Prologue

A girl was running on an abandoned lightless street. The girl was wearing burkha and was holding some papers in her hand. Some goons were running behind her trying to chase her shouting and threatening her about the whereabouts of what will happen if they managed to catch her. The girl was running for some time now she turned to another street and she couldn't believe her luck a taxi was standing there. Without thinking twice she opened the taxi and shouted for the driver to drive quickly while sitting. After a while when she was sure that she has managed to escape the eyes of those goons she closed her eyes to take a breath but maybe it was the tiredness of day which made her sleep in seconds. She opened her eyes and saw she was already at the door of her house. The driver was honking to wake her up. When she came out of the cab she just marched forward towards her house.It was already past midnight she was opening her locked house when she realised she didn't paid the driver. She turned back only to find nothing over the place where cab was there a few minutes ago. She was too tired to think about all this so she just opened her house and get inside.

In a dark place a girl was tied to the chair. She wanted to cry for help but couldn't as even her mouth was shut forcefully by some rag.

Chapter 1

{Someone's watching}

The courtroom was filled with people who were in favour of the case and some who were against. The court was bustling and people were whispering as the lawyer in favour was not present in the court. The judge and jury were losing patience. When judge ordered if the lawyer doesn't arrive in 10 minutes the court will be adjourned in favour of opposition. After waiting for 10 minutes when the judge was about to close the case when the lawyer arrived.

“I am extremely sorry for my absence my lord” the lawyer was bleeding and had a big cut on the forehead

“Ye aap ke sir pe choot kaisi hai?” The judge inquired seeing the blood and bruises on the lawyer body

“Mafi chahungi my lord iss tarah court me aane ke liye...but my lord ye hai wo evidence jo mere client pe lage sare ilzam galat sabit kar dega” the lawyer said submitting the evidence to the court and the judge was seeing it again and again. The evidence which was submitted proved the truth and the verdict was in favour of the lawyer. The client thanked the lawyer and went ahead just then the lawyer in opposition came forward to congratulate.

“Congratulations...Ms. Kalyani Deshmukh...mujhe Laga tha this time I could defeat you...but alas!” Lawyer said and forwarded his hand to congratulate her. Kalyani grasped his hands in reply and said “better luck next time Mr. Ram Pandey” and left from there picking her things leaving Mr. Pandey bitter mouth.

Kalyani drove back to her work place where her P.A. Ms. Shalini Mishra was waiting for her with black coffee. When Kalyani entered Shalini was left in shock seeing her bleeding.

“Kalyani... what happened??? Why are you bleeding so much... and with this much of bleeding you should be in hospital” Shalini said and helped her sit on the sofa

“Shalini...relax...chooti si choot hai... can I have some water?” Kalyani said resting her head on the sofa with the help of cushion. Shalini knew kalyani's stubbornness and came back with a medical kit and a glass of water.

“Here... your water” Shalini said extending her water and then started cleaning the wound.

“Speak...what happened this time” Shalini asked

“To be honest I fainted while climbing the stairs in my house and when I woke up I was late for court. So I just ran there” kalyani said ensuring Shalini that everything was alright. It was already 6 in the noon kalyani dozed off while Shalini was out to receive a phone call when kalyani's phone rang breaking her chain of thoughts.

She saw the caller ID it was Ms. Neha who takes care of moksh. She picked the phone.

“Hello! Neha what happened” kalyani asked hearing Neha crying

“Mam...moksh...moksh”

“Kya hua moksh Ko ... Ms. Neha please calm down and tell me what happened” kalyani asked

“Mam I left him and went to the washroom just for 5 minutes but when I returned he was nowhere” Neha said trying to explain

“Did you searched the whole house?”

“Yes mam...I think I left the main door open...he must have left house”

“What? How can you be this irresponsible.. aap Abhi ke abhi bahar jaye aur use dhundhe agar moksh Ko kuch ho gaya to mai nai janti Mai aapke saath kya kar baithongi” kalyani said and called Shalini to take out the car. She was sitting in the car on her way to home stone faced when she got a call

“Hey janeman kya kar Rahi ho...I am reaching at your place”

“Dev...moksh...moksh” her eyes were telling the story of her heart. The tears which were stuck inside her heart were out now listening to someone whom she can trust at this stage of her life

“Relax...relax kalyani...kya baat hai mujhe batao” Dev said

“Moksh Kahi kho Gaya hai dev...mil nai Raha...tum ghar ke paas ho na wo wohi Kahi hoga... please usse dhoondh do Dev...wo bahut dar Gaya hoga...akela hoga” kalyani said wiping her tears.

It took her 45 minutes to reach home and all this his heart was scorching thinking what if something happens to moksh. She got out of the car and rang the doorbell but nobody opened. She ran towards the street assuming that moksh was still not found. She must have ran for 10 seconds when she saw his moksh running towards her. She hugged moksh to ensure everything was fine. She was caressing his face kissing his face and asking him if he was alright

“Offoh... kalyani itna Kyun ro Rahi ho...mai to yahi tha aur ice-cream kha Raha tha jo un uncle ne mujhe di thi” moksh said wiping kalyani tears

“Kaun si ice-cream? Dev yaha meri Jaan Jaa rahi thi aur tum mujhe phone karne ki wajah isse ice-cream khila rahe the” kalyani shouted at Dev and again hugged moksh

“Nai kalyani maine koi ice-cream nahi khilai hai isse...ye jab mujhe Mila iske paas koi ice-cream bhi nai thi aur Mai bas tumhe phone mila raha tha...pr tum utha hi nai Rahi thi” Dev said explaining his situation

“Kuch bhi…” kalyani searched her pocket and realised she had left her phone in car only “oh shit! Sorry Dev I think Mai phone car me hi bhul aai hu”

“Koi baat nahi kalyani...moksh mil Gaya na...ab to haas do!” Dev said “accha batao aaj dinner me kya hai”

“Aaj nai Dev Mai moksh ke saath rehna chahti hun...tum kal aana” kalyani said and left towards her home leaving Dev alone. Both of them reached home and kalyani changed moksh clothes and both of them sat on the dining table for dinner.

“Accha moksh tumne mujhe bataya nai tumhe ice-cream kisne di thi?” Kalyani asked

“Wo tumhe pata hai kalyani mai to meow ka piccha kar raha tha pr jab meow chali gai...to mujhe ghar ka raasta hi nai mil raha tha...mai bahut dar gaya tha… mujhe tumhari bahut yaad aa rahi thi...aur mai rone Laga...tabhi ek uncle aaye unhone kaha wo tumhare dost hai ar mujhe jante hai aur tumne unhe bheja hai unhone ne hi mujhe meri favourite wali ice-cream dilai thi aur mera haath pakd ke ghar tak lane wale the…” moksh said trying to remember every detail

“Phir...phir kya hua moksh”

“Phir maine dekha Dev bhaiya thode hi dur se mujhe Pukar rahe the...maine un uncle Ko bataya ki wo Dev bhaiya hai pr jaise hi maine Dev bhaiya Ko awaz lagai wo uncle Gayab ho Gaye waha se” moksh said eating his favourite white sauce pasta... which kalyani has prepared for him.

“Accha moksh tumne dekha wo uncle kaise dikh rahe the” kalyani asked

“Wo unhone ek black colour ki cap pehni thi...ar unhe bahut khasi bhi ho rahi thi isiliye unhone mask bhi pehna tha” moksh said “accha Kalyani maine poora kha Liya...ab Mai sone jau” moksh said

“Moksh ruko pehle brush karna mat bhulna...warna tumhe pata hai na kya hoga”

“Ha kalyani...Mai koi baccha thode hi hu...poore 6 years ka Hun!!! Tum mujhe buddhu samajhti ho kya” moksh said

“Accha bacchu...ruko tum abhi batati hun...bahut badi badi baatein banane lage ho tum” kalyani said and ran to catch moksh and both of them were running in house like tom and jerry. After a while moksh got tired and got sleepy.

It was past 12 Kalyani was resting in her bed when her phone rang.

"Kalyani tumhe yaad hai na from tomorrow I will be off for 3 months" Shalini said

"Hmmm...mujhe yaad hai...ar tumhare replacement ka kya hua?" Kalyani asked

"Wo maine 2 candidates final kiye hai...kal unse mil ke ek final kar lena" Shalini said

"Are yaar akele kaise karungi mai? Please kal aa jana… tu meri assistant se pehle best friend hai na" kalyani said trying to please Shalini

"Chup kar nautanki...Mai kal sab kuch final karne ke Baad hi train pakdungi" Shalini said assuring kalyani

Kalyani was turning and tossing on her bed calculating things which were happening these days with her. It all started 10 days in the past when she heard a knock.

"Who could be at this hour?" Kalyani was questioning herself seeing the clock which stuck past 12 o'clock. She opened the door hurriedly waking up from bed.

"Hey Anu di...aap yaha itni late kya hua?" Kalyani questioned Anupriya who was standing at the gate.

"Oh sorry! Kalyani itni raat Ko disturb Kia maine tumhe... actually I tried to call you earlier today to inform you about my arrival but you didn't picked up." Anupriya said and helped herself in.

"Wo actually mai case me busy thi...ar ghar aane ke Baad I slept like zombies" kalyani said laughing while grabbing some cold water from kitchen. The sisters laughed and talked for some time...then Anupriya told kalyani that she needs to leave for Singapore for a meeting and will be back within 5 days. It would have been great if things would have gone according to plan. But at the day when Anupriya was supposed to be back. She received a phone call which gave her shock for a lifetime. The plane which was supposed to land Anupriya back was in a crash. She would have cope up from this also but things weren't shaping up any good. She was feeling something was not right. She was being watched.

Today when she was walking down stairs she fainted and next moment when she wakes up she was in her bed. Is it even possible how could she end up in bed when nobody should have known about her fainting. Even yesterday when she was exposed escaping from the scene after collecting evidence from a silent building she could have been dead if she wouldn't have ran to narrow street and found a taxi. She hurriedly sat inside the taxi and felt a sense of relief but now when she was thinking about this all it doesn't make sense for taxi to be there at that point of time. It felt as if the taxi was there just for her!!! There were many more questions that were bugging her but the weakness of her body didn't let her up for more than 30 minutes.

Kalyani woke up late because of the tiredness of yesterday's events. She reached her office at 11 o'clock. She was sitting in her cabin when Shalini informed her about shortlisted candidates. There were 2 candidates from which she was supposed to pick one in place of Shalini. She was going through the portfolios of both the candidates when someone knocked on the door.

"Kalyani...the two candidates are ready for interview" shalini said

"Okay. Call them in."

Kalyani was waiting for the candidates when her phone vibrated. She was about to check the message when both the candidates entered.

"Hello mam. I am Samrat Malhotra" one of the candidates spoke and kalyani gestured them to settle down

"So Samrat what will you do if a child cries?" kalyani said

"What...what kind of question is this" Samrat raised his voice

"What did you didn't get in my simple question. Leave it. How about you" kalyani asked the other guy

"Well it depends on the age of baby if it's a toddler I will change his/her napkins and feed them milk. If he can speak then there will be no problem" candidate said twitching his round glasses

"Well I was not told that I was called here to do babysitting." Samrat said

"Well there's gate...you can leave right now" kalyani said

Samrat picked up his profile and left the stage

"Well what's your name" kalyani asked the other guy

"It's Malhar... Malhar Rane" the guy said twitching his glasses.

Chapter 2

{New friends...}

"Well what's your name" kalyani asked the other guy

"It's Malhar... Malhar Rane" the guy said twitching his glasses.

"Actually I know it sounds odd of me to ask about how to take care of a child...but something happened with the babysitter who was supposed to take care of my child so in a rush I would like if you could help me with this situation" kalyani said trying to explain herself " by the way aapki degrees se Mai satisfied hun to aap ye mat sochiye ki ye naukri aapko aise hi mil Rahi hai aapko ar salary bhi utni hi milegi jiske aap hakdar hai" kalyani said while rounding the paper weight kept on the table. kalyani could tell just by looking at his dressing sense and low confidence...that he was in desperate need of the job.

"Kalyani ji aapka bahut bahut shukriya...aap nai janti ye naukri mujh jaise fresher ke liye kitni important hai" Malhar said "aap bilkul bhi tension mat lijiye Mai Apne dono kaam imandari se nibhaunga"

"Ji mujhe aapse yahi ummed hai" kalyani said and handed him his offer letter "to aap kab se join kar sakte hai"

"Thik hai phir aap kal se join kar sakte hai"

"Ji kalyani ji"

"Mmmm please report tomorrow at 10 A.M. we have some things to finish"

"Ok madam ji"

"..."

Next day Malhar reached the office 10 minutes early and was waiting for Kalyani when his phone rang he saw the caller ID but instead of picking up the phone he replied with a message. He was so engrossed in phone that he didn't even realised that Kalyani was standing right in front of him just like he didn't realise it was already 10 A.M.

"Good morning" Kalyani said

"Oh! Aap aa gai madam ji wo maa ka message tha...pr mujhe dhyan rakhna chahiye tha…"Malhar said in panicked voice"I am sorry mam. Please don't fire me"

"Oh it's okay I won't fire you for talking to your parents... it's just try to refrain your phone while we are working and there is no such as freshers can't do good work you just need to give your 100% and you will see the results. And one more thing please don't call me madam ji... just call me Kalyani. These are the things which are needed for working here…and since you were 10 minutes early here so I assume even you are punctual" Kalyani said

"Ji madam ji"

"Phir madam ji"

"Sorry mada... Kalyani ji"Malhar said

"Let's go. We need to pack all my things we will be operating from my home for the time being" Kalyani said and opened the door to the office while Malhar followed her silently. They were packing their things silently in opposite directions when Kalyani heard a voice as if something big and made of glass broke. She turned in malhar's direction...it was a vase one was in malhar's hand while another one on the floor in hundreds of pieces.

"I am sorry Kalyani ji...Mai to isse pack karne ki koshish kar raha tha….pata nai iske bagal wala kaise gir ke toot Gaya...Mai Abhi kuch karta hu" Malhar said trying to find some place to keep the vase in his hands.

"Tumne mera vase Tod diya...Ruko... don't move I will come there" Kalyani said trying to control the tears forming in her eyes "you already broke one of them... please don't break the one in your hands" Kalyani said and made her way through the pieces lying on the floor

"Lao idhar do vase" Kalyani took the vase from malhar's hand and put it on the table carefully "I am already done here...jao and call the movers and packers." Kalyani said and gave him a visitor's card "tab tak I will clean here"

It took 30 minutes Malhar was back. He was guiding the workers inside to load the van when he saw Kalyani was sitting on the rock chair. Eyes closed, brows tensed, legs interlocked, arms crossed, it appeared as if she was thinking about something important. Suddenly he noticed her hands. It was a cut probably being the consequences of collecting the pieces of broken vase. It wasn't bleeding much but still it needed treatment. Malhar came closer and was about to call her when she woke up.

"You are here. Let's get going." Kalyani stood up in a jolt and fixed her clothes. It looked like as if she wasn't even aware of the dripping blood. She went ahead and sat in the car without even saying anything. Malhar instructed the workers and went to inform Kalyani.

"Kalyani Ji...Maine workers ko raasta Bata Diya Hai...ab Mera Kya kaam Hai" malhar said

"Sit...let's go to my house" Kalyani said sitting in the driver's seat

"Kalyani Ji agar aapko bura na lage to car mai chalau Kya" malhar said after gathering his courage

"Ahhhaannn... trying to impress your boss...not bad ha malhar" Kalyani said in a playful tone and left the driver seat empty for malhar to drive. It was red light when malhar stopped the car and turned his head to see Kalyani peeping out of the window aimlessly...he was about to say something when Kalyani's phone rang...she picked it up.

"Hello dev…"Kalyani said

Malhar couldn't hear the other side but he was listening to kalyani's monotonous voice as he was driving

"Hmmm...Mai thik hu….Maine Khana time pe khaya Tha... lunch bhi time pe karungi... take care...byee" the call ended like that

"Kalyani Ji ek baat poonchu" malhar said

"Haan Bolo" Kalyani said

"Aapko Dard nai ho raha" malhar said

"Dard...kaha" Kalyani asked getting confused

"Wo aapki fingers se blood aa raha Tha" malhar said

"Yee…" Kalyani said "jindagi be itne choot diye Hai Ki aab in sab choto ka pata hi nai chalta…"

"Chodo ye sab ar kitni der lagegi...humein waha pahuch kar office bhi set Karna hai"

"Bas 10 more minutes" malhar replied

They reached about 11 A.M. and started setting the office immediately. They finished their work around 2 P.M. and were tired to death. Kalyani woke up from her seat and took her phone and told malhar to come along with her.

"Let's go...moksh ke bus ka time hogaya Hai" Kalyani said. In reply to which malhar nodded and started walking behind her.

After waiting for some time the bus arrived and a kid wearing colourful school uniform climbed down. As soon as he saw Kalyani he jumped on her and hugged her tightly…

"Wow... Kalyani Aaj itne time baad tum mujhe Lene aai ho" moksh said expressing his happiness

"Ha too ar Kya mere moku ko ar Kaun Lene aata" Kalyani said "bhook lagi Hai???"

"Haa kalyani mujhe bhi….andar chuhe kud rahe hai" moksh said pointing towards his stomach

"Hmmmm...pr Maine to Aaj Khana banaya hi nai Hai...to phir" Kalyani said

"Phir Kya khayenge hum Kalyani" moksh said with a long sigh

"Chalo... burgers khayenge Aaj hum…" Kalyani said and in a fraction of seconds moksh was jumping up and down when he noticed someone standing behind Kalyani.

"Kalyani ye Kaun Hai?" Moksh asked curiously

"Ye mere new assistant hai ar tumhare new friend" Kalyani said "malhar Bhaiya"

"Pr hum Abhi Abhi to mile Hai...itni jaldi Kaise decide karu ke ye mere friend Hai ya nai" moksh said and showed disapproval

"Moksh aise baat Karte Hai bado se...mujhe lagta hai tumhe burgers nai maar khane Ki jarrorat hai" Kalyani said in anger

"Sorry...sorry Kalyani mujhse galati ho gai...I am sorry malhar Bhaiya" moksh said touching his ears

"Koi baat nai moksh...let's be friends" malhar said and wanted to shake hands...but moksh ignored him and hugged Kalyani tightly and started asking sorry from her also…

"Sorry na kalyani...aage se nai karunga aisa" moksh said hugging her

"Very bad moksh...mujhe tumse ye umeed nai thi" kalyani replied and parted

"Jane dijiye na kalyani Ji...baccha Hai" malhar said

"Kalyani Dekho...Bhaiya ne mujhe maaf kar diya" moksh said

"Nai...nai malhar issue bhadwa mat do...iski badmashiya badhti hi jaa rahi hai" kalyani said

"Kalyani sorry na... please mujhe bhook lagi Hai" moksh said

"Koi baat nai Kalyani Ji...Jane dijiye na"

"Thik hai tum kehte ho isiliye iss Baar issue maafi mil rahi hai...pr agli Baar aisa kuch Hua na moksh to mujhse bura koi nai hoga" kalyani said

All of them were sitting in the Mac Donald's waiting for their burgers...moksh was giving death glares to malhar, malhar was trying to get less frightened from moksh, kalyani was busy checking her mails. After a minute kalyani got an urgent call and excused herself from there. Trying to get rid of the bad and awkward situation malhar tried to strike a conversation with moksh

"Moksh aap kaun se school me padhte ho" malhar said

"Uniform pe Likha to Hai...ar Mai ajnabiyon se baat nai Karta" moksh said arrogantly. Malhar understood he was a hard nut to crack...so he silently waited for his turn. After a few minutes the waiter called for them to pick their burgers. Moksh was looking at malhar

"Don't look at me...Mai to ajnabi hu na" malhar said and went to the washroom , leaving him alone as he wished all along

"Hmmmph….Mai bhi koi baccha nai hu khud la sakta hu…" moksh said and went ahead. Moksh was walking confidently when he bumped with a tall and masculine man. It looked like the man was already irritated and losing his fries and cold drinks made him totally mad.

"I am sorry uncle…"moksh said terrified seeing his angry face

"Wahh...wahh sorry bolne se Kya mere fries wapis aa jayenge...Kaha Hai tumhari maa...bulao Apne Ghar walo ko" the man said and get a grip of moksh's hand. Terrified to hell...moksh started crying. Malhar was just standing a little afar from moksh peeping on how he was going...he saw him getting bumped with the man and reached just when the man took grip of his hand

"Leaving him he is with me" malhar said and looked directly into the eyes of that man. The man left moksh hand instantly and tried to explain his rude behaviour.

"It was his fault...I lost my food"

"So...what...does it gives you a right to pour your frustrations of life to a little child" malhar said "don't you dare try to explain yourself" malhar took some money out of his wallet and kept it in his hands, picked moksh up and went away from there...moksh was sobbing badly.

"Moksh...bas beta ar mat roo" malhar said but it looked like moksh was trying to bring flood there... everyone in the park was giving weird glances to malhar. Malhar went and bought a chocolate ice cream from the nearby vendor.

"Moksh...ye lo ice cream Khao...ar roo mat" malhar said extending the ice-cream. Moksh opened his eyes and took the ice-cream. He wiped his tears and started eating his ice-cream.

"Dekha Na tumne moksh bado Ki baat na manane ar unki disrespect Karne se Kiya hota hai"malhar said

"I am sorry malhar Bhaiya...ab se Mai Kabhi bhi bado Ki disrespect nai karunga" moksh said as he finished his ice-cream.

"Pr please...aap iss bare me kalyani ko mat batiyega" moksh said twitching his nose

"Thik hai…friends?" Malhar said

"Okay Friends…" moksh said and they shaked their hands.

On the other side... kalyani panicked when she couldn't find both malhar and moksh were she left them...she called malhar and found they were sitting in a nearby park as moksh wanted to play on the swings. She rushed over there and saw moksh was happily swinging and malhar was standing aside watching him.

"Thanks...bahut time baad moksh itna khush lag raha hai" kalyani said with satisfaction in her eyes

"Ye to Mera farz tha kalyani Ji...ar usse khush dekh ke mujhe bhi to khushi hoti Hai" malhar said "but kalyani Ji aapko itni der kyu lag Gai"

"Hmmm...wo ek naya case mila Hai. It's a simple case. We have all the proofs which need to be taken care of. Still we need to start soon" kalyani said and called for moksh...moksh happily came down and all of them went back home.
