Hi TSMSPians

I was wondering... as both KanUm have suffered... who do your sympathies lie with more?? It is a difficult question I understand... but worth thinking about as it shapes the meaning of this track for me...

Reasons to feel more for Kanak:
  • She was shown countless magical dreams by Uma, and then just abruptly abandoned without any explanation.
  • She was replaced in a jiffy by Uma.
  • She was rejected on her birthday while she waited for Uma to celebrate with him.
  • Uma could've tried to tell her, he could've gotten a message around to her somehow. After all he didn't leave her by his own will, it was done to save Suman, and Kanak would've understood that if she knew. Meera didn't know Kanak existed at that time (she only remembered hearing about Umas ex-wife the day she found out that she was Kanak) so what was the danger and they would've worked systematically and intelligently like they did with Massisa and Sumair Singh. Yet, Uma chose to stay silent.
  • Uma could've said that Kanak was his fianc that night at the party when Meera asked "gf or wife"
  • Uma could be a little braver; he had many chances to tell Kanak when she returned into his life, twice they met on the bus away from Meera... if he is innoccent and a victim of Meera then why does he not want to tell Kanak the truth... does he not trust that she will take it sensibly? If so then that is pretty disappointing because we all know that Kanak is not stupid.
Reasons to feel more for Uma:
  • He did none of this willingly, he wanted to protect Suman and right now he has seen what Meera can do so he is just extremely scared for Kanaks safety... this is all only out of love. He believes Meera can go to any extent hence he feels he must sacrifice his character in front of Kanak in order to keep her safe... he's only doing the best he can
  • Kanak once divorced him without explanation but he didn't stop trusting her... yet Kanak stopped trusting him as soon as he did one thing that didn't seem usual. Kanak could've stayed around and investigated the truth right then... back then, it might've been easier to get the truth out of Suman or Shiv or Maasa if not Uma himself... currently, two years later, they are too brainwashed by fear.
If I missed anything please do add.
I am slightly more inclined towards Kanak... only because I think Uma could've told Kanak the truth at some point but he didn't. Yes, Kanak divorced Uma for property (on the face of it) but she didn't marry anyone else in fact Uma nearly did marry Palomi (even if he didnt stop trusting and loving Kanak and was under Massisas pressure... he is an adult na, he thus is responsible). But I understand the point of view that Uma is not to blame and I even agree that Kanak also couldve done more to find out the truth... couldve had more patience... couldve been less emotional and trusted her intuition instead of the proofs... that might've led her somewhere

what are your views??

ps- I am not willing to bash any character or actor here, only doing some analysis on the show and asking for more opinions about this debate that's been going on in my head for quite some time. I feel bad for both Kanak and Uma, and I am their huge fan. Still, something in my stomach tells me that what happened to them wasn't inevitable. Just my POV, maybe it will change in some time.

Hi.. Jas.. I agree with you on everything.. Yes both uma and kanak had been suffering and neither kanak nor uma to be blamed.. I too have more sympathetic towards kanak from starting of this track as she had absolutely have no idea or no inkling of what's happening to uma and his family.. No one even tried to tell her anything.. So she believed what is visible to eyes and hurting with the thought of betrayal.. 😕

Hi Jas- this debate has been going on in my head too...
I am torn because I sense the helplessness & guilt from Uma & feel his pain, whilst he did marry Meera his heart has remained loyal to Kanak, he has kept his love for Kanak hidden in his heart for the last two years in order to protect kanak. How difficult it must be for Uma to live a life of pretence & battle with his feelings alone .
However I am going to have to say that my sympathy lies with Kanak for all the same reasons you have outlined. Kanak is oblivious to the situation and has therefore spent the last two years trying to fathom Uma's betrayal. Her heart & brain are torn between her dreams & heartbreak. We can't really blame her for believing what is in front of her - Uma has given her no explanation to think otherwise. Uma has more control over the matter and therefore my sympathy lies with Kanak.
I truly believe if Uma/Suman would have shared their problem with Kanak she would have found a solution & it would have saved the pain & torture of the last two years...
but it is serial land so separation track meh pain aur torture toh bhanta hi hain 😭
let's hope cvs give the track justice & wrap it up in a fitting manner.

Hi Jasleeya my sympathies with both. Kanak when she found our the entire Massisa game plan wanted to tell Uma with proof taking Adityas help as at that time uma was blind folded with her motherly love but failed still uma knew it but was very late and knew the truth when he was on death bed. He then realised what kanak has undergone and also in Bangkok both were in do or die situation he knew and confessed on Holi day that he was the one who was responsible for the situation. In Suman case he was asked to take on the spot decision and he took it first family than his own love and life but here he thought of him but failed to think as how kanak will feel with his decision? Similarly where kanak divorced him for his safety he went through the same pain and was suffering while going through entire palomi marriage track but it was Aditya saved from that marriage torture. But this time the horrible track has just giving us no option but to sympathies both as Uma is aware that if kanak knows the truth she will put her own life at stake but save their family. My only problem with Uma is he is trying to save kanak from the lustys wrath and not even once said that what if kanak will know the truth I'm right? Is something more had happened other than suman? Which is not revealed?

My sympathy lies with Kanak. Uma's 1 decision changed their lives for the worst.
I agree that it was an on the spot decision for Uma, but surely he could have told Kanak. We keep talking about protecting Kanak. Who's daughter is she, her brother is a police man. Is Meera above the law that she can do what she wants?

As for the incident involving Suman, WHY did they not check the body , to see if dead or alive. What type of doctor is he. He did not learn from Paulomi.

Once Uma was married to Meera, & knew what Meera was like why did he not try to find out the truth.

As for Suman, her brother ruined his life for her & she cannot confide in him that Meera is constantly cruel & nasty to them & threatening them, even though she is now married to Uma.

Every person has a weak point , why did Uma not find Meera's & use it against her?

This tells me this man was never killed & if he had been why did his family not log a missing person report.

It is funny when the character of Meera was discussed , it was touted as being positive, I do not see any evidence of that, she is portrayed as spoilt /selfish.

The story has lost its charm,& uniqueness for me. I just read the updates now, as I have never been interested in love triangles

My sympathy is only for Kanak. When Uma did want to divorce her after saras/vansh he didn't listen to her at all. Still kanak was trying. Then when kanak divorce for the property she gave him a clue firt and came back to the haveli to convince him that ther bound is by heart. When did Uma do any of those. Why would Kanak trust him. He had been changing all ready. There was a different way off thinking going on. If all this would had not been happening and Uma was still the good and right person she would not leave and try to find out. Butt he wanted too succeed at any cost.
He has his success now. Let him enjoy.

My sympathies only with Uma.
Kanak loves Uma. Kanak should prove her love by trusting Uma that he had a good reason behind if he took such a step just as Uma did previously otherwise I won't see much difference between Kanak and Uma who want Uma but can't really think about him or understand him.

Kanak and Uma both are in each and every battle so far and succeed as a team not as a single player just as I read in some other post.

Kanak did lot for Uma but Uma also did the same for her. Each and every step he ignored her immaturity patiently and believed her unquestionably when time to believe her character but Kanak failed to do ssme

She didn't lost anything except for Love which will be same for Uma.

But Uma suffering with no one to share his problems where Kanak had Bhabho love and all her family love. Rather than concentrating on her career and future, She is creating problems for herself so no sympathies for her.

Uma is constantly trying to save her and may be she should show some maturity.

Hi Goldsy

Yes, Kanak had her whole family with her, maybe this knowledge lightened Uma a bit when he thought about his decision

But Uma was not alone either... he had Suman in his house, or if not Suman, he also couldve gone to the Rathis next day and explained that he was blackmailed... I think, if Uma was isolated then he partly brought that upon himself by himself...
