I am seeing a lot of anger against Kanak, She nodded No to a question whether she did anything that would be considered illegal against the Toshniwals. Technically that is true. She was genuinely respectful and loving towards Uma's family because she has a loving nature. Her battle was not with them and hence she did not misbehave with them. Maasima was often angry or strict but she took it in her stride. She even appreciated her sacrifices for the family & truly got fond of her. She was sweet to Uma's sisters. With Shiv, she bonded even more. She took care of Uma"s mother, bathing her & doing all the duties of a daughter in law with genuine care. She saved her life for God's sake literally putting her own life at risk. The argument is that she was deceiving them with the pretense of being a permanent member but did she harm them? On the contrary, she fell victim to Payal's tricks and faced quite a few humiliations. None of them with the exception of maasisa who would get annoyed at times, faced any problems due to her.
As for her equation with Uma, he married her completely against her will. He literally did abduct her. He expected her to completely accept the marriage. She was held hostage. The family members kept an eye on her inside the home and Gabbasa stood guard outside. It was a nightmare situation. She saw Ved being assaulted and did not want to get her family involved with a bunch of hooligans as she saw Uma and his henchmen. Hence she did not reveal anything about them. She was protecting them. When she saw the shop papers, she obviously thought Uma had gotten them thru fraud as she knew Bhabho would never willingly sell the shop. She escaped the suhaag raat somehow from Kerala. Went to the registration office. She found evidence of Uma literally cheating Bhabho. She thought bhabho would die of heart atrack if she even heard of this let alone deal with legal matters. She thought she would deal with cheaters on their own terms and would try to get the shop back. It was foolish of her to walk back into the lion's den but for Kanak who was willing to give her life up for Bhabho, this was an acceptable risk.

I am not fond of her little lies and games during Seeta Geeta track but I think that was her way to deal with the horrible situation by being someone other than herself. She never did lie to Uma that she loved or cared for him. The sharaab Jalebi was her ultimate misbehavior. She did realise that was wrong. She accepted the challenge of patni dharm. She tried to do it all with as much integrity as she could. Her Rambha act was of desperation but for Bhabho, she said if she had to annhilate herself, she would do it. Bhabho and her heartless behavior with Kanak, did bring Kanak to this. Kanak is being hailed as selfish. Would a truly selfish girl have gone thru all this for someone else? Let us not forget also that Kanak was engaged to be married. Mayank looked like a nice guy with who she could have lived a normal life. Much was taken away frim Kanak too at a very young age,

In the course of her stay, she did discover that Uma was not a total monster. By the way, she did not mistreat him. She followed all his rules however exasperating they were. She did feel bad about her deception even though it was well intentioned and done under genuine misunderstanding about the way he owned the shop. She confessed to everything before he transferred the shop. What more does one expect from her?

She knows that are they are poles apart, It could be bad for them both to stay married to each other, She told him nicely to go away. Considering how he turned her life upside down, she was going easy on him. He still keeps trying to force the relationship. He is giving her no time. Her brothers' anger is not wrong but they also are giving her no time.

To me Kanak gave more love to the Toshnivals than they did to her, Saras respected her, Shiv loved her but they are not going to be permanently scarred by her deception. She was a pleasant houseguest. She did not play underhanded games like Payal. As the antaryami little kid said, she did love everyone, especially his dadosa albeit unconsciously. That is Kanak. she has a loving and forgiving heart.

@Deebz u nailed it. What I couldn't say in words, u wrote it out.
Again, I am neither supporting Kanak, nor Uma. What I believe is that they both did was wrong.

Bingo. I really don't get how she supposedly harmed the family. She lied, but what harm was there from the lie? She was always clear with Uma that she was not accepting of their rishta. She limited Rambha act to dance n stated categorically she was doing the characters of the test. Maasisa also knew she had not accepted Uma. As did Suman, Palomi, etc. With the exception of Saras n Shiv none were under any delusion about Uma n Kanak equation. Kanak was honest with Maasa always. Uma knew her truth before property transfer. So, what charges n crime did K commit?

Anjana, she harmed them by taking the property they rightfully acquired through the deception that she was trying to be an ideal wife as a repentance. At one hand she said she doesn't accept him as a husband, on the other she wanted the shop, who US promised his WIFE. When she got what she wanted, she broke all ties off.

That's scamming in the eyes of the law. Of course, the law will also take into consideration all the ordeals Uma and his family put her through, but she scammed them as well.

I believe they are both wrong.

@Deebz - I agree with you on much of what you have said. But unfortunately, this is Kanak's selfish motive that she was ready to scam someone just to get a shop so that Bhabho would love her.
When we equate what Uma and Kanak did we think Uma's crimes are bigger. And that's probably true. But if Uma had never done all that, Kanak would still have scammed the family because she was willing to annihilate herself for the shop. Meaning should would get it by hook or crook.

she broke all ties off and then she got what she wanted..uma was fully aware of what he was doing before signing those papers..kanak told the whole truth before transfering documents didnt she..so he could have easily refused then..

u can never be sure of that..if there was no forced marriage in the equation she wouldnt even have known about the papers just like other rathis...and even if she had known how would she be able to do any harm.on them considering she is not anyones wife there to hoodwink them into giving their property in her name..

Ziah, She was only trying to get back what was theirs as far as she knew. After getting the shop, she broke ties with him but at that point she did not know he was not to blame. Once she found out, I feel that it is fine that it is 50-50. Misri scammed Bhabho and Aditya scammed Uma. They got half scammed by their own people, Yeah Uma lost some money but it is small change compared to his crime. Kanak was willing to let him walk away scot free for it. He kept coming back.
