Part 3
She sees Kuldeep sitting on that chair holding the baby boy and remembers when Kuldeep used to carry her around and tickle her. Over the years as her parents relationship got worse, Kuldeep started to shower her with affection less and less while her mother would take out her frustration on them, though she did not mean to. Even though Vrinda was used to not getting attention, she could not help but feel a bit hurt. She shrugged off the feeling. Vrinda didn't want to spend her life thinking about all this and wanted to move forward. Plus she had Teji bhaiya and that meant the world to her.
He was the one who gave her hope that her life wouldn't turn out like her parents and that there was someone out there for her. She smiled at the thought of her hone wali bhabhi coming to life with them. Her brother was in love and was to be getting married soon. Thinking about it made her happy as she had never seen her brother this happy before. Vrinda thought it was amazing that he had found someone to spend the rest of his life with happily and would escape the fate that their parents had through an arranged marriage. Ever since she became aware of her parents' failed marriage, she started to despise the idea of it and believe it made the two people unhappy. Vrinda thought that loved marriage would a better option because you get to chose who you marry and if you already loved them, that love would last.
~6 Years Later~
"Leave me alone!" he yelled
"Don't walk away from me when I'm talking to you Teji."
"I don't have to time to hear all this."
"Why? What's wrong with what I said? I just asked you one question and you go ballistic"
"You want me to move to another city and leave my job and you're saying there's nothing wrong with that Freida?"
"I never said to leave your job. I said to get a transfer."
"Freida it would take me an hour longer to get to work. There's no way I can manage that" he tries to explain calmly, even though he knew that Freida would not understand.
"So? I just want a small house for us and our kids to live in. Is that too much to ask?"
"Yes it is!" he snaps.
"This is the first time I'm asking you for something and you say no? Do you even care about my feelings? Why did you even marry me Teji?"
"That was a mistake!" he yells before leaving the room.
As Teji walks out, he doesn't see Vrinda standing near the door with tears in her eyes. The person that she cared about the most was also miserable. She had thought that after marriage he'd be happy because he would be with the one he loves. And it indeed had worked out but over the years the love started to fade. Nothing is permanent, Vrinda realised. Not even love. Marriage in itself is a mistake, be it arranged or love.
