Part 4
She walked out, got in her car and headed for work, as the scene from moments before of her Teji bhaiya and Freida bhabhi played in her mind. After thinking how her parents' marriage failed and the love marriage that Teji bhaiya and Freida bhabhi had was also failing, she decided that she won't get married. Marriage doesn't mean anything as sooner or later the two people get tired of each other and just tolerate each other for the sake of others. Also, it also hurt others around them, like it had hurt her and Teji bhaiya.
Vrinda stopped by Starbucks to pick up her friend Gitika. She had met Gitika during university and had become close. When Vrinda first Gitika, she was amused at how often Gitika got in trouble and always found a way to get out of it. Other than Teji bhaiya, Gitika was the only with who Vrinda could let out and have fun, instead of being the quiet person that she usually was. Gitika brought out the fun side of Vrinda and was her best friend. Being around her always made Vrinda forget about her worries.
As she parked and walked inside, she saw Gitika arguing with someone on the phone while in her other hand a tall java chip frap.
"I don't care Sharad! You said after marriage I can have an fish tank and have a pet fish" She yelled. "I don't care if you think they look ugly. You promised!" she said a while later while Vrinda tried hard not to laugh at how silly Gitika looked when she was mad. "You know what Sharad. I don't want to talk to you anymore! Bye!"
Vrinda tried to keep a straight face as Gitika walked towards her. She found it amusing how Gitika and Sharad were getting married next week and fought over everything every day and yet were so in love. Though Vrinda didn't believe in marriage, Gitika did, Vrinda wished Gitika the best and hoped that what Gitika and Sharad had would last forever as she didn't want to see someone she cared about get hurt again.
"You can stop smiling now."
Vrinda shook her head and continued to smile as they went to her car. She noticed Gitika muttering something and sighed before asking what was wrong. "What did he do now?"
Gitika started going on about how Sharad said she can't have pet fish because they don't live long and because he knows how she'll be too lazy to clean the fish tank even though he said they could. "And he didn't buy me chocolate yesterday!" she suddenly remembered, getting even more mad.
Vrinda tried to keep a straight face but burst out laughing.
"Nice to know how serious you take my problem" Gitika said sarcastically.
"You know Sharad's right about cleaning the fish tank part right? Besides, you don't even like pets so why do you want a fish?"
"Well just because he's right doesn't mean you take his side. And now that you mention it, I don't remember why I said I wanted a pet fish in the first place'" Vrinda just smiled while Gitika tried to remember why she wanted fish. And just like that Vrinda forgot her sorrow. Being with her friend always took her mind of things and today was no different.
