It could definitely be chalked up to coincidence.

The lantern she saw later in Uma's house and was surprised to see it. Uma was watching her from a distance and was too busy admiring her smile. I don't think either one of them realized the significance of their parcels having gotten switched. At least Kanak didn't...because she doesn't believe in these so called "signs from God"...and as a result is clueless in this matter.
