height and my voice that people get intimidated. But things will be easy after some time. Pallavi Subhash was unavailable for her comments.
