I'n not updating my FFs....yet. Uni's started, lectures are tough and 'm having a hard time balancing work and living on my own for the first time ever. But I still love to write. The following chapter is the reason that Chapter XI of my FF THT was delayed.
Bharti popped her head round the door, clearing her throat loudly seeing as knocking on the cabin door hadn't manage to divert Yug's attention away from his work. Vrinda ' Bharti decided ' was going to have a hard time battling it out with the first love of Yug's life'his laptop.
"Your 10 o'clock is here."
She informed him brightly, smiling triumphantly as he finally looked up, even if it was with a totally bland expression.
"My schedule is filled with hearts. So either I'm meeting a surgeon or a woman you actually approve of."
Bharti rolled her eyes.
"It obviously means that Vrinda arranged to meet with you."
"Obviously."
He deadpanned before turning back to his work, though Bharti didn't miss the slight tightening of his jaw. She'd been his secretary long enough to know when the quirk of a finger meant that he was going to all Genghis Khan on the Finance Department, and when the right smile meant that she could wheedle him for some time off work. And the jaw definitely meant trouble.
She turned to Vrinda flicking absent-mindedly through a magazine and looking ' if not less scrawny then definitely more relaxed than yesterday.
"Good luck."
Vrinda grinned as she carefully replaced the magazine before making her way towards the open door.
"Can I come in?"
"You are in a lot of trouble."
"I'll take that as a yes."
She replied cheerfully, closing the door behind her and stopping short as she realized that his office looked as if it had hit recently played homage to a group of thundering rhinos. Cabinets were wide open, charts and graphs were scattered across his desk and files were strewn over the empty seats, looking dangerously close to toppling over.
Yug didn't look much better in crumpled clothes and a day old prickly beard.
"Isn't that what you were wearing yesterday? Have you been here all night?"
"I didn't realize how much work I'd missed spending time with you and Ria."
He pulled away from his laptop, tiredly raking his fingers through his already mussed hair as Vrinda picked her way through the chaotic mess and perched precariously on the crowded desk. He really did need a shave and a goodnights sleep, Vrinda summarized as she eyed the purple bruises under his eyes with concern.
"Where is Ria anyway?"
He managed to ask before a yawn threatened to dislocate his jaw.
"Oh, she's with Raj. They seemed to be having a lot of fun last night when he dropped her off and seeing as he was free today he asked if'"
Vrinda trailed of, her smile slipping in to a thin line as she noticed a muscle ticking in his jaw.
"Raj bhaiyya knew where you were staying."
"Urh'"
"I can't believe he didn't tell me."
"Urh'"
Muttering angrily to himself he plowed through the sheaf of scattered papers and reached for his phone.
"What are you doing?"
"Bhai is in a lot of trouble."
He replied grimly, completely unprepared for Vrinda lunging across his desk and grabbing the phone.
"No, he isn't!"
Her brows snapped together as she glared down at him before wrestling the phone out of his grasp.
"You should have told me where you were."
He all but growled, causing Vrinda to lift her chin in defiance.
"I can look after myself."
He dropped the phone, reaching for her and pulling her forward until she was sandwiched between his legs. He glanced pointedly at his grip, fingers easily circling her stick thin wrist
"Yeah, I can see that."
His tone put the Sahara to shame and Vrinda struggled against his grip, growing flustered as she awkwardly leant over him, looking down straight in to the swirls of his coffee-colored eyes.
"This isn't Prathapghar Vrinda. You're my'responsibility and I don't want you getting hurt."
The grip on her wrist tightened and he gently leant her forward, his gaze boring in to hers even as he reached out towards her, his warm palm settling hesitantly against his cheek before trailing up, engulfing his fingers in her curls.
Her mouth opened in a breathy sigh as she felt the tips of his fingers drifting across her scalp before he deftly removed her clip and her tresses came tumbling down her shoulders, enveloping them both in the heady fragrance of lemon.
Knuckles skimmed her waist and Vrinda almost jumped, only just realizing that her hand, only seconds before in his hold, was now rubbing the stubble of his jaw of its own accordance whilst Yug copied her movements against her waist. His other hand brushed aside her curls and delicately trailed one lock between his fingers.
"You still smell the same."
He murmured against her palm, kissing her fingers softly as he inhaled her scent. Vrinda watched him, swallowing against the constriction in her chest as his words brought back the jolting reality that there was a past between them which had ended badly.
"Why did you do it?"
The words tumbled out of her mouth before she could even think them through but now that she had posed her question, Vrinda knew she had to have an answer.
"Do what?"
This time he whispered across her collarbone kissing the hollow of her throat softly so that Vrinda momentarily lost her train of thought.
