Nivedita Basu, a big name associated with Balaji for the past nine years, quit the production house in January. And after a well-deserved break the ex-creative head is back to the grind, joining a new production house.
WE caught up with Basu who gave us the lowdown on her new job.
"I've just joined a new firm called Coloseum Media Pvt. Ltd. which is a production media house. It mainly deals with fiction shows such as the serial called Shrimaan Shrimati on DD. I joined three days ago," says Nivedita.
She tells us more about the production, saying, "It is nine-months-old and is presently in collaboration with many shows such as Shakuntala (Star One), Jai Shri Krishna (Colors), Jeevan Sathi (Colors) and a few others. As far as the channels are concerned, we have approached a few channels and hope that things will work out soon."
Any plans of launching her own production house? "No, nothing as of now. And now that I've joined this, I will concentrate on it," she says.
Basu has spent her time since she resigned networking and contacting people. She tells us, "I was taking good rest at home and spending time with my family. But at the same time, I was busy meeting up with people. I was seeing 2-3 people everyday on an average, looking out for options."
Quitting Balaji hasn't kept Basu away from Ekta Kapoor. She says that she is still in touch with the soap queen. "I am not a party person at all and I don't socialise much but I am in touch with her through Facebook."
On asking her whether she harboured any ill feelings towards her ex-boss Ekta, Basu is quick to reply, "As I said earlier, there is no bitterness. After nine years, I wanted a change and felt the need to grow career wise. That is why I decided to quit. It was a very healthy bye-bye."
After working together for over 9 years, Nivedita Basu and Ekta Kapoor decided to part ways. Basu resigned in January admitting there were professional problems between the two and she felt the need to move on.
